Stood beside a 19th-century lighthouse on a headland between the sandy bays of Harlyn and Constantine, the location of this cottage makes quite a first impression. One of four holiday cottages within the estate, the panoramic views are spectacular from the communal gardens. Though if the weather doesn’t buck up, the vistas are just as dramatic sat around the dining table inside. When you’re ready to soak up the Cornish bustle, beloved Padstow is just four miles west. But be prepared to drive along a one-mile-long private narrow road first –⁠ all part of the adventure, we say.

Beacons of Light

Bright, modern and exceptionally styled, this enviably positioned home overlooks the sandy Gannel Estuary. Inside, an L-shaped sofa and comfy armchair are perfectly angled in front of a wall of west-facing panoramic windows. Spend evenings here reflecting on the day’s events with a glass of fizz in hand as the sun sets over the landscape. The kitchen is fully-equipped with Miele appliances, so don your chef’s hat and rustle up something tasty for your brood. If the weather’s on your side, take your plates out to the garden and dine in the glorious sunshine. 

When you’re ready to explore, Fistral Beach is only a five-minute drive away – or forty-minute walk if you fancy stretching your legs. Watch the waves roll in from Huer's Hut then try your hand at surfing on Newquay Beach. As the evening draws in, sit down to a slap-up fish supper in a revered restaurant before heading back to your pad for a gin and tonic on the main bedroom’s private balcony. 

Sun Meets Tide

Set within walking distance of Tolcarne Beach and Lusty Glaze, if you’ve been dreaming of sandy strolls along the seafront, this place has got your name written all over it.

Kitted out with all the best appliances and state of the art technology, get set to prep food with nifty Neff appliances and brew your morning coffee with the handy Nespresso machine. 
It’s contemporary but cosy. A spacious open plan living area presents the perfect place to gather in the evenings, meanwhile the luxurious bedrooms are laden with Egyptian cotton sheets, promising the best possible night’s sleep. 

We love the attention to detail in this place. Subtle nautical touches are peppered from room to room and natural textured furnishings add an earthy appeal. We love the jute rugs, woven baskets and pebble displays, but for us, it’s the wooden surfboard and paddle board that really bring the wow factor. 

Start each day with fresh fruit salad at the breakfast bar before retreating to the private garden with a hot, creamy latte. Soak up that first glimpse of morning sun and inhale the invigorating sea breeze before swapping your slippers for sandals and taking to the shore. 


Pink Glow

Experience the magic of the Cornish coast with a stay in this expansive beach house. You’ll be welcomed by sea views, locally sourced art, sculptures and designer furnishings. There’s plenty of space for socialising as well as cosy evenings by the wood burning fire or movie nights in the cinema room. All of the bedrooms come with sea views and three of them feature freestanding bathtubs – perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Outside, there’s a terrace, a barbecue and a garden path leading directly to Booby's Bay beach. From here, you can join the South West Coastal Path and it’s just a ten-minute drive into Padstow. There's also a golf course right next door.

For the adrenaline fans among you, try your hand at cycling, hiking, wild swimming or kayaking in the local area.

The kitchen is perfect for preparing meals at home, while the bedrooms feel comfortable and cosy, with all the charm of a real lived-in home. There are many marvellous things about this wood-panelled cottage, but its unique location at Mawgan Porth has to be the highlight. It's set right on the sand, with a private path bringing you down to the shoreline – meaning you can dip your toes in the sea within seconds of closing the door. The outdoor deck has a hot tub, where you can watch the sun go down with a glass of wine, along with a free-standing bath tub and dining area, for alfresco meals with a view of the Cornish coast. Inside, large windows usher in loads of sunlight, and a fireplace brings warmth on those cooler evenings. The unique bedrooms feature plush beds with ornate headboards, as well as one delightful four-poster bed fitted with sumptuous white curtains. Take a short drive to sample Padstow's famous seafood restaurants, admire the Bedruthan cliffs or enrol in surf school at Watergate Bay – there's something for everyone in this charming spot in North Cornwall. 

Dune Cottage

When it comes to dramatic scenery, few parts of the UK can rival Cornwall and you'll find yourself agreeing with this if you stay in this apartment with an uninterrupted view of Newquay Beach and the county's northern coastline. As it's on the ground floor of the building, it means that, out through the living room's glass doors, there's a terrace on which you can sit and admire this sweeping vista.

When you can finally draw your eyes away from what lies outside, you'll find a contemporary home shaped by stark white walls and sleek surfaces. There are a few nautical mementoes that nod to the local area, but you'll be happy to hear that these all fall on the tasteful side of things. As well as Newquay Beach awaiting just across the road, the South West Coast Path runs directly past the home and you can continue it in either direction to see a little more of the region's celebrated landscape. In local Newquay, there's a good choice of restaurants and bars to keep you refreshed, as well as an aquarium and a zoo.
