Just ten minutes' walk from your front door, you'll come across the breathtaking azure waters of the steeply shelving Porthcurno Beach, while the clifftop setting of the open-air Minack Theatre has to be seen to be believed.

Intrepid coastal explorers will be rewarded with secluded coves and peaceful beaches, away from the crowds. Meanwhile, keen surfers will want to check conditions at nearby Sennen Cove. Its exposed location jutting out into the North Atlantic means it springs into action at the sniff of some swell.

If you're not too tired from hours-long surf sessions, why not instigate a bit of friendly competition on the tennis courts opposite. Alternatively, anyone who prefers to soak up some sun can relax on one of two patios – one receives the morning rays, while the other is bathed in sunlight in the afternoon.

Inside, a spacious kitchen diner makes for sociable evenings as you prepare dinner together. And when the sun isn't shining, the cosy living room is perfect for putting your feet up and relaxing at the end of an action-packed day. We loved this home’s wooden deck – with stunning sea views, a dining table, barbecue, two loungers and Adirondacks facing the ocean, it’s fully equipped for time well-spent outside. Factor in that you’re less than a ten-minute walk from the beach and you have a real winner. Meander down the South West Coast Path to laidback Sennen Cove with its stretch of golden sand and tropical-blue water. Here Cornish fishermen brush shoulders with tousle-haired surfers. We recommend renting a board and catching a wave – there are two highly-rated surf schools in the area. When you return home, hit the outdoor shower and set your wetsuits to dry in the warm utility room before heading inside, where you’ll find it’s just as lovely as its surroundings – smart and minimal with touches of nautical chic. We especially love the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living area. Kick back on the sofas and play a board game or puzzle all together. Then gather around the light wood table for a feast before retiring to the bedrooms for some restful sleep, knowing there’s another beautiful seaside morning waiting for you when you awake.

Admire the sweeping views of Sennen Cove down below as you stroll up the coastal path to reach this home. Whether you're relaxing on the L-shaped sofa with a glass of wine or soaking in the roll-top bath, you'll be able to take in the stunning seascape from the home's huge windows. It's a two-minute stroll to Sennen Cove Beach, so you could easily spend most of your time here sunbathing, surfing or going for walks along the shore. At night, gaze through the Celestron Short Reflector Telescope to admire the stars, or head to one of the pubs a five-minute saunter away for a traditional meal and a local brew. Land's End, the most westerly point in Britain, is just over a twenty-five-minute walk (or seven-minute drive) – take in the amazing vistas, or have your photo taken by the famous signpost.

Located in the small town of St Levan, this home is perfectly placed for family beach holidays and getaways with your friends. Start your mornings here with a cup of tea and breakfast at the kitchen island before exploring everything the Cornish coast has to offer. 

Renowned for its snow-white sands and turquoise-blue waters, Porthcurno Beach is situated in a small cove between grassy headlands and is reachable in just four minutes by car or if you fancy a long walk, you can reach it on foot in thirty-three minutes. The large boulder formations here add to the beaches striking appearance and also provide great conditions for both bodyboarding and swimming. What’s more, backing the beach is the iconic open-air Minack theatre with its Grecian architecture and panoramic views over the bay. From May until September, you will be able to experience a variety of plays and concerts with an incredible ocean backdrop stretching to Logan Rock headland in the distance. 

For Cornwall’s famous surfing waves, Porthchapel Beach is a short five-minute drive away. Plus, there is plenty of beautiful scenery and attractions on offer with easy reach from this home including, Penzance – a nineteen-minute drive away, and Land’s End – reachable in eight minutes by car. 

In the late afternoon, we would love nothing more than to spend some time in the home’s wrap-around garden, sunbathing on the loungers and enjoying a Cornwall cream tea at the picnic table. Just remember that in Cornwall it's jam then cream. The landscaped garden is also great for family garden games. Plus, there is also offers a barbecue and firepit, making it the ideal spot for cooking and dining alfresco with pastel views.

Bounded on two sides by National Trust land, this picture-perfect Cornwall home is in the middle of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the perfect place to come and get away from it all. You aren't wholly isolated here, though, as the charming local village of Treen has a shop, a cafe and a good, old-fashioned Cornish pub just a two-minute walk away. Also within walking distance is Pedn Vounder Beach, only fifteen minutes away on foot, which is an excellent place to laze in the sand and splash around in the turquoise sea. Built in the 1930s, this idyllic hideaway has been in the host's family for decades, and you can sense that welcoming atmosphere as soon as you step through the front door. Original period features have been beautifully brought back to life, including a gorgeous walnut fireplace with a cosy wood-burning stove. There's plenty of snug seating – whether you want to stretch out, curl up with a book from the library or admire the views – and the kitchen is designed with entertaining in mind. But the garden is the real stand-out. It's set on several different levels, with all sorts of nooks and crannies to tuck yourself away in. It's the ideal spot to enjoy afternoon tea and evening cocktails, surrounded by apple trees, an herb garden and wild hydrangea bushes that feel like something out of a fairytale.

Once declared 'the loveliest village in England' by Dylan Thomas, 'Mowzul' is an ever-popular place to visit with narrow streets lined with historic cottages. Set over three floors, this former fisherman's loft is Grade II listed and has just the right balance of character features and modern, coastal-inspired styling. On the ground floor, a modern, eat-in kitchen provides everything you'll need for cooking at home, while the comfortable living room upstairs has the home's main entrance, an electric fire and a charming window seat. The top floor bedrooms are pretty special and we particularly love the vaulted ceilings and clever internal porthole windows. From the master bedroom, you can even see across to St Clement's Isle and beyond – what could be better? Stroll to the nearby, shops, cafes and restaurants or drive to Lamorna Cove (ten minutes) or Penzance (fifteen minutes).

Tucked away in Mousehole's narrow, winding streets, this home's location is straight out of a fairytale – perched on a hill above the harbour, the living room and rooftop terrace look onto soft blue stretches of Cornish sea. If you'd like to explore further afield, head east to Perranuthnoe Beach, Praa Sands and Porthleven Beach, or south-west to Pedn Vounder Beach and the stunning Minack Theatre – all within a twenty-five-minute drive of your home.

Situated in Mousehole, one of Cornwall’s prettiest fishing villages, this cottage is a cosy stay from which to explore the coast and beyond. The interiors are neutral-toned and homespun, with the occasional nod to the abode’s nautical surroundings. Spend late mornings pottering around the kitchen-living space; slather Cornish clotted cream on scones and enjoy with a pot of tea on the sun trap patio. Slip on your sandals and take a stroll along the harbour, just metres from your doorstep. Dip in and out of locally-owned galleries and cafes before settling in with an ice-cool beverage by the water’s edge. When you’re keen to expend a little more energy, lace up your walking shoes and set off on the fifty-four-minute ramble to Lamorna Cove Beach. Just under twenty minutes in the car will see you arrive at Land's End, Britain's most south-westerly point and a famous landmark.

This seaside cottage occupies a wonderful spot just beside the harbour in Mousehole. With plenty of traditional charm, it makes a great place to put your feet up and relax between your Cornish adventures. 

There's a nautical theme running throughout the home – look out for the lobster-printed cushions, handsome blue detailing, and even a glimpse of the sea from the window. On chilly days, you can throw a log on the fire and get comfy on the sofa with a good book and a glass of red wine. And, when you get hungry, you can whip up some family favourites in the kitchen, before serving your culinary creations at the cosy dining table. 

Mousehole Harbour is a sandy spot, so we think you'll spend much of your time paddling, eating ice cream, and watching the boats bobbing in the water. Culture fans will be delighted to discover that the little village is home to a few art galleries. And, if you fancy a day trip, you can visit hidden coves, ancient stone circles, and the historic port of Penzance, all within easy driving distance.

This gorgeous home can be found on the hill behind Mousehole, under a mile away, in the traditional village of Paul. There you’ll find a cosy pub and a 15th-century parish church – if you’re looking for authentic English charm, look no further. It’s in the heart of the Cornish countryside but still close to the coast, making it popular with hikers and surfers alike. We love Sennen beach for the waves, but Penzance is just as easy to get to if you prefer building sandcastles. 

The house has been recently refurbished with much love. Muted hues and natural textiles are key to the style of this laid-back, comfortable home-from-home. When you’re not lounging inside or dining at the farmhouse-style table, you’ll likely be enjoying the fabulous outside space. 

Let the kids tire themselves out playing on the lawn, in the Wendy house, on the swings, or playing table tennis. Meanwhile, you can slip into the hot tub with a glass of something bubbly and really start to unwind. An escape to the seaside is good for the soul – there’s nothing quite like sea air and pretty views. This home can be found just outside of Mousehole, on the edge of the small village of Paul. You’ll wake up to sea views each morning, and also benefit from some real peace and quiet. 

Begin your day with a hearty cooked breakfast served at the twelve-seat dining table. From there you can admire the greenery outside – perhaps you’ll be tempted to follow your meal with a stroll around the orchard. Find a peaceful spot next to the pond and sip your coffee, revelling in the tranquillity. If the weather stops play, there’s always a comfy seat by an open fire – choose from the living room and sitting room, where you’ll also find a piano. Children will love splashing about in the heated indoor swimming pool. 

Of course with a visit to the seaside, you’ll want to spend time near the sea. It takes seven minutes to drive to Newlyn Tolcarne Beach, where you can build sandcastles, paddle and skim stones. Later on in the day, you might drive to Mousehole Harbour – just five minutes away – to admire the boats and tuck into fish and chips. This home was built in 1868 but its location is timeless.

Indoors, we love the contemporary design, and that the twin room can be set up for a couple instead. Though the bathtubs offer relaxation, take care not to bump your head on sloped ceilings. You can reach Newlyn on foot, but the well-known Penzance is only a ten-minute drive from here.

The Bay Dreams

The picturesque fishing village of Mousehole may not be one of Cornwall's most famous hotspots, but it's certainly one of the most beautiful and this home is in the perfect position for exploring it. A short stroll to the centre of its tiny town and a three-minute wander from the sparkling harbour, filled with restaurants, bars and fishing boats. The surrounding area offers plenty to see and do, including many glorious places to eat, but it's always lovely returning back to this cosy cottage. Curl up with a good book under the warmth of the wood-burning stove or sink into the deep sofa seat with a glass of wine. You'll notice plenty of personal touches, from local artwork to quirky adornments, as well as low-beamed ceilings that make for a homely country-style living space to relax. In warmer months, the large garden with the full range of outdoor furniture calls out for lazy days spent in the sun sipping alfresco drinks. Inside and out, this home is the perfect size for a romantic break in a quieter Cornish village.

And for the full experience, we highly recommend a classic Cornish pasty or fish and chips on the beach for a satisfying lunch. 

Return home and wash off the sand in your outdoor shower before enjoying a few drinks in the garden. The barbecue is ready to go to cook up a feast, or you could enjoy a homecooked dinner around the dining table inside if the weather starts to chill. There's nothing more homely than gathering around with family and friends in a Cornish cottage, while the traditional fireplace warms you up from the inside out.
