If you arrive by car, do note that there is no private parking available on-site – the local public car parks of Fowey are just a five-minute stroll away. Or, take advantage of the train route to Par and then the 20-minute bus to Fowey, if you'd prefer to leave the car at home.



Wild Flowers & Watercress

Some homes are designed around a view and this is one of them. Perched close to the Cornish coastline, it's possible to gaze out at peaceful vistas of Swanpool lagoon or Falmouth Bay, depending on which of the floor-to-ceiling windows you're standing next to at any given moment. The best spot at the address, however, has to be the covered balcony, from which you can enjoy the coastal panorama with a sea breeze on your skin.

One added benefit of all this glass is the copious amount of natural light that it lets into the home and this asset is emphasised by the preference for stark white in the walls and the kitchen's sleek surfaces. The home's design is definitely shaped by contemporary minimalism, which will really sing to those who have no time for nautical kitsch found in plenty of local properties.

As a glimpse out the windows will tell you, the sea isn't all too far away – in fact, you can be standing on the sands of Swanpool beach in under five minutes' walk. This seaside spot sits on the South West Coast Path, so you can ramble on in either direction if you so wish. The town of Falmouth will take you half an hour to reach on foot, too.

Tucked away in Mevagissey, this quaint cottage oozes coastal charm. An effortless mix of old and new, you’re hit by bold, brilliant blue cabinetry that’s sleek and modern, sitting alongside exposed stonework and wooden beams as you step into the kitchen. We love the attention to detail with the decor, with the seaside vibe flowing throughout the home – our particular favourite is the seagull pattern you’ll find on cushions and lampshades, carrying you on a tour around the cottage. Spend quiet evenings curled up on the corner sofa to enjoy a movie night or get lost in a story with your holiday read – it’s the perfect way to relax after a busy day exploring the Cornish coast that surrounds you. 

Before heading out for the day, rustle up a tasty full English and settle down at the kitchen table to plan for the day ahead with your loved ones. Suitably nourished, stroll to the harbour and while away a few hours exploring the independent shops that line the waterfront. Further afield, you can reach The Lost Gardens of Heligan by car in fifteen minutes, or The Eden Project in around twenty. Inside, the house boasts modern and tasteful furnishings spread across seven spacious rooms. With its open dining room and large kitchen that leads to the garden terrace, "Enchanted Haven" is perfect for gatherings with loved ones. The upper floors offer comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, providing both coziness and privacy. Whether you're exploring the nearby attractions like Lost Gardens of Heligan or simply enjoying a peaceful stroll along the South West Coast Path, this unique hideaway promises relaxation and serenity for your holiday retreat.

The Whimsical Retreat

This award-winning Victorian Gothic-style cottage set on a former daffodil farm makes for the ultimate romantic escape. While we'd probably leave the kid with grandma this time, a sofa bed and cot are available should you wish to plan a cosy stay for three. It's a studio arrangement, yet a separate eat-in kitchen and private garden give you more options than your typical single-room setup. You'll find a hot tub, patio table and chairs outside, so in the warmer months, you can sit and enjoy the sunshine for hours. And with all there is to do around here, you may not make it inside until bedtime. You'll have use of the tennis court, orchard picnic area, basketball hoop, woodland, nature reserve and river beach. Your hosts can also hook you up with discounted tickets to the Lost Gardens of Heligan or organise remarkable experiences such as foraging workshops, paddleboarding, spa treatments or afternoon tea. Did we mention that some of Cornwalls most gorgeous beaches are just thirteen miles away? Back home, round off an explorative day curled up by the crackling fire with a good book and a glass of wine in hand. From the offset, this home charms with its peaceful surroundings. You'll find it tucked away in a tangle of cottages and dense foliage, a two-minute stroll from the historic harbour. Inside, stylishly adorned rooms flaunt floods of natural light, while the open-plan design allows the indoor and outdoor spaces to blend seamlessly. Spend mornings roosted in the courtyard garden, tucking into breakfast in the crisp, seaside air, before slipping out for a day at the beach - the secluded sands of Duporth and Porthpean are both less than a five-minute drive away. We loved this home’s wooden deck – with stunning sea views, a dining table, barbecue, two loungers and Adirondacks facing the ocean, it’s fully equipped for time well-spent outside. Factor in that you’re less than a ten-minute walk from the beach and you have a real winner. Meander down the South West Coast Path to laidback Sennen Cove with its stretch of golden sand and tropical-blue water. Here Cornish fishermen brush shoulders with tousle-haired surfers. We recommend renting a board and catching a wave – there are two highly-rated surf schools in the area. When you return home, hit the outdoor shower and set your wetsuits to dry in the warm utility room before heading inside, where you’ll find it’s just as lovely as its surroundings – smart and minimal with touches of nautical chic. We especially love the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living area. Kick back on the sofas and play a board game or puzzle all together. Then gather around the light wood table for a feast before retiring to the bedrooms for some restful sleep, knowing there’s another beautiful seaside morning waiting for you when you awake. 

Surf Style

Step into this achingly romantic wooden hut in St Kew, Cornwall, for a whirlwind getaway unlike any other. Decorated in an eclectic, bohemian style, you’ll want to fire up the stove and sink right into a pile of embroidered cushions with a mug of hot chocolate. You’ll also have your own private deck on which to drink tea with scones or enjoy hot Cornish pasties from the local bakery. The mezzanine bedroom area was made for sleeping to the sound of rain falling on the roof – just hope that it clears up quickly in the morning – or listening out for the call of a barn owl passing by. And the north Cornwall coast, with some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, is just a ten-minute drive away. Spend a day at charming Port Isaac, or hop on your bike to take on the Camel Trail – and don't forget to stop in at the country pub across the lane on your way home.

Nestled in the quaint village of Polgooth, just a couple of miles from the golden beaches and picturesque harbours of the south coast of Cornwall lies this pretty little ground-floor apartment. You'll have your own garden and a conservatory where you can sit out and enjoy the sunshine. Buy some catch-of-the-day from the fresh fish van on Saturday mornings and try cooking something new for dinner in the well-equipped kitchen, or sit out on one of the deck chairs in the garden with a cup of tea. In the evening, sit around the fire pit under the starry sky and share drinks after a long day.

If you're looking for a charming village hideaway, you've come to the perfect place. You'll find a well-stocked village shop and a traditional, dog-friendly pub just a short walk from your doorstep, where you can grab any necessities you might need for your stay as well as enjoy a pint with the locals. You'll also find yourself perfectly placed to reach a whole host of popular Cornish attractions and areas, including Mevagissey, Cornwall's second-largest fishing port, where you can take advantage of a range of wonderful independent shops and cafes. Elvan Hideaway

Perched just above the quaint fishing village of Mevagissey and the sparkling English Channel, this Edwardian home treats guests to gorgeous views of the landscape through the large bay windows — not to mention from the tables on the terraces.
