This beautiful beachfront home is located in the popular seaside resort town of St Leonards in East Sussex. It’s close to sites of historical importance like Bodiam Castle and the ruins of Battle Abbey, but you may find yourselves entirely content to stay put – the beach is directly in front of the house, after all. When you’re not paddling or eating fish and chips on the beach, you’ll have a private hot tub to relax in on the terrace. This former boutique hotel is perfect for large groups, with eight en-suite bedrooms and plenty of space for gathering together. 

Beachfront Splendour

Set on a farm in West Sussex, this charming cottage is the perfect couple’s retreat or solo getaway. The interiors are bright and fun, with pops of block colour punctuating each room. Downstairs there’s a cosy living area with a wood burning stove, which you can put a log on and curl up in front of a film in the evening. The modern kitchen is well stocked for cooking up homely meals, or on warm days fire up the barbecue and enjoy lunch alfresco at the wooden table outside. Look out the kitchen window and you might spot Nellie and Maggie, the shaggy Shetland ponies whose paddock is twenty feet away. Feel free to give them a carrot or two! 

The cottage is on a farm run by your hosts. You are surrounded by the great outdoors here, and you’ll have direct access to footpaths and bridleways which take you through the farm and out into the picturesque countryside beyond. As you walk out, stop by the Stud house, where you can say hello to the native ponies in their stable. The village of Billingshurst is a four-minute drive away, where you’ll find a supermarket and some local country pubs. Pay a visit to the Nyetimber vineyard, a fourteen-minute drive away, and pick up some of their excellent sparkling wine. After a day of exploring, there’s nothing better than enjoying a glass of bubbly back at home as the sun sets over the fields. 

Stud Cottage

Although this three-storey home was only built in recent years, much of the interior design takes inspiration from retro trends. Many of the furnishings are mid-century in style and there are 1970s flourishes peppered about in the form of overhanging metallic lamps and swirly feature walls in the living rooms. That being said, the pristine white kitchen is as modern as they come, as are the bathrooms. Outside, guests get the benefit of not one, but two terraces, with space to cook, eat and relax. The location gives plenty of options for excursions in the great outdoors, too. It's possible to get on a footpath running alongside the River Adur in less than a minute on foot which is a great base for kayaking and paddleboarding, and leads to a 37-mile long track through the South Downs National Park. Shoreham Beach is a mere ten-minute walk via the high street which boasts an abundance of pubs, restaurants and shops, and the Brighton seaside only takes twenty-three minutes to reach in the car.

Chalkhill Blue

What's not to love about this quirky cottage? Bright and modern, we love how inviting the space feels, with cushy sofas you want to sink into, a sunny deck for alfresco cocktails in the sun and a lime green kitchen fit for rustling up coastal-inspired cuisine. All the furniture here is handmade using reclaimed materials, including a bed made from sea-breakers. And there are plenty more beachy bits and bobs scattered about – from the retro seaside posters in the living room and the beach hut-inspired wardrobes to the buoy mirror in the bathroom. Speaking of, the lush roll-top bath is a dream after a long coastal walk – all that's missing is a bath bomb, a glass of wine and a good book. 

With Normans Bay beach just metres away, chances are you'll spend most of your time by the water or walking along the pebbled shores. The only pub in town is a fifteen-minute walk, but Eastbourne, Pevensey and Bexhill aren't far – the farthest a twenty-minute drive – if you'd like to explore more of the Sussex Coast. But we think there's a sleepy charm to Normans Bay that makes it perfect for families wanting a more laid-back getaway.

The Crabbing Shack

Looking for a British seaside stay? This might just be the ticket. Located just fifty yards from Camber Sands beach, this coastal home is perfect for beach-loving groups and families. Roll out of bed and enjoy a coffee in the private garden before walking the few steps to the beach. You can spend all day there, or you can hop in the car and visit coastal towns like Rye and Dungeness. In the evening, share a home-cooked meal in the large dining area, or pop back to the beach for some good old fish and chips.

Shell House

This home provides a delightful base for exploring East Sussex. You'll find it nestled between Eastbourne town centre and the breathtaking Beachy Head coastline, tucked away in Meads Village. This sought-after location is famed for its historic architecture and community feel. Here, you'll find wide tree-lined streets, elegant nineteenth-century residences a picturesque central square boasting a quaint cluster of shops, cafes, pubs and eateries. It's also a convenient gateway to the South Downs National Park, plus the sea is just an eight-minute walk away.

From the offset, this home impresses with its charming red-brick facade. Inside, it's all hardwood floors and stylish decor, cloaked in a calming colour palette of blues and greens. Spend mornings brewing coffee in the galley-style kitchen before tucking into breakfast in the light-flooded dining conservatory. In the summer, soak up the sun and sea breeze from the patio garden. After days spent exploring Eastbourne, with its theatres, art galleries and sandy beach, or perhaps lacing up your hiking boots for a stroll through the South Downs, the cosy lounge is the perfect place to unwind. Gather here on the plush sofas and relax in the warm glow of the fireplace.

Seaside Serendipity

If you like the idea of a romantic weekend that includes long walks on the beach and such like, this apartment in Saint Leonards-on-sea will be just the ticket.

Being up on the third floor, there are marvellous views of the beach from both the living room and kitchen. Inside, the styling feels cool and contemporary, thanks in no small part to the exposed brickwork, array of house plants and the vintage map on the wall.

As well as the seaside barely two minutes' walk from the front door, the local area is full of quirky attractions, including bars, boutiques and seafood restaurants. Hastings Castle can be reached in just under twenty-five minutes' walk and the High Weald AONB is a quarter of an hour away in the car, too.





Warrior Spirit

Driving up to this home, you’ll no doubt feel as though you’re entering your own version of Downton Abbey or Bridgerton – and once you step inside, it only gets grander. Wooden panel walls, classic fireplaces, beautiful chandeliers, and four poster beds add to the stately comfort of this quintessentially English manor house. Spend the morning nursing a cup of tea with breakfast, before retiring to one of the many rooms to find the most comfortable sofa – of which there are many – so you can spend a few hours getting lost in a Jane Austen novel. Afterwards walk the beautifully manicured grounds, and if you happen to reenact some of the scenes from Pride & Prejudice, we promise not to tell.  

Family trips can be spent puzzling together, or getting all hands on deck in the kitchen to prepare a feast fit for lords and ladies, whilst luxury hen and stag parties might choose to celebrate a different way. Regardless of why you came, once you experience the peaceful reprieve the manor has to offer, you won't want to leave. 

Surrey Hills Manor

We could tell this exquisite home, in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, is owned by an interior photographer – it's picture-perfect. We love the attention to detail that has gone into this place. It's been designed with entertainment in mind – relax in the hot tub in the secluded south-facing garden with a glass of Sussex fizz, dine under the shade of the vine-covered pergola or sunbathe on the loungers. Play croquet on the extensive lawn or simply spot the wildlife – if you're lucky, you may see rabbits, badgers and the occasional deer. 

Inside, there are even more options to keep your family or friends occupied. Listen to some music on the Bluetooth sound system, channel your inner Mozart at the electric piano or bang out some rhythms on the drum kit. If music isn't your thing, watch a movie in the cinema room or play some table tennis. After all that activity, unwind by the open fire if it's chilly, read a book on the Barcelona-style chair or have a soak in one of the freestanding baths. 

With so much to do here, you may not find the time to explore, but if you do, you'll be rewarded with magnificent beaches and charming towns. Hastings, with its bars, cafes and music scene, is just over fifteen minutes by car, while it's the same distance to Rye. Camber Sands is Twenty-five minutes, while Great Dixter House and Gardens, built by architect Edwin Lutyens, is a ten-minute drive.


Ready for a Close-Up	

Overlooking the beautiful Pevensey Bay Beach – this fabulous home makes for the perfect family seaside getaway. Dine alfresco or relax with a glass of Sussex wine in the swing seat as you take in the sublime views of the beach and sea. Inside, those vistas are just as good from the living space.

This home has been designed for comfort with its faux fur throws and soft velvet sofas. We love the sumptuous master suite with its botanical wallpaper and chiffon drapes over the four-poster bed. We can imagine opening the shutters and doors in the morning and listening to the sound of the waves – pure heaven.

After breakfast, walk from the end of your garden (under 40 yards) onto Pevensey Bay Beach and do some beachcombing. Or take some classes with the local sailing club. Pevensey Bay is known as William of Normandy's landing place in 1066 – take a six-minute drive to historical Pevensey Castle or explore the village, just four minutes in the car (a thirty-minute stroll). Further afield, Eastbourne, with its 19th-century pier and Towner Art Gallery, is under a twenty-minute ride.



Pevensey Bay Beaut

This delightful coastal home is nestled in Norman’s Bay, between the historic towns of Bexhill and Pevensey. From here, you can effortlessly visit Eastbourne, Camber Sands, and Rye – when you can tear yourselves away from the beach on your doorstep, that is. The house was once a charming cafe and boutique hotel, restored into a beautiful beachfront home ideal for two families travelling together. Enjoy sweeping sea views, lounge on the furnished front terrace, and gather around the fire pit in the garden. You'll fall in love with this home.

Whether you’re sipping something refreshing in the lakeside garden or heading out to explore nearby walking trails and heritage sites, this is an easy-going base for a peaceful countryside break.
