With a log burner to keep winter breaks toasty and an enclosed courtyard for fun in the summer sun, we think this cosy Cornish home is the bee's knees. Modern and unfussy, it's ideal for a family or a small group of friends. Everything you'll need taken care of, including a fully-stocked kitchen, fluffy towels and a delightful welcome basket filled with local goodies. This St Merryn home isn't far from the coast – just a five-minute drive, in fact – and there are hints to the seaside everywhere you look, from the beach hut blinds in the twin room to the pictures on the walls. The scent of lavender wafts in through the double doors on warm evenings, while the side patio is perfect for alfresco feasts as the afternoons draw to a close. Don't fancy cooking? Not a problem. You're never far from a great pub, with several to choose from in the village itself – including Rick Stein's The Cornish Arms – and an excellent bakery to boot. There are so many beaches nearby, you can sprawl out on a different one each day (the closest is Harlyn Bay Beach), but for a change of scenery, charming Padstow is just a ten-minute drive away.

Tucked away in the charming streets of Padstow, this laid-back cottage blends a youthful personality with rustic roots. That's why wooden beams, flagstone floors and crates repurposed as tables rub shoulders with industrial-chic lighting, comfy furnishings in bold colours and dazzlingly white bathrooms complete with rainfall showers. 

After a long day by the seaside, put your feet up in front of the log burner with a good book and a glass of wine in hand. We also liked the large blue kitchen, where you can cook up a storm when you're feeling peckish – the pendant lights hanging above the island are actually made from old kilner jars – as well as the bedrooms with their antique French beds, which will add a sense of occasion to your nightly routine. 

Although the local neighbourhood feels residential, the town's lively harbour and the surrounding cafes, gourmet restaurants and seaside pubs can be reached in under five minutes on foot. There's no shortage of beautiful beaches in North Cornwall either, with St George’s Cove a twenty-minute trek along the South West Coast Path and Hawker's Cove an eleven-minute drive away. All in all, it's a great place to call home on your Cornish getaway.

A big family home in the ever-popular town of Padstow, this place has plenty of wow factors – from rare private parking to stunning views across the River Camel estuary. Set on a slope, its three floors make the most of its position with views getting better and better at the top of the house. Inside, it's a tasteful blend of period features and contemporary styling, with a subtle nod towards its coastal location in its palette of whites, greys and blues. The Edwardian home has been thoroughly updated to provide a perfect spot for a large family getaway. There are two living rooms to choose from (one for the youngsters to hang out in, perhaps?) and a big kitchen diner with an Aga and everything you'll need to cook on night's in. We particularly love the big bedroom on the top floor, with its panoramic estuary views all the way across to Rock, and the semi-covered patio at the back where you can barbecue on sunny afternoons. The garden goes up in steps from the house, finally reaching a raised deck with a dining table and chairs – the ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and that famous view. Just minutes away on foot, Padstow's beautiful harbour and legendary dining scene offer all sorts of options, and it's just a short hike along the coast to the nearest beach. Or catch the foot ferry and paddle in the clear waters at Rock.

Padstow is one of Cornwall's most famous towns, and this home is in the perfect position for exploring it. A five-minute walk away from the harbour, the home is the right size for a family or small group of friends planning to decamp to this sought-after postcode. In warmer months, the house's two terraces have got 'alfresco drinks' written all over them – indulge in some people-watching from the front patio, or soak up the rays in the south-facing back garden. The fenced-in garden also has a barbecue for cooking up a feast, though the kitchen has plenty of equipment if the weather isn't playing ball. Wooden floorboards and old fireplaces hint at the home's history, with cosy touches such as deep sofas and throws in the lounge for keeping warm come the evening. You could spend days admiring the boats floating in the harbour and eating freshly-caught seafood in the local restaurants, and there are also plenty of coastal walks and sandy beaches to explore close by. Found in the quaint Cornish village of Trevone, this home is the key to unlocking the stretch of coast between the more popular options of Newquay and Polzeath. Start off at Trevone Bay and work your way towards Harlyn Bay Beach, Treyarnon Bay and Pentire Steps Beach without driving more than twenty minutes out. Be sure to stop off at the beautiful Trevose Head Lighthouse along the way. 

Reflecting the beauty of its coastal surroundings, the inside of the home has a calm sense about it. Soft blues, crisp whites and wooden elements make the vibrant colours of the dining set pop, adding a quirky touch to an otherwise sophisticated space. Sit around the table to eat or take your meals outside for an alfresco experience around the picnic-style bench.

Formerly a listed Manor House, Courthouse, and Mill, the building is filled with a sense of history as well as its own unique character and sense of place. Lounge in the luxurious living spaces or enjoy a special meal together with your loved ones in the grand dining room that's flooded with that inimitable Cornish coastal light. The fantastically well-equipped kitchen means there has never been a better time to dust off the old chef's apron and put your culinary skills to the test. The house is just a seven-minute walk from the centre of Padstow and its pretty, characterful harbour. Perhaps you’ll stroll into town first thing for breakfast in one of the many cafes and restaurants, before making your way to the beach. Lower Beach is our favourite, and it’s just an eighteen-minute walk from the house. Take along your bucket and spade and make memories in this most picturesque part of the UK. 

When you make your way back to the house, sun-kissed and sandy, fire up the barbecue. Spend your evening in the garden, admiring the views of the Camel Estuary and watching the sun slowly set. Evenings can be spent walking the coastal paths lit up by dramatic sunsets. And retreating indoors isn’t so bad either when you have a cosy wood-burning stove to greet you.

You couldn't ask for a better location for this seaside eco-lodge retreat. Nestled within peaceful farmlands, you'll find five of north Cornwall's most popular sandy beaches within five miles of your door –⁠ starting with Mawgan Porth, just a twenty-minute stroll away.

Follow the woodland path down to the local beach for sandcastle-making, picnics, and, if you time the tide right, surfing – there's a surf school with all the gear. Take a jaunt over to Padstow a twenty-minute drive away and mooch about the shops. Or just hang out back at the farm for the day. Kids will love feeding the chickens and the resident pony. At nightfall, cuddle up under the night sky and catch a shooting star. Located within the Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps dark sky area, stargazing doesn't get much better.

When it's finally time to retreat indoors, the lofty gabled roof, floor-to-ceiling windows, and pristine interiors make quite the first impression. Cuddle up beside the wood burner fire for movie nights – the underfloor heating powered by renewal energy keeps things toasty.

Spend idyllic days in the Cornish countryside when you stay at this recently converted barn, situated a twelve-minute drive from beautiful Padstow. Enjoy long walks on the South West Coast Path – the cliff tops at Park Head offer incredible views across to the sea stacks at Bedruthan Steps (a ten-minute ride away). Back at this wonderful barn – it's perfect for a family or a group of friends looking for a tranquil retreat. Inside, we were blown away by the rustic charm mixed with elegant modernism. We love the Delabole slate bathrooms, exposed stone walls and vaulted beams throughout this home. In fact, this place has been designed with socialising and entertaining in mind – it's a great space to spend quality time together. On chillier days, curl up in front of the cosy wood-burning stoves in the living room or den and settle in for an evening of board games with the family. There are four acres of grounds to explore here, including orchards and wildflower meadows. There's even an outdoor shower, so you can rinse off after visiting the beach – your lovely hosts have really thought of everything here.  Our favourite spot in the garden has to be the magical summerhouse – savour the spectacular views that stretch to the Atlantic Ocean or recline on the day bed and read a book. It's just one of the many fantastic features that make this home so very special.

Barn Mouse

With its harbour views and stylish interiors, this cottage in the heart of Padstow is the ideal base for those looking to escape to the Cornish coast. Pull open the living room’s windows to breathe in the salty air, perfumed with the smell of freshly baked bread from the local bakeries just outside. You’ll love kicking back on the sea-blue sectional with a glass of wine while revelling in the breeze or tucking into an order of fish and chips at the modern kitchen’s wooden dining table. With two comfortable bedrooms giving way to equally charming views as well as a sleek bathroom boasting a thermostatic rainfall shower, you’re sure to find your holiday bliss in this charming home. When you’re not out exploring Padstow’s bustling sights, head for the sands at St George's Cove (a fifteen-minute walk away) or take the ferry to Rock Beach (sixteen minutes away). Alternatively, rent a bike from the Trail Bike Hire (a seven-minute walk) to explore the scenic Camel Trail, eight minutes on foot from your door. 


Sailor's Delight

The calming sea breeze fills this sun-trapped garden, which is perfectly sized for a kick about or game of rounders. Inside, we love the blend of rustic charm that works seamlessly with modern touches. Plush sofas, pops of colour, and contemporary artwork lives harmoniously next to a wood burner, driftwood floors, and a large country table. It’s a wonderful, cheery place for friends and families to gather and catch up. However, if the sun’s shining in Cornwall, there’s only one place you want to be. Trevone beach is particularly handy, as it’s a mere two-minute walk away! The sandy beach is tucked into a bay, where you’ll see sandcastles and buckets and spades aplenty. It’s also a great place to go surfing, whether you’re a beginner or advanced. If you want a longer stretch of sand to let the dog run free, St George's Cove is just beautiful and only an eight-minute drive away.

The village of Trevone itself has a thriving community, who loves to welcome visitors. During summer, there are plenty of Fetes and activities to get involved in. You can reach the village in under ten minutes by foot, where you’ll find a cosy pub, farm shops, and cafes. Cornish living at its finest. 

A stay here isn’t complete without visiting the quaint fishing town of Padstow. Surrounded by glorious sandy beaches, simply strolling these charming streets and tucking into some fish and chips is a great way to spend the day. Or, there are plenty of boats to take you out to spot marine life around the harbour or just whizz you away on a speedboat. If you want to see more of Cornwall, a regular ferry takes visitors over to Rock, where you can stroll around Polzeath and Daymer Bay. You could also rent bikes from the harbour and head out further inland. After all that exploring, you’re bound to be hungry. If you’re a foodie, you’re in luck. Padstow is home to some of Cornwall’s best and most loved restaurants, including Rick Stein’s famous seafood restaurant and Paul Ainsworth’s No 6. 

Morlanar

A recently updated space, Treasure Box welcomes four guests to enjoy a few days in Padstow. This home is ideally located in a quiet but central position just moments from Padstow Harbour. Plus, there’s free parking so that you may easily explore all that this part of Cornwall has to offer without any stress. Inside, the dining and living room invites friendly socialising, while the kitchen is fully equipped and ready for wonderful home-cooking. Thanks to the outdoor dining table, guests lucky enough to stay at Treasure Box can also enjoy dining al fresco on the charming terrace with views of the coast and estuary. When you’re ready to head out for the day, you’ll be delighted to find yourself surrounded by pubs, shops, cafes and more. The nearest beach is a little outside of the town but still only a fifteen-minute walk away.

Treasure Box

This home is a mere 10-minute walk to Portcothan Bay; one of those mythical English beaches with golden sand, surfing, and watersports. Nearby Padstow, a 15-minute drive away, is famous for its local food and restaurants, including Rick Stein's Cafe and Paul Ainsworth at No.6. The Trevose Country Club will satiate your resident golfer (and also houses a spa), and there are several National Trust hotspots around, such as the Bedruthan Steps; a coastline walk you won't forget. What's more, even during bad weather, there's plenty to do. Cosy up by the novel wood burner after a country walk or throw the glass doors open and eat and drink on the patio on a warm balmy night. The open-plan living and dining space is ideal for a larger group, and the kitchen is kitted out for cooking at home and a seamless night in enjoying the warm, rustic aesthetic.


Bay and Burner

In the popular foodie town of Padstow, this terraced home is a 10 minutes’ walk away from the harbour and a 5 minutes’ walk from the popular hiking trails Saint’s Way and Camel Trail. Families will have plenty to entertain them – the lounge comes stocked with board games, books and Blu-ray DVDs as well as a DAB radio and Bluetooth sound system. Dinner is made easy by the electric oven and gas hob in the kitchen, though you’ll also want to check out the town’s famous seafood restaurants. On summer evenings when the light lasts until late, unwind on the terrace with a bottle of sparkling wine.

A Dance With Daffodils

From Poldark to Daphne du Maurier and Rosamund Pilcher, Cornwall has been the setting for many romantic brooding novels about passionate hearts and secret loves. Now, you can have your own Cornish romance in this charming cottage, a fifteen-minute walk from Padstow. Glorious sandy beaches surround this town, and it's known for fishing and the high-end restaurants of celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth too.

Back at this home, whip up a Cornish cream tea in the modern kitchen with its metro tiles and breakfast bar and enjoy it at one of two outdoor tables (at the front or back) – our favourite is the front garden with its lawn and drystone wall. This lovely cottage is the perfect retreat for two.


A Cornish Romance

Families or groups of friends craving some adventure in North Cornwall will feel right at home at this beautiful cottage. Set in the rolling green countryside, it's the ideal place to kick back and relax between your excursions – and there's plenty to see right on your doorstep. 

Step inside, and your eyes will instantly be drawn to the vaulted ceiling and double-height window framing the gorgeous rural views outside. On chilly evenings you can light up the wood-burning stove and get cosy with a good movie, while in the summer months, you can head outside to the patio for an alfresco meal in the sunshine.

This is a dark sky area, meaning that you can admire the constellations with very little light pollution after dark. You're also in the ideal location to explore the Cornish coastline – Mawgan Porth beach is a leisurely twenty-minute walk away, and the famous surfer town of Newquay is a fifteen-minute drive away. And, if you're a fan of outdoor activities, then you can take your pick from kayaking, cycling, ziplining, and much more nearby.

Sea views, cosy rooms and a peaceful garden – this home welcomes you to enjoy it all from its privileged spot overlooking Mawgan Porth. Located on a private road, guests can enjoy a wonderful sense of seclusion while also having easy access to the nearest beach, shops and pub (just half a mile away). It’s also a great base from which to explore the region with Padstow and Newquay both within driving distance. Back at home, evenings can be spent relaxing in the snug living room or stargazing by the outdoor fire pit.

There are many marvellous things about this wood-panelled cottage, but its unique location at Mawgan Porth has to be the highlight. It's set right on the sand, with a private path bringing you down to the shoreline – meaning you can dip your toes in the sea within seconds of closing the door. The outdoor deck has a hot tub, where you can watch the sun go down with a glass of wine, along with a free-standing bath tub and dining area, for alfresco meals with a view of the Cornish coast. Inside, large windows usher in loads of sunlight, and a fireplace brings warmth on those cooler evenings. The unique bedrooms feature plush beds with ornate headboards, as well as one delightful four-poster bed fitted with sumptuous white curtains. Take a short drive to sample Padstow's famous seafood restaurants, admire the Bedruthan cliffs or enrol in surf school at Watergate Bay – there's something for everyone in this charming spot in North Cornwall. 

Dune Cottage

There’s a space to put a smile on everyone’s face at this easy-breezy beach retreat on the north coast of Cornwall. Kids will love the games room, complete with table football, Wii games and a 50” Smart TV, while adults can relax by the crackling fire in the adjoining living room, conveniently closed off by double doors. Don’t forget the family dog, who will love the lawn and endless seaside walks. Leash up and saunter down the gorse-lined lane to Constantine Bay, just a 15 minute walk away, or hop in the car to explore other nearby beaches.
