This Georgian home in South Devon’s Chillington sits on an acre of land and offers a quintessential rural retreat. Pull on the wellies provided by your host, help yourself to the apples growing in the orchard and cook up a crumble in the country-style kitchen. When it comes to tucking in, groups of more than ten will need to spread across two dining tables – perfect for adults and children looking to chat amongst themselves. Positioned overlooking Start Bay on the south coast of Devon, this home has been thoughtfully put together, making the most of its incredible views. Architect designed using a combination of steel, glass and stone, there's more than a hint of a Mediterranean feel to the place. The interiors are elegant and luxurious, with rooms spread across four floors and encompassing a self-contained studio apartment. With all eyes on the rolling hills and the seascape to the rear, the design features several balconies and terraces – all offering places to sit and take it all in. There's so much to love about this home, but some of our favourite features are the cinema room, the floor-to-ceiling views from the dining table and the choice of terraces outside where you can eat your meals together. By day you can explore the coastal paths and villages, or drive to Salcombe or Dartmouth in less than half an hour. If you're bringing your bucket and spade, you'll be pleased to know the beach at Slapton Sands is just a five-minute drive away.

For a wholesome getaway in sunny Devon, this cottage is just the ticket. In the heart of Slapton Ley, you have the coast on one side of the house, and a lake on the other. It's a nature lover's paradise. Enjoy taking your dog for a morning walk along the coastal path, less than a thirty-second walk away. Mornings spent here are peaceful and serene and by lunchtime, families will gather along the golden sands for a beautiful day by the sea. Take leisurely afternoon swims in the sea, before making the short walk home for a glass of wine in your garden. Going solely by the weathered stone exterior and the wooden beams underneath the vaulted ceiling inside, you could be forgiven for assuming that this home is a rustic getaway in the middle of the countryside. It's actually to be found right on the South West Coast Path, close to three miles of shingle beach. Once a coach house, the property has been given a contemporary makeover inside, with parquet wood flooring underfoot, a kitchen finished in a modern shade of grey and bathrooms with neat brick-style tiling. We're sure you'll find it a perfectly relaxing place to return to after a day of exploring the locale. Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve sits pretty much next door, while Blackpool Sands can be reached in ten minutes in the car.

With no local amenities to walk to, you'll need a car to get out and about. Though you're rarely a fifteen-minute drive from South Devon's sheltered coves and South Ham's water's edge is even closer. There's plenty to keep everyone busy within the cottage's vast communal grounds, too. Think shared indoor heated pool, tennis court, playground, communal lawns and alfresco terraces. The rooms are bright and breezy, the balcony has beautiful views across the estuary and we love the sweet extras like the Sonos sound system, Netflix and The White Company toiletries. Families should note that child-friendly amenities aren’t available here and that little ones will need to be supervised in the communal garden. Still, it’s a fantastic location with easy access to East Portlemouth's beaches, as well as hiking trails through the surrounding countryside – not to mention private parking for adventures further afield.

Bear in mind that due to the cottage’s location hikers and lighthouse visitors will be passing by, so there's not complete privacy here. And, on rare occasions, the fog alarm might sound but your host provides earplugs to counteract any potential noise.

You’ll be a short stroll from the nearby beaches, as well as Salcombe’s main attractions. Guests should also note the living room and kitchen are on the top floor with stair access, so this may not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.

This Georgian home is full of personal touches. Inside, you'll find two cosy lounges, a log burner, and traditional window seats ideal for curling up with a book. The wi-fi isn't the fastest, and the Jack-and-Jill bathrooms mean you'll have to share. But it's the garden that's the real stunner. Set across an acre of land, there's plenty of green space for pups and little ones. The table has alfresco meals written all over it, while the outdoor sofa is perfect for unwinding with a G&T. Croquet, an apple orchard, and even a selection of wellies are all available, too. Set in the south Devon countryside, you'll only be a short drive from pretty beaches and the seaside.

Tucked away in a secluded valley, yet with South Ham's water's edge and Devon's beaches a short drive away, the setting of this cottage is one of a kind. It's worth noting this elegant cottage only has a small private courtyard leading off the kitchen. This Grade II-listed fisherman's cottage showcases the best of Salcombe. The panoramas are incredible – whether you're waking up in the bedroom or enjoying a cup of tea on the south-facing terrace, you'll have a direct view of the boats bobbing in the estuary. Indoors, the 19th-century character complements the contemporary design, creating a calm, cosy place to unwind. There's a laundry room accessed via the alleyway, plus a handy wet room to rinse off sandy paws. As for the location, there's no comparison. You'll be perched along Victoria Quay's sea wall, only a short stroll from the high street and quayside.

Tucked away in a peaceful but central part of Salcombe, this home had our attention the second we caught those views. With a raised position and spread over three floors, the windows are perfect for watching the town’s iconic harbour. Downstairs, the large living space combines the dining room, kitchen, and living room, meaning guests can easily break off into smaller groups while still being together. Nearby, the adventurous can try crabbing along Victoria Quay or even have a go at paddle boarding. You’ll also want to take advantage of the free parking permit, ideal for exploring even more of Devon’s stunning coastline.

It’s also in a great location – the Salcombe-Kingsbridge Estuary and the sandy beaches of south Devon are within easy driving distance.

There’s no chance of forgetting where you are when you stay in The Bowline. The nautical theme runs through the entire apartment (and when you head out, the entire town of Salcombe), but with good reason. This part of south Devon has some of the most picturesque coast in the country, so it makes sense that the area emphasises that. The apartment itself is charming, with a real homely atmosphere. It’s not huge, but if you don’t try to pack it out, it’s plenty big enough, and Diana’s hosting is top-notch, which goes a very long way.

Situated in a private gated development, this penthouse apartment is all about the views. Easily accessible courtesy of the lift from the covered parking area, head on up to the third floor and you’ll find an open-plan, light-filled space waiting to welcome you home. The sea vistas are best enjoyed from the balcony over a glass of wine, but you’re spoilt with scenery from most parts of this home – fling open the bi-fold doors and take it all in. Better still, Salcombe's centre is just a short stroll away, so you'll never be too far from shops, eateries and the water.

Located in the coastal village of Marlborough, this home makes it easier than ever to relax. Out in the palm-filled garden, you can sit back in the hot tub before getting out and taking a perch next to the fire. Alternatively, the alfresco lounge on the terrace isn't a bad spot for a languorous evening over a bottle of wine.

Heading through the glass doors, you'll see the interior is just as geared towards laid-back living. Not only in the decor — heavy as it is with faux fur, house plants and neutral colours — but also in the numerous sumptuous spots where you can kick back.
