This beautiful Grade II-listed Georgian Manor House in the heart of Cornwall is perfect for large gatherings and celebrations. Tucked away among thirty acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, there are plenty of woodland paths, ponds and rolling hills for adults and children alike to enjoy. Gyllyngvase Beach takes less than twenty minutes to reach in the car as well. Alternatively, you could use the large lawn at the front of the home for a friendly game of croquet or cricket. Inside, you’ll be blown away by the high ceilings, snug drawing rooms and period-inspired furnishings that will bring a touch of elegance to your holiday. However, there are so many ways to let loose here. The conservatory, for example, has a billiards table, disco ball and sound system, and there's also table tennis that can be set up in the rear hall or courtyard. On sunny days, the patio with its barbecue and alfresco dining area will naturally be the place to be, but there's also the option to slip away from the crowds for a dip in the outdoor hot tub, complete with candles and LED lighting.

Located just a short walk from Mylor’s beautiful marina sits a cottage that is just as picturesque as its surroundings. Scallop Cottage can sleep eight guests and even welcomes up to two dogs, making it a fantastic choice for a friendly family or a bunch of friends keen on escaping on a coastal holiday. Enjoy sweeping views through the large picture windows in the living room, prepare delicious meals in the country kitchen, or bask in the sunshine of your private backyard as you take in the boats of the marina bobbing with the tide of the waves. Weather permitting, we encourage you to take your meals alfresco or make your way down to the marina for a wonderful meal out. Perched close to the Cornish coastline, it's possible to gaze out at peaceful vistas of Swanpool lagoon or Falmouth Bay, depending on which of the floor-to-ceiling windows you're standing next to at any given moment. The best spot at the address, however, has to be the covered balcony, from which you can enjoy the coastal panorama with a sea breeze on your skin.

Just over a mile from the village of Stithians, down by the River Kennall, this stone cottage is set in the 7-acre land surrounding an old farmhouse. But despite its incredibly rural setting, staying here is far from the rustic experience you might expect. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Upon arrival, your host will warmly welcome you with a hamper full of luxury Cornish fare and home-baked goods to start your holiday right. While you nibble and sip, you can start exploring the cosy home. Fluffy rugs, plush sofas, and wooden floors create a sense of warmth and softness in the living space, but floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside in. And the great outdoors are particularly great in this case. Under the wooden decking, get ready to pop champagne and soak in the hot tub. Or perhaps you’d rather recline on the outdoor sofas by the wood-burner, have a barbecue, or play a few rounds of table tennis? As you’re just a fifteen-minute drive to Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth, you’ll also need to pack a picnic one day and head for the shore (don’t forget to grab the beach towels that your host kindly provides).

In the centre of charming Truro, this apartment feels like a cosy ode to wool. Plush knitted throws adorn the sofa in the open-plan living room, and the bed is lined with fluffy sheepskin. Herringbone floor completes a classic look, and we love the seat in the big Georgian window (furnished with a sheepskin throw, of course) overlooking the street for a spot of people-watching. The kitchen has everything you need to cook full meals at home – perhaps courtesy of the fresh fish landed every day in the nearby harbour towns. And, if you want to dine outside, there’s a shared courtyard dappled with fairylights for the occasion.

Location-wise, you’re in the heart of town and can reach all of Truro easily on foot. Quaint cafés serving scones (jam first, of course) and cream teas, fresh seafood restaurants and plenty of shops await. Getting out to explore the area, you’ll find the Roseland Heritage Coast AONB a ten-minute drive for clifftop coastal walks, and the buzzing beach of Falmouth is a twenty-minute drive.

There's even a ferry nearby that can take you and your car over the river to the Roseland Peninsula. For a unique and unforgettable experience, stay in this operational lighthouse on the furthest point of Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula. The sea views are second-to-none, whether that’s from the sunny patio or the detached observation room – complete with a fireplace for cosy storm watching. Seeing as this lighthouse is operational, expect to hear automatic fog signal on misty nights and see maintenance people from time to time. Other than that, the cottage is private with no public access. You’ll park in the National Trust car park – it’s a 300-metre steep path down to the cottage from there. Guests should also be aware that the home isn't suitable for children under 14, including babies. But there's a lot to love here. You even have easy access to a beautiful beach.

Despite occupying a secluded spot in the middle of the countryside, the home is actually very well placed to explore the best of this spectacular county. Surfing hotspots including Newquay, Perranporth and Gwithian are no more than half an hour's drive. At the same time, the picturesque coastal town of St Ives offers fantastic food and high culture (courtesy of Tate St Ives), twenty-six miles away.

This room’s enormous circular window, directly overlooking the water, is the crowning jewel of the home and means you can appreciate the far-reaching view without even getting out of bed.

You can reach Porthowan's sandy shores in less than ten minutes on foot, stopping to pick up some fish and chips en route. Further along the Cornish coastline, there are plenty of hidden coves and cliffside villages to explore – just hop in the car and go where the wind (or sea) takes you.

You could sneak in through the back at this apartment in a Regency manor, but that would take away from the grand entrance worthy of a Jane Austen heroine. Sashaying through the double doors and across the marble floor, past the stone fireplace, you come to your abode. It’s in the old ballroom of the manor, and the floor-to-ceiling bays windows and gilded mirrors haven’t changed since the days of swishing gowns and music from the pianoforte (indeed, there’s still a grand piano in here). 

Rather than a bandstand, there’s now a kitchen at the head of the ballroom, and if you prefer your evenings slightly more intimate, a book-lined snug with a plush velvet sofa awaits in the bedroom. We love the hand-carved antique bed, waiting to see you off to the land of nod.

There are acres of grounds to explore on the estate, but if you want to get out and see the Cornish coast, it’s just a ten-minute drive to the beaches of St Ives Bay. The gallery-filled old fishing town of St Ives itself is just twenty minutes by car.

Revel each day in coastal walks across Porthtowan Beach until you reach the cliffs. Cycle around villages and all across this UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you're a surfer, the hosts own their own Surf shop and will be happy to help. You will be welcomed with a Cornish tea of home-made scones, clotted cream and jam. Set in an old stable, the pastoral facade of this home delights from the offset. Inside, renovated interiors ensure comfort and style. We love the open-plan living space, with its fully-equipped country kitchen, large dining table and cosy lounge, complete with a wood-burning stove. Spend mornings huddled here with a cup of tea, slathering salted butter onto fresh bread from the local bakery – delivered daily to your doorstep if you wish. Outside, you'll find the enclosed garden, promising privacy and dressed to the nines with a firepit, barbecue and woodfired hot tub. Spend balmy evenings here, toasting marshmallows at sunset.

With its off-the-beaten-track location and lush surroundings, we wouldn't blame you for never leaving this pocket of heaven. Though if you fancy exploring, the towns of Redruth, Falmouth and Helston are less than twenty minutes away by car, while the honeypot haunt of St Ives is a thirty-five-minute drive away. The closest village, Stithians, can be reached in half an hour on foot. Stop by for a hearty pub lunch, or visit the local reservoir for watersports galore.

Inside, your hosts have made clever use of unfinished natural materials to provide a link to the landscape, with heated tiled floors, comfy seating and a wood burner adding to the cosy atmosphere. Vibrant prints and luxurious fabrics characterise the two double bedrooms, with one boasting a four-poster bed and the other finding space for a freestanding tub. Meanwhile, a bespoke bunk bed adds an element of fun to the third. 

Step out onto the west-facing deck for glorious sunsets, best enjoyed from the warmth of the wood-fired hot tub. Afterwards, dry off by the fire pit before cooking some locally sourced produce on the barbecue. Alternatively, grab a seat in the communal courtyard with friends old and new.

Away from the cottage, the village of Stithians is just a mile down the road or a half-hour scenic walk away via the network of bridleways and footpaths that crisscross the Cornish countryside. The popular Seven Stars Inn serves modern British classics and cold pints, while the corner shops and local artisan bakery ensure you can shop local for your whole stay.

Watersports enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the reservoir, where you can sail, windsurf and paddleboard to your heart's content, with the traffic-free Mineral Tramways trail worth exploring by bike.

Finally, you can't visit this far-flung corner of the country and not head to the seaside. The cottage's location means that you're never more than seven miles from either the south or north coast. Standout surf spots include Porthowan, Gwithian, and Porthleven, all within a half-hour drive of your home.


The Dairy Shed

But, of course, there's no need to stop by a supermarket with all this on your doorstep, though you'll find a few options 4.5 miles away in Redruth.

Stithians reservoir is sure to appeal to watersports enthusiasts, with sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding on offer, while the Mineral Tramways cycle path is also worth exploring.

The cottage's location in the west of the county makes it impossible to stray far from either the north or south coast. Seasoned surfers and weekend warriors will appreciate the proximity to plenty of excellent surf spots, including Porthtowan, Gwithian, and Porthleven, all within half an hour's drive.

If you like the idea of going eco-friendly for a while but don't want to completely give up on comforts, this cosy barn powered by renewable energy could just be a happy compromise. 

The renovated cob and stone property sits within six acres of idyllic riverside woodland and is built out of natural materials, including oak, lime, cob, pigmented clay plaster and locally sourced slate. Inside, there are a few rustic features, such as the exposed stonework and wood-burning fireplace, but otherwise, it's undeniably contemporary thanks to the conservatory, sleek kitchen and pristine bathrooms. The fact that it's powered by a wind turbine and a heat pump is pretty impressive, too.

Given the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding grounds, you'll be happy to hear that there's a natural swimming pool close to the home — shared only with the host, who lives on the site, and one other barn — as well as a barbecue and some spots for an alfresco feast. 

Although it feels like you're in splendid isolation at this address, you can head back to civilisation pretty swiftly if you wish. The town of Truro takes a quarter of an hour to reach in the car, while Perranporth Beach on the north and south Cornish coastlines can be reached in just under twenty-five.

In fifteen minutes on foot, you can be in the heart of town where seafood restaurants and cosy pubs abound, plus there’s a sweep of sandy beach and access to the glorious South West Coastal Path. Return to your sleek, modern abode where comfort is the name of the game. Some may say “soulless”, but we say if the sofas are squishy, the kitchen is fully equipped (even with a wine fridge) and the beds are top-notch, what’s not to love?

Brimming with original artwork and oozing charm, this coastal cottage is a real knock-out. We love every inch, from the inviting living space to the sumptuous bedroom. It's snug, but that's what makes it so cosy, and for a small space, it sure is packed with personal touches. Egyptian cotton sheets, electric fireplace, fluffy bathrobes, beach essentials, a welcome basket overflowing with breakfast items – your host has all the little details taken care of. As much as we adore the lovely kitchen, our favourite spot has to be the rustic courtyard. Dotted with olive trees and surrounded by leafy potted plants, it's the perfect place for morning coffees, alfresco dinners and evening tipples as the sun goes down. As far as locations go, this home is close to everything – it's only a ten-minute walk to Gyllyngvase Beach and five minutes to the restaurants, shops and pubs along the waterfront. While there's private parking on-site, you won't need the car for much. Don your comfiest shoes and set off on foot instead, exploring Falmouth's coastal walks, art galleries and cafes with ease.

The Sea In Bloom

Believed to have been constructed for the Captain of the Mines, this house in the heart of St Agnes is a rarity. With a thriving arts and crafts scene on your doorstep and Trevaunance Cove an eighteen-minute walk away, there’s plenty to do here. Suitable for all the family, inside the home, you’ll find a games room and cinema on the lower ground floor. While outside, the garden catches the evening sun and features two terraces for alfresco refreshments. 

The Captain's Retreat

The Helford River is Cornwall’s best-kept secret. The stunning scenery even inspired the author Daphne du Maurier to write her novel Frenchman’s Creek. There’s plenty to be explored in this area, from the tropical gardens of Trebah to the creeks and ocean; we’d recommend making the adventure by boat and luckily this cottage comes with its own all-tide mooring. This charming stone cottage offers delightful views of the river, quietly tucked away in a lush paradise but still close to the excellent Shipwrights Arms and ferry point. Inside the interior design blends seaside chic with rustic, farmhouse vibes. We love the ship paintings, sea-blue tones and wood finishings. This charming cottage still retains a lot of its original features, boasting a characterful stone hearth and wood-burning stove. The open-plan kitchen and living room feel particularly snug. Warm yourself beside the fire, play a card game or watch a movie.

This Grade II listed former accounting house is packed full of character. Ideal for families or friends on a Cornish stay, you can enjoy views across the Gweek Classic Boatyard here. And, with the potential for mooring and a slipway available, bring along your boat, canoe or paddleboard, and get out on the water with ease. Made for sociable living, there’s plenty of space to spread out in this home, and after a busy day, where better to relax than the garden? The hot tub is ready and waiting.

There are lots of things that impressed us about this cute cottage close to the North Cornish coastline. First off, there's a lot of room inside considering it's only for two people, with the modern corner kitchen particularly large — and well-equipped for that matter. This generosity with space will have contributed towards the M2 Accessibility Rating it received from Visit England, which marks the single-level property out as suitable for guests with reduced mobility and part-time wheelchair users. What's more, there's a private sandstone patio complete with alfresco seating and a hot tub from which to enjoy summer evening sunsets. If you prefer to watch this while sitting on the sand with the sound of the waves lapping nearby, Perranporth Beach is less than ten minutes' drive. Similarly, the towns of Truro and Newquay only take a quarter of an hour to reach by car.
