If you get the urge to explore further afield, you won't have to travel far before reaching stunning St Ives. The tiny hamlet of Crowlas is home to this rustic stone cottage, located less than a five-minute walk from the village centre. Stepping foot inside this former hay barn, the interiors might surprise you. While the furnishings and the kitchen are wonderfully modern, the wooden stairs and the wood burning stove are gorgeous, rustic features which make the space feel warm and homely. After a windswept day at the beach, coming home will feel like bliss when you can curl up by the fire with a cup of tea. And the flames continue outside. With a fire pit and a barbecue, the kids can roast marshmallows while someone else handles the burgers on the grill. This garden is a stunning spot where you can let the little ones run around – and you can lie back in the sun loungers to enjoy the serenity of the countryside. For a day out of your sanctuary, hop in the car and head through the village to pick up picnic supplies. As the crow flies, you’re under two miles from the rugged coasts of Cornwall. However, we recommend checking out the fishing village of Padstow, about an hour away. Or St Ives is only a fifteen-minute drive from home, where you can visit high-end restaurants and visit the Tate Gallery.

Listen to the trickling stream with a cup of coffee in hand, or surround yourself with views of verdant greens and ocean blues on the elevated viewing platform. The south-facing terrace area is a lovely little sun trap and makes for an idyllic reading or sunbathing spot for ever-craved lazy days soaking up some vitamin D. On chillier days curl up in front of the wood burner fire with your favourite Netflix show playing in the background. 

Carbis bay beach is just a fifteen-minute walk away down the hill where you can go swimming in its shallow crystal clear waters. Continue your walk a little further to the popular resort town of St Ives, reachable in thirty-five minutes (or eight minutes by car or bus). The annexe offers a small gravel courtyard at the back of the home which is ideal for sun-soaked mornings enjoying a leisurely breakfast alfresco, or an afternoon tea with fresh Cornish cream, jam and scones. 

Wander Carbis Bay’s crescent of white sands and turquoise waters or go on a water adventure and grab a paddleboard or kayak from the beach-based surf school. For beautiful walks, we can highly recommend the coast path from here to St Ives, which showcases spectacular views over the bay, and the 1.9km walk has a gentle ascent meaning the whole family can enjoy the scenery and bracing sea air. Or, if that sounds like too much for you, the single-track railway of the St Erth line follows that same path along the coast offering passengers an incredible vantage point to see all of St Ives Bay and beyond.  

After a busy day, the home’s open-plan living space will provide you with a comfortable sofa to unwind from your beach days, while the dining area beckons you to share meals and discuss your plans for the following day over a delicious dinner.

This gorgeous home can be found on the hill behind Mousehole, under a mile away, in the traditional village of Paul. There you’ll find a cosy pub and a 15th-century parish church – if you’re looking for authentic English charm, look no further. It’s in the heart of the Cornish countryside but still close to the coast, making it popular with hikers and surfers alike. We love Sennen beach for the waves, but Penzance is just as easy to get to if you prefer building sandcastles. 

The house has been recently refurbished with much love. Muted hues and natural textiles are key to the style of this laid-back, comfortable home-from-home. When you’re not lounging inside or dining at the farmhouse-style table, you’ll likely be enjoying the fabulous outside space. 

Let the kids tire themselves out playing on the lawn, in the Wendy house, on the swings, or playing table tennis. Meanwhile, you can slip into the hot tub with a glass of something bubbly and really start to unwind. Situated in a private terrace, with no passing traffic, take in the turquoise ocean vistas from the beautiful, sunny terrace, surrounded by pink hydrangeas, with a glass of Cornish fizz. Or head inside, where you'll be greeted with large bay windows – admire the town, harbour and the sparkling sea from here. Our favourite spot has to be the plush velvet window seat in the bedroom. With two living areas and several outdoor spaces, this home is perfect for a family or group of friends looking to spread out. To top it all, there's parking for up to two cars, which is a rare bonus in St. Ives.

The vibrant town centre is a five-minute walk, where you'll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. It's the same walking distance to Porthminster Beach, one of St Ives's six beaches – the others are Porthgwidden, Harbour, Porthmeor, Lambeth Walk and Bamaluz – so you're spoilt for choice. For art lovers, the Barbara Hepworth Museum is a seven-minute saunter, while the Tate St Ives is eleven minutes on foot.

You could easily spend your days lounging around this home, but the Cornish west coast is too beautiful to miss. The seaside town of Marazion is just a ten-minute walk away and upon reaching its beach, you'll be doing a double-take as to whether you're really still in the UK. With glistening clear blue seas and white sand beaches, spending the day here is easily done. And for the full experience, we highly recommend a classic Cornish pasty or fish and chips on the beach for a satisfying lunch. 

Return home and wash off the sand in your outdoor shower before enjoying a few drinks in the garden. The barbecue is ready to go to cook up a feast, or you could enjoy a homecooked dinner around the dining table inside if the weather starts to chill. There's nothing more homely than gathering around with family and friends in a Cornish cottage, while the traditional fireplace warms you up from the inside out.

This elevated cottage offers breathtaking views of Carbis Bay, Godrevy lighthouse, and the North Cornwall coastline that will leave you speechless for days. This home has a rustic feel to it, with reclaimed local stone and natural cedar cladding that blends seamlessly. Open the panoramic windows and make your way down to the south-facing garden for a cup of coffee and fresh air while the kids play on the grass. Returning inside, you'll notice that the living room is flooded with natural light as you take a seat on the Tetrad Sofas and place your second coffee refill on the reclaimed oak coffee table. 

Carbis Bay is a charming seaside town known for its stunning stretch of white sand, turquoise waters, and sheltered conditions. Sunbathe on the beach before indulging in some local fish and chips, or if you're feeling more athletic, go kayaking. Take the twenty-nine-minute walk to St Ives Farmers Market, which is held at The Guildhall every Thursday until 2 p.m. throughout the year. If you appreciate art, visit the Barbara Hepworth Museum in St Ives before wandering through the cobbled streets of a traditional seaside town to reach the lighthouse.

Setting the tone for a fun coastal getaway in Penzance, this wonderfully central cottage has comfort and entertainment in spades. 

Wake to views over the sea and the Jubilee Pool before enjoying an alfresco breakfast on the sunny patio. Should you want to relax before a day of sightseeing, there are plenty of books to enjoy as well as an Xbox 360 in the living room. After ample lounging, make a beeline for the Jubilee Pool (a two-minute walk)  – the UK's biggest and most celebrated art deco seawater lido – or take a stroll along the Penzance Promenade, just one minute away on foot. Penzance Harbour is also a six-minute stroll, while the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole is a nine-minute drive away.

Though it's been updated with contemporary furnishings and amenities, you can easily discern the home's history with its old stone walls, wood-burning stove, and the exposed wooden trusses that adorn the bedroom's ceilings. An outdoor balcony on the roof connects to two of the bedrooms, making it the perfect spot for a morning breakfast or cup of tea. We love the living area’s enormous bay window that looks onto the sea – a view that goes hand in hand with a bottle of wine in front of the fire or a good book. Mousehole offers plenty of options for eateries, including traditional pubs and tearooms, but on nights when you just fancy a home-cooked meal, the kitchen is fully equipped. Dine at the rustic wooden table, then head out for an evening walk along the harbour wall and watch the waves crash. Tomorrow you can walk the Coastal Path to the Tater Du Lighthouse, or take a scenic drive to the nearby towns of Newlyn, St Michael's Mount or charming St Ives. If you prefer to stay in Mousehole, wander the shops and enchanting streets of this quiet seaside town before returning it's time to hit the beach again.

Just a five-minute walk to the centre of town and a seven-minute stroll from Carbis Bay, the house is perfectly placed for exploring the delights of this sought-after seaside postcode. Back home, the outside space is the real star of the show with a comfortably furnished summerhouse filled with tasteful artwork and nautical adornments. We can think of nothing better than watching the sunset over Godrevy and beyond from here. In warmer months, take to the flower-bedded terrace for alfresco dining and ocean views or find a quiet enclosed patio for a relaxing read in the sun. Stepping inside, you'll find a well-presented interior with light wooden flooring, ornamental fireplaces and exposed brickwork. We also found there to be an industrial-chic styling around the home – from the cooper framed bed in the master bedroom to the low-hanging lampshades over the dining table. There is of course a freestanding bathtub for relaxing soaks after wandering the Cornish coast as well as an abundance of light and airy living space to sprawl out and unwind. There's a traditional country-house kitchen with all the basic appliances for cooking hearty meals, although we'd be tempted to wander into town for a spot of locally sourced and adored fish and chips.

We’re not one for hyperbole, but the views from the terrace of this home really are spectacular. Not only do you have the ocean stretching out as far as the eye can see, but the beautiful bay of Praa Sands also curves down below, and the patchwork fields of south Cornwall lie in the distance. Admire the view from the perfectly placed hot tub, drink a morning coffee on the glass-fronted balcony, or cook a meal on the barbecue to enjoy overlooking the water. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room means that you can take in the scene even on cold days – when you may want to fire up the woodburner for a cosy evening in. Aside from walking, surfing and sunbathing on Praa Sands, you’ll also want to explore the nearby village and go hiking along the South West Coast Path, which is easy to reach from this home.
