This delightful home overlooks Plymouth Sound and boasts one of the best locations in the city. With only Hoe Park between you and the sea, spend your stay strolling along the waterfront and visiting the Barbican area’s pretty harbourside restaurants, less than a ten-minute walk from your doorstep. 

The apartment itself has beautiful sash windows, which flood the rooms with light. Wooden floors, mustard velvet upholstery and a modern kitchen make the open-plan living space a comfortable and stylish place to relax after a day of exploring. But the highlight of this home has to be its views, which you can enjoy from the balcony. We think it’s an experience best enjoyed with a locally distilled gin in hand as the sun sets into the water.

This home is right in the heart of Saltash, often referred to as the 'gateway to Cornwall' – so it's ideal whether you’re after surfing beaches, coastal walks or picturesque villages. You’re only a short stroll from the River Tamar and the high street, where you’ll find plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Plus, Whitsand Bay, with its miles of sandy beach, is just a twenty-minute drive. When you’re back from exploring, you can relax in the private front courtyard, gather in the open-plan living space, or wind down in the main bedroom and enjoy the river views.

Perfect as a base for a family or a group of friends, you’ll enjoy a memorable holiday, with all the comfort and picturesque beauty to help you leave the pressures of everyday life behind. 

Step inside to find a dazzling single-level home, filled with streams of natural light flooding in through the huge picture windows. The open-plan living area is a cosy haven, ideal for leisurely afternoons of reading or games and warm evenings by the fire with a good movie and a glass of wine. We love the sleek, wooden floors and bright, plush furnishings, creating an inviting ambience. 

You’ll get inspired to create delicious meals in the modern, well-stocked kitchen, featuring all the necessary gadgets to make rustling up a family supper a work of moments. You can savour your meals at the dining table inside or gather for an alfresco feast outside, where the lush garden, comfy seating and those stunning ocean views await. 

Before you head to the comfy bedrooms for a night of restful sleep, why not treat yourself to a relaxing bath in the spa-like family bathroom. 

Outside your oceanside oasis, you’ll be able to take dreamy nature walks by the beach, as well as enjoy all that the village of Downderry has to offer, with a charming local pub and a restaurant just moments away. 

I Wake Up With the Ocean 

Set in fifty-five acres of rolling grounds, with woodland, landscaped gardens and views over the River Tamar, this stunning piece of history was built in 1698. Based on an even earlier fortified home, its turrets and striking architecture mean it's always been referred to as 'the castle'. With grand hallways, antique furniture and character features at every turn, this really could be your own stately home for a time. Fit for a large group or an extended family – perhaps celebrating a special occasion – it's a joy to stay here at any time of year. The two drawing rooms have open fires for winter nights, while the solar-heated pool will delight during the summer. There's a huge dining table for celebration dinners, a games room with table football and a pool table, a barbecue and fire pit in the grounds, and eleven elegant bedrooms – each with private facilities. The perfect base from which to explore the West Country, it's easy to get to Dartmoor, the Devon and Cornwall coast and an abundance of pretty villages by car, while keen walkers can hike the nearby trails along the Tamar Valley or enjoy the many walks around the estate. Follow the paths down to the picturesque bathing hut on the quay, or up to original owner Sir James Tillie's mausoleum. It's a six-minute drive to one of the area's premier golf courses and just over twenty minutes into the centre of Plymouth. 

Tamar Hall

Once part of the major victualling depot of the Royal Navy, this apartment is in a striking stone building on Plymouth’s waterfront. Looking out the window in the living room, you can see just how close you are to the restaurant-lined harbourside as boats float in the water. The old bones of the building are still on display inside and the living room is a comfortable spot to unwind. An upright piano can provide the soundtrack to a seaside escape and the full kitchen has you covered for meals at home. The slanted old ceilings in the bedrooms are a little low in places, but really set the cosy tone.

Plymouth Bay Blue

This cozy yet elegant apartment located in the heart of Plymouth is perfect for a romantic getaway. Spend your days by the water or explore what the city has to offer. This home is a fantastic base for relaxation before enjoying the hustle and bustle of the central location. Cook up a delicious breakfast in the kitchen – treat yourself to a hearty full English. Follow up with a cup of coffee while watching the TV before heading out to the city of Plymouth.

Visit the extensive waterfront –  you're spoilt for choice with the number of charming cafes close by, perfect for a light bite for lunch. Walk along the Hoe Promenade to get to the historic 18th Century lighthouse, Smeaton's Tower. After a busy day of exploring, you'll probably be getting a bit peckish, so why not dine out at one of the many nearby eateries? – some are even within a fifteen–minute walk away.

Head back home to wrap up an exciting day with a cuddle on the sofa and a glass of red. Lower the lights, have a browse through Netflix, and pop on the latest documentary or movie to unwind.

The Underground Pearl

Set within the coastal village of Kingsand, this pet-friendly cottage is full of quirky charm. From the outside, its tall, narrow facade gives it a lighthouse-feel, while inside it's cosy and homely. The living room is small but snug, with a log-burning fire and picture-perfect sea views. And the location? Kingsand is quieter than many villages along this stretch of coastline, offering a quaint, laid-back atmosphere, with pubs, restaurants, scenic hiking paths and the beach all just a few minutes' walk away. 

Lighthouse Cottage

Affording exceptional views of England's green and pleasant land from the living room, this family studio is perfect for those looking to get away from city life and explore the lush, undulating countryside of Cornwall. It overlooks the scenic Oaklands Park, and is just a ten-minute drive from Polperro Beach and East Looe Beach. Situated in a former hotel, the apartment itself is embellished by beautiful raw-wood in and around the kitchenette and living room. It has three beds in total – a king for parents and twins for children – all with super-soft 400-thread count linen. Perfect for resting those weary legs after hiking through the Cornish country.

Rustic Vista

When you imagine a stereotypically Cornish cottage, this quaint whitewashed home covered in cascading roses can’t be far from the mark. 

Inside, this romance continues. The soft-hued interior is cosy and oh-so-delicate, with pretty pinks and soft greys mixed with nautical touches and vintage-style furnishings. That being said, the kitchen and bathroom lie on the more contemporary side.

Out through the back door, guests also get the run of a lush green garden with sea views, which you can admire while sitting on the patio with the barbecue smoking away in the background. In the local area, the pretty fishing port of Looe can be reached in around fifteen minutes on foot, while the sandy Plaidy Beach is only five minutes' walk. If you're in the mood for a longer excursion, the South West Coast Path is easily reached, too.

Sugar Flowers

Nestled between the historic seaside villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, this pet-friendly cottage puts you within strolling distance of the sea. Inside, it has a quaint, cosy feel, with an electric fireplace for warming up after blustery beach walks, sea views from the windows and a twin bedroom that's ideal for children. As for the location, these neighbouring villages are quieter than many along this stretch of coastline, offering scenic walking routes, local restaurants, shops and cafes, all just a short walk from your front door. 

Tide's Edge Cottage

Just steps away from the beach, this home is perfect for larger groups planning a seaside getaway. Situated in the charming hamlet of Portwinkle, it's a peaceful spot where you can begin your Cornish coastal adventures. 

The open-plan living space is a beautiful, contemporary space with huge windows. On rainy days you can flop down on the sofa and watch the waves, before cooking up a hearty family feast in the smart kitchen. When the sun is shining, you'll love relaxing on the balcony with a cool drink. Then, round off each evening with a long, luxurious soak in the hot tub while the kids play table tennis in the games room. 

Just 100m away you'll find the little local beach – it's perfect for taking a dip or practicing your paddleboarding. If you fancy a change of scene, the long, sandy Tregantle Beach is just a short drive away, and there are plenty of hidden coves to discover dotted along the coast. And, hikers can don their boots and join the nearby South West Coastal Path, for an invigorating walk with spectacular vistas.
