The interior is characterfully designed using reclaimed and antique materials, offering a revitalised version of seaside chic. The host is evidently a fan of up-cycling – look out for creative touches such as repurposed doors, stain-glass windows and rustic radiators. We especially love the wood-panelled walls and flooring that shape the space as a whole, while the comfortable furnishings, neutral tones and wood-burning stove keep things cosy. 

Here, as much attention has been paid to comfort as it has to style – drift off to sleep beneath Egyptian cotton bed linen or relax on leather sofas in the sitting room. But, don’t spend too much time inside as this home is close to an expansive sandy beach. Enjoy exclusive use of a private “No Through” sandy road, with access only to residents, and walk to the sand dunes in two minutes. End the day with early-evening sundowners on the front porch, sharing anecdotes and listening to the waves lapping in and out of the shore, before heading into the local village for a spot of traditional pub grub, five minutes away on foot.

As refined and attractive a home as you're likely to see, this single-storey apartment is a wing of a Grade II Gothic mansion. But what makes it truly unique is that it faces the ruins of an ancient Franciscan abbey that's of such historical importance it's been granted Scheduled Monument status. Set in the home's grounds, the abbey dates from 1285 and it's quite a sight to wake up to each morning.

Inside, the home is beautifully detailed, with character features like a meticulously restored original fireplace with log burner in the living room, Gothic plasterwork, ornate cornice to the high ceilings and stone mullion windows. Decorated in a classical country residence style, there's a Chesterfield to lounge upon, a vintage dining table and chairs, and an antique writing table. But it also boasts some tasteful modern touches, like the emperor-size bed with a cashmere and wool mattress and 800 thread count linen in the master bedroom, the stylish marble bathrooms, the cosy double bed and built-in bunkbed in the second bedroom. Comfortable and warm, it's a real home from home, with a well kitted-out kitchen (including a basket of local produce) and unbeatable views framed by tall windows.

In honour of such a humble appearance – we've named this home after the episode in which it features, titled "Cri de Coeur". Surrounded by 720-acres of National Trust farmland, the property boasts a location amidst breathtaking natural beauty that stretches as far as the eye can see. There's even a 30-acre family-run vineyard owned that guests have the opportunity to discover on a wine tour and tasting organised by the hosts. Make the most of the on-site wine tasting lounge – it's the perfect place to socialise after a day out in the country air. 

As well as communal access to the winery, you'll have private access to an entire wing of the home as well as a private piece of the garden – separate from any other guests. Stone paths pave the way inside to the cosy main living space with a traditional aesthetic throughout. While there isn't a kitchen as such in the wing, the living area includes a fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle and some dining essentials so that you can enjoy simple meals around the table. After country walks through the sheep fields or to Winchelsea Beach (fifty minutes away on foot) – make returning and snuggling up in front of the log burner fire a cosy ritual that you'll crave long after your stay. From the bedroom windows, take in the best views in the house, as the vistas sweep across the rolling hills and out to sea. For more things to do, head to the nature reserve and pebble beach at Rye Harbour, drive to the famous dunes of nearby Camber Sands or take part in one of Winchelsea's 'cellar tours' looking at the ancient undercrofts of the town's oldest buildings. A delightfully quaint bolthole set in the beautiful Kent countryside, this home's modern black facade is complemented by a rustic and quirky interior. Outside, you'll find an alfresco dining area – the perfect spot to tuck into the cake host Georgina leaves for you – and a cosy lounge area surrounding an open-air fire pit, which is ideal for enjoying a moment of calm while watching the sunset. You may even spot the resident kingfisher as it flies from the pond. When you're ready for sleep, drift off in the plush beds in the country-style bedrooms, then wake up feeling well-rested and ready to explore Kent. You're perfectly located for adventures – make the twenty-minute drive to the coastal Dungeness National Nature Reserve or reward yourself after a stroll with a pint in one of the delicious pubs nearby.

Set amongst green fields that offer sweeping countryside views, the home offers the ideal setting for a memorable group getaway in Kent. The main barn is perfect for gathering around in the large living and dining area for some downtime whether it be cosying up by the fire for a movie night or breaking out a board game for some friendly competition. For even more fun, there’s also a communal games room with table tennis and table football as well as two hot tubs so there won’t be any need to take turns. Positioned directly on Dungeness's public beach, this former foghorn testing station has been fully renovated into a unique getaway for two. The nearby lighthouse's foghorn still works, although we much prefer the idea of waking up to the sound of the waves and seagulls. The sea is literally on your doorstep, and huge glass doors and a small terrace maximise the idyllic views. It's more of a studio than a one-bed, but we like the single-level layout. Although phone signal is patchy here and there's no proper TV, there is wi-fi for remote working and streaming. That said, the Bose speaker system, wood burner and teak bathtub are all you need to truly unwind. 

The Fog Signalling Building 

This striking holiday home was a pump station built during WWII to support the D-Day landings. Its conversion into a beach-side hideaway was so impressive that it was featured on George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations, and it’s easy to see why. Concrete walls are softened by stone grey tones, warm wood, and luxurious furnishings in this stunning home. This is a cosy, comfortable abode with underfloor heating and a log fire. Five floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the surrounding nature reserve – you’ll be perfectly positioned on the Dungeness Estate, on a shingle beach 3 miles into the English Channel.

Your host, Caroline, has created a cosy, clever and modern delight of a home with a mix of rustic and mid-century furnishings. Two comfy armchairs are positioned in front of the sliding doors, so you can keep one eye on the television and the other on the wildlife busying itself in the immaculate garden. Tuck into breakfast in your private courtyard before taking a stroll past the pond and golden barley fields to the paddock, where Caroline’s Soay sheep are kept. Set out on a yomp along country lanes, stopping at gastro pubs along the way. And when it’s time to get some rest, we guarantee you’ll be out like a light as soon as your head hits the pillow of your cloud-soft bed.

Leave your stresses and troubles far behind as you arrive at the foot of this charming coastal bolthole. Handily nestled little more than a stone's throw from the nearest pebbled beach, this place welcomes you to sample life by the sea in style – and we can't wait for you to see it for yourself.

From the outset, we are greeted by a soothing cream–washed facade and pretty porchway decorated with cascading flora and fauna – and as we venture beyond the brown front door, we can't help but feel instantly at home.

Decor wise, it's contemporary but cosy right through. A medley of neutrals and brights illuminate each and every room and the snuggly soft furnishings add to the homey appeal of the place. There's a lot to love here, but our favourite feature has to be the kitchen. Freshly renovated and leading directly onto the open–plan dining area, head here first thing in the morning and whip up a frothy coffee and get set to fuel up for the day ahead.

For those visiting during the warmer months, the sprawling garden with its sweeping patio and verdant lawn presents the perfect spot to soak up the rays. There's also a fully–furnished open–air dining set–up for all your al fresco feasts and the added bonus of a makeshift bar in the back corner.

Pitching up in the garden and staying put will certainly feel tempting at times, but with all that stunning scenery right at your fingertips, you'd have to be mad not to explore it.

Two individual apartments in the guest wing of this stunning period building, these elegant homes can be rented together by larger groups or two families looking to escape to the Sussex coast together. In a spectacular setting, they're part of a Grade II Listed mansion that dates from 1819 and face the ivy-clad ruins of a 13th Century abbey. Definitely a place for lovers of historical architecture, it also happens to be within half an hour's walk of Winchelsea's quiet beach and the beautiful nature reserve of Rye Harbour. 

With one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor, each apartment has two bedrooms, along with cosy living rooms, modern kitchens and dining spaces. Fully updated but retaining charming period details like the fireplaces, ornate cornice and stone mullion windows, they're both beautifully put together with great attention to detail. We love the upstairs apartment's long balcony, where double doors open it up to the living room and both bedrooms, and we're big fans of the super stylish bathrooms.

There's a real surprise outside, with private, fenced gardens for both homes, outdoor furniture and barbecues. And best of all each comes with its own log-fired hot tub – perfect for a long soak after a day playing on the beach.

Nearby you can walk the ancient streets of Rye, packed with shops and great places to eat, play golf or walk your dog on the beaches. Even the famous dunes of Camber Sands are within easy reach. Or stay closer to home, tour the neighbouring vineyard, walk to the local farm shop and book yourselves on a 'cellar tour' of this town's medieval undercrofts. 


The Two Friars

Situated on the southernmost point of Kent, this coastal cottage is an excellent choice for nature lovers – Dungeness Beach and Dungeness Bird Observatory are right on your doorstep. Lap up the atmosphere of the Old Town from the private balcony with a glass of wine in hand. It's the perfect place for people watching as you'll be surrounded by plenty of bars, restaurants and independent shops. All this – plus the beach and the seafront are just a three-minute stroll away – you can smell the sea air from the balcony. Inside the apartment, contemporary interiors present a comfortable space with an open plan living and dining area which invites in natural light all day long. Providing an idyllic spot for a solo traveller or a couple visiting Hastings, you'll enjoy the convenience of this home the most. Serve up a home-cooked meal at the dining area or head to the beach for some fish and chips by the sea. Enjoy wandering the historic streets by day and drinking in the local bars by night. With so much at your fingertips here, you'll get to experience the best of Hastings from this well-positioned pad.

This clifftop cottage in the Hastings Country Park lived a former life as one of the original coastguard terraced cottages. Tucked away at the foot of a country lane, this cottage sits cosy on the coastline. Its views go on for miles, with sighs of Dover, Beachy Head and even France from the top floor (with good weather!). Staying here is about nights around one of the two fireplaces, and relaxing with a book and glass of wine in the conservatory or in the bath. Exploration is on your doorstep in the surroundings of the Hastings Country Park, where ponies frolic and the wilderness goes on for miles. Further afield, central Hastings is a fifteen-minute drive for those nights when you just need to hang your apron and go out for dinner.

We could tell this exquisite home, in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, is owned by an interior photographer – it's picture-perfect. We love the attention to detail that has gone into this place. It's been designed with entertainment in mind – relax in the hot tub in the secluded south-facing garden with a glass of Sussex fizz, dine under the shade of the vine-covered pergola or sunbathe on the loungers. Play croquet on the extensive lawn or simply spot the wildlife – if you're lucky, you may see rabbits, badgers and the occasional deer. 

Inside, there are even more options to keep your family or friends occupied. Listen to some music on the Bluetooth sound system, channel your inner Mozart at the electric piano or bang out some rhythms on the drum kit. If music isn't your thing, watch a movie in the cinema room or play some table tennis. After all that activity, unwind by the open fire if it's chilly, read a book on the Barcelona-style chair or have a soak in one of the freestanding baths. 

With so much to do here, you may not find the time to explore, but if you do, you'll be rewarded with magnificent beaches and charming towns. Hastings, with its bars, cafes and music scene, is just over fifteen minutes by car, while it's the same distance to Rye. Camber Sands is Twenty-five minutes, while Great Dixter House and Gardens, built by architect Edwin Lutyens, is a ten-minute drive.


Ready for a Close-Up	

With beautiful country views and a peaceful setting on the owners’ sheep farm, this perfectly petite home is the ideal base for exploring the Kentish Weald. You’re a ten-minute drive from the well-heeled town of Tenterden with its independent boutiques and tearooms as well as many National Trust properties. The beautiful gardens at Great Dixter, just 11 mins away, or the famous Pashley Manor make for a fabulous day out or head just up the road to the pretty weather-boarded village of Rolvenden for the weekly farmers’ market or a pub lunch. The cottage itself is a cute red-brick bolthole where sheep and donkeys graze in the fields out front. Admire the surrounding farmland from the rocking chair on the wooden deck, or watch the kids run free on the lawn. Inside, it’s a cheerful medley of white, teal and magenta and kitsch flowery curtains add a bit of character. Throw open the French doors to let the country air stream in, and perhaps curl up with one of the books from the mini-library to the sounds of sheep in the fields.
