With a log burner to keep winter breaks toasty and an enclosed courtyard for fun in the summer sun, we think this cosy Cornish home is the bee's knees. Modern and unfussy, it's ideal for a family or a small group of friends. Everything you'll need taken care of, including a fully-stocked kitchen, fluffy towels and a delightful welcome basket filled with local goodies. This St Merryn home isn't far from the coast – just a five-minute drive, in fact – and there are hints to the seaside everywhere you look, from the beach hut blinds in the twin room to the pictures on the walls. The scent of lavender wafts in through the double doors on warm evenings, while the side patio is perfect for alfresco feasts as the afternoons draw to a close. Don't fancy cooking? Not a problem. You're never far from a great pub, with several to choose from in the village itself – including Rick Stein's The Cornish Arms – and an excellent bakery to boot. There are so many beaches nearby, you can sprawl out on a different one each day (the closest is Harlyn Bay Beach), but for a change of scenery, charming Padstow is just a ten-minute drive away.

Found in the quaint Cornish village of Trevone, this home is the key to unlocking the stretch of coast between the more popular options of Newquay and Polzeath. Start off at Trevone Bay and work your way towards Harlyn Bay Beach, Treyarnon Bay and Pentire Steps Beach without driving more than twenty minutes out. Be sure to stop off at the beautiful Trevose Head Lighthouse along the way. 

Reflecting the beauty of its coastal surroundings, the inside of the home has a calm sense about it. Soft blues, crisp whites and wooden elements make the vibrant colours of the dining set pop, adding a quirky touch to an otherwise sophisticated space. Sit around the table to eat or take your meals outside for an alfresco experience around the picnic-style bench. 

Bookworms will delight in the little library on offer here – select whatever draws you in most and curl up on the sofa next to the wood-burning stove to read whilst nursing a freshly brewed coffee from the cafetiere. 

The conservatory makes for a great social space, so gather together after dinner to enjoy a bottle, or two, of wine before taking a soak in the tub before doing it all again the next day.

Just a minute’s walk from the harbour, and Rick Stein’s world famous fish and chips, it also has generous living rooms, a large patio garden and ample parking. Other highlights include a spa bath, 65” smart TV with Bluetooth speakers and modern furniture which gives the whole space a fresh, clean feel. Take a short foot ferry across to Rock for great beaches and more great seafood restaurants - or bring the catch of the day home for home-cooking.

Padstow is one of Cornwall's most famous towns, and this home is in the perfect position for exploring it. A five-minute walk away from the harbour, the home is the right size for a family or small group of friends planning to decamp to this sought-after postcode. In warmer months, the house's two terraces have got 'alfresco drinks' written all over them – indulge in some people-watching from the front patio, or soak up the rays in the south-facing back garden. The fenced-in garden also has a barbecue for cooking up a feast, though the kitchen has plenty of equipment if the weather isn't playing ball. Wooden floorboards and old fireplaces hint at the home's history, with cosy touches such as deep sofas and throws in the lounge for keeping warm come the evening. You could spend days admiring the boats floating in the harbour and eating freshly-caught seafood in the local restaurants, and there are also plenty of coastal walks and sandy beaches to explore close by. This is seaside living at its very best.

A big family home in the ever-popular town of Padstow, this place has plenty of wow factors – from rare private parking to stunning views across the River Camel estuary. Set on a slope, its three floors make the most of its position with views getting better and better at the top of the house. Inside, it's a tasteful blend of period features and contemporary styling, with a subtle nod towards its coastal location in its palette of whites, greys and blues. The Edwardian home has been thoroughly updated to provide a perfect spot for a large family getaway. There are two living rooms to choose from (one for the youngsters to hang out in, perhaps?) and a big kitchen diner with an Aga and everything you'll need to cook on night's in. We particularly love the big bedroom on the top floor, with its panoramic estuary views all the way across to Rock, and the semi-covered patio at the back where you can barbecue on sunny afternoons. The garden goes up in steps from the house, finally reaching a raised deck with a dining table and chairs – the ideal place to enjoy the sunshine and that famous view. Just minutes away on foot, Padstow's beautiful harbour and legendary dining scene offer all sorts of options, and it's just a short hike along the coast to the nearest beach. Or catch the foot ferry and paddle in the clear waters at Rock.

Stood beside a 19th-century lighthouse on a headland between the sandy bays of Harlyn and Constantine, the location of this cottage makes quite a first impression. One of four holiday cottages within the estate, the panoramic views are spectacular from the communal gardens. Though if the weather doesn’t buck up, the vistas are just as dramatic sat around the dining table inside. When you’re ready to soak up the Cornish bustle, beloved Padstow is just four miles west. But be prepared to drive along a one-mile-long private narrow road first –⁠ all part of the adventure, we say.

Popular fishing town Padstow is one of North Cornwall's finest areas, where cyclists, walkers, sun seekers and lobster enthusiasts meet. Camel Claw, positioned near the top of a hilly residential road, is a short walk down to the harbour, from where you can embark on fishing trips or hire a bike to cycle the Camel Trail down to the neighbouring town of Wadebridge. Then there's the National Lobster Hatchery, an award-winning centre dedicated to lobster conservation and research. Further afield, the Eden Project is a forty-minute drive away and an essential day out. Whatever you do, come home to this colourful cottage - and relax.

Sophisticated navy and pretty powder blues replace the searing shades of beach umbrellas, and there’s no mistaking that magnificent stone fireplace and wood-burning stove as anything close to tacky. Right in the heart of Cornwall’s Padstow, we think this Grade II listed home would be a welcome oasis of calm and tranquility for any getaway. Return from a long day on the beach to relax in the sunny garden or sink into one of the sumptuous velvet couches, before heading out again for dinner in one of the many acclaimed restaurants nearby.

La La Lilypad

Tucked away in the charming streets of Padstow, this laid-back cottage blends a youthful personality with rustic roots. That's why wooden beams, flagstone floors and crates repurposed as tables rub shoulders with industrial-chic lighting, comfy furnishings in bold colours and dazzlingly white bathrooms complete with rainfall showers. 

After a long day by the seaside, put your feet up in front of the log burner with a good book and a glass of wine in hand. We also liked the large blue kitchen, where you can cook up a storm when you're feeling peckish – the pendant lights hanging above the island are actually made from old kilner jars – as well as the bedrooms with their antique French beds, which will add a sense of occasion to your nightly routine. 

Although the local neighbourhood feels residential, the town's lively harbour and the surrounding cafes, gourmet restaurants and seaside pubs can be reached in under five minutes on foot. There's no shortage of beautiful beaches in North Cornwall either, with St George’s Cove a twenty-minute trek along the South West Coast Path and Hawker's Cove an eleven-minute drive away. All in all, it's a great place to call home on your Cornish getaway.

Formerly a listed Manor House, Courthouse, and Mill, the building is filled with a sense of history as well as its own unique character and sense of place. Part of a restored Victorian lighthouse, this home is one of the most unique to be found on the Cornish coast. Spend a peaceful morning watching the fishing boats coming in and out of Padstow – there are almost panoramic views of the sea from the garden. Head down to the nearby Harlyn Bay, a sheltered family beach with a wide crescent of yellow sand, rock pools and safe swimming (a lifeguard is on duty in the summer months). The Eden Project is a thirty-minute drive away, and there are plenty of bistros and cafes nearby, including Rick Stein's seafood restaurant. Evenings can be spent walking the coastal paths lit up by dramatic sunsets. And retreating indoors isn’t so bad either when you have a cosy wood-burning stove to greet you.

A recently updated space, Treasure Box welcomes four guests to enjoy a few days in Padstow. This home is ideally located in a quiet but central position just moments from Padstow Harbour. Plus, there’s free parking so that you may easily explore all that this part of Cornwall has to offer without any stress. Inside, the dining and living room invites friendly socialising, while the kitchen is fully equipped and ready for wonderful home-cooking. Thanks to the outdoor dining table, guests lucky enough to stay at Treasure Box can also enjoy dining al fresco on the charming terrace with views of the coast and estuary. When you’re ready to head out for the day, you’ll be delighted to find yourself surrounded by pubs, shops, cafes and more. The nearest beach is a little outside of the town but still only a fifteen-minute walk away.

The house is just a seven-minute walk from the centre of Padstow and its pretty, characterful harbour. Perhaps you’ll stroll into town first thing for breakfast in one of the many cafes and restaurants, before making your way to the beach. Lower Beach is our favourite, and it’s just an eighteen-minute walk from the house. Take along your bucket and spade and make memories in this most picturesque part of the UK. 

When you make your way back to the house, sun-kissed and sandy, fire up the barbecue. Spend your evening in the garden, admiring the views of the Camel Estuary and watching the sun slowly set. The garden is the jewel in the crown of this lovely home, with comfortable seating and bi-folding doors than can be opened wide to give the living space a holiday feel.

Known for its sparkling harbour, Rock ferry and critically adored fish and chips, Padstow is one of Cornwall's most sought-after villages – and this period townhouse is the perfect spot to explore it from. Just half a mile to the beach and surrounded by traditional British pubs, gourmet restaurants and shops, everything is well within reach here. Awarded a stunning face-lift by a restoration project early in 2018, the modern interiors come as a pleasant surprise. Stepping into the living room you'll notice many of the home's original features from the intricate fireplace, high ceilings and wooden flooring – but move into the kitchen and be struck by the sleek white cooking island, pristine tiled flooring and the sociable open-plan layout. From the dramatic spotlighting to a glass-topped dining table, this home will have you relaxing in style. Outside, the spot's pretty terrace calls out for alfresco drinks in the sunshine. In warmer months, fire up the barbecue and wait for the meat to sizzle with a nice glass of wine in the fresh ocean air. On chillier evenings, stroll into town for pub grub and sundown walks along the seafront.

Chances are, you'll want to spend all your time here appreciating it – your host has thought of everything, making this the perfect place for family holidays and celebrations alike. From the cedar hot tub to the outside seating for twenty, two fire pits, a live-in house manager, an incredible gym and your very own boat mooring – you'll want for nothing. We wouldn't blame you for staying put, but if you do want to venture out, you won't be short of things to do. In the summertime, why not try a spot of kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding? Just speak with your host to arrange it.

From Land to Sea

We all dream of having our own private beach, don’t we? Here, you can make that fantasy a reality – well, almost. You won’t quite have sole use of Constantine Bay, one of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches, but there is a path that leads directly from this home to the golden sands and it’s less than a ten-minute walk. 

The spacious, modern house is perfect for large family holidays, with six bedrooms and a wealth of games to keep the kids from squabbling on rainy days. Challenge your guests to a game of table tennis, or get cosy in the living room as you admire the countryside views. When the sun is shining, you can mix a G&T and head outside to the balcony for a better look, while the kids run wild on the grassy lawn. And, when it's time to eat, the whole group can gather for an alfresco feast freshly cooked on the barbeque. 

If you fancy a change from Constantine Bay, you can wander down to Treyarnon Bay in just fifteen minutes, or hop in the car to drive to Porthcothan Beach in ten minutes. Golfers will be delighted that the local course is just a seven-minute walk away, and if you're craving some adventure then there are plenty of activities to try – take your pick from hiking, surfing, and even cliff jumping. 

As the Curlew Flies

The calming sea breeze fills this sun-trapped garden, which is perfectly sized for a kick about or game of rounders. Inside, we love the blend of rustic charm that works seamlessly with modern touches. Plush sofas, pops of colour, and contemporary artwork lives harmoniously next to a wood burner, driftwood floors, and a large country table. It’s a wonderful, cheery place for friends and families to gather and catch up. However, if the sun’s shining in Cornwall, there’s only one place you want to be. Trevone beach is particularly handy, as it’s a mere two-minute walk away! The sandy beach is tucked into a bay, where you’ll see sandcastles and buckets and spades aplenty. It’s also a great place to go surfing, whether you’re a beginner or advanced. If you want a longer stretch of sand to let the dog run free, St George's Cove is just beautiful and only an eight-minute drive away.

The village of Trevone itself has a thriving community, who loves to welcome visitors. During summer, there are plenty of Fetes and activities to get involved in. You can reach the village in under ten minutes by foot, where you’ll find a cosy pub, farm shops, and cafes. Cornish living at its finest. 

A stay here isn’t complete without visiting the quaint fishing town of Padstow. Surrounded by glorious sandy beaches, simply strolling these charming streets and tucking into some fish and chips is a great way to spend the day. Or, there are plenty of boats to take you out to spot marine life around the harbour or just whizz you away on a speedboat. If you want to see more of Cornwall, a regular ferry takes visitors over to Rock, where you can stroll around Polzeath and Daymer Bay. You could also rent bikes from the harbour and head out further inland. After all that exploring, you’re bound to be hungry. If you’re a foodie, you’re in luck. Padstow is home to some of Cornwall’s best and most loved restaurants, including Rick Stein’s famous seafood restaurant and Paul Ainsworth’s No 6.

Sitting close to the point where the River Camel meets the Celtic Sea, there are many a reason to pay a visit to Padstow and whatever it is that brings you to this charming fishing town, this home offers a reliable place to rest your head at night.

There's a refreshing simplicity to the design, with no risks taken with the white walls, smart wooden floors and mid-century-inspired furnishings. However, it all feels contemporary enough and is a suitably relaxing space to return to after outdoor expeditions. The dining room next to the glass door has a bright and airy ambience, but if the weather's on your side, you can opt instead to gather together in the hydrangea-filled garden.

When you want to see a little more of the locale, Padstow Harbour is only a quarter of an hour's walk away and there's a wide choice of seafood restaurants to be discovered nearby, too. This being Cornwall, you can rest assured that there are some beautiful beaches close by, too – Trevone Bay is just over five minutes' drive away, for instance.

Spend idyllic days in the Cornish countryside when you stay at this recently converted barn, situated a twelve-minute drive from beautiful Padstow. Enjoy long walks on the South West Coast Path – the cliff tops at Park Head offer incredible views across to the sea stacks at Bedruthan Steps (a ten-minute ride away). Back at this wonderful barn – it's perfect for a family or a group of friends looking for a tranquil retreat. Inside, we were blown away by the rustic charm mixed with elegant modernism. We love the Delabole slate bathrooms, exposed stone walls and vaulted beams throughout this home. In fact, this place has been designed with socialising and entertaining in mind – it's a great space to spend quality time together. On chillier days, curl up in front of the cosy wood-burning stoves in the living room or den and settle in for an evening of board games with the family. There are four acres of grounds to explore here, including orchards and wildflower meadows. There's even an outdoor shower, so you can rinse off after visiting the beach – your lovely hosts have really thought of everything here.  Our favourite spot in the garden has to be the magical summerhouse – savour the spectacular views that stretch to the Atlantic Ocean or recline on the day bed and read a book. It's just one of the many fantastic features that make this home so very special.

From the incredible sun deck, private freestanding tub and the beach barbecue area to the roaring wood burner in the living room, this home is perfectly set up to make the most of its enviable location, whatever the weather. 

The open-plan kitchen and dining room is decorated in white, with plenty of blonde wood that serves to remind you of the beach. There's a wood burner to keep you cosy on blustery days, while there are French doors that lead out onto a large decking area that can be flung open when the sun's out.

Elsewhere in the home, uncover a soothing colour palette of greens, blues and oranges that echo the breathtaking sea views and jaw-dropping sunsets that you'll witness from the west-facing terrace. It's a theme that continues through to the tranquil bedrooms including the main room's stylish Soho House bed.
