Stop by the local village shop, for fresh bread only a four-minute stroll away and be sure to enjoy a nightcap at The King's Head Pub – a five-minute walk away. Restored to high quality, the cottage itself is a humble breath of fresh air, that feels completely private despite its close proximity to the host's main house. Cosy interiors create a warm and welcoming space to snuggle up in after a day of taking in the country air. Sip a cup of tea in front of the log burner fire – oh and there's underfloor heating too, so you needn't worry about getting cold toes here. Outside you'll have your own private decking area with picturesque views over the garden. It's a haven of wildlife during the spring and summer months – if you're lucky you might even get to see the pheasant that often frequents this space. Get the barbecue going when it's warm out and spend the evening stargazing up at the twinkling sky (since there are no street lights here – it's an incredible sight). If you're staying for a few days you might want to venture out to discover more of historic Lincoln – check out the city's castle and cathedral, only a forty-minute drive away. Not to mention the miles of unspoilt coastline that is easily in reach if you head further east.

This unique home was a bakery in the 1950s but it was converted by the host's parents, who both worked at the Lincoln School of Art. As well as being a day job, they also had a strong interest in artistic endeavours and they filled the interior with hand-crafted ceramics, fabrics and paintings. Today, much of their collection remains and it lends the feel of part-museum, part-period home — especially with the hardwood floors and wood-burning fireplace. The large garden is equally special too, with a pond full of frogs and plenty of lawn space on which to lie back with a book borrowed from the packed shelves in the dining room. When you fancy exploring your surroundings, the city of Lincoln is thirteen minutes away in the car, while the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty can be reached in just over twenty. Closer to home, there's a pub two minutes' walk around the corner.

Then, explore everything that Beverley has to offer, from Saturday markets to antique centres, from its thriving music scene to competitive escape room fun. What’s more, the medieval skyline remains unspoilt, so why not stop at a cafe and enjoy the view?

Plus, Beverley Westwood is roughly a two-minute drive away from this home where you can enjoy leisurely walks, a round of golf or even watch some horse racing at the racecourse. 

In the evening, return to this home which combines period features with the modern lifestyle. Sit back and relax as you enjoy a cinema experience in the living room or curl up in front of the log-burning fire and enjoy a good back. A dash of magic has been liberally sprinkled over the traditional interior of this charming cottage and we’re big fans. The living room is cosy as you like, with a squashy pair of teal chesterfield sofas, an open fire and gilt-framed pictures. Upstairs, the bedrooms have a sumptuous boutique feel (we loved the luscious leafy look in one of them) and rural views that invite total relaxation. The unique dining nook is adorned with sheepskins, a chandelier made of antlers and characterful wallpaper depicting country scenes, making it a space fit for a (smallish) party of lords and ladies. The setting is rather lovely too, in a pretty Lincolnshire hamlet, with open countryside all around. Outside there’s a beautiful garden with a pergola and dining areas for those dusky summer evenings. Nearby Harlaxton, a five-minute drive away, is ideal for stocking up on basic supplies, as well as providing a slice of history with Harlaxton Manor. Drive a little further to take a stroll down Grantham Canal for gorgeous waterside views or explore the pale limestone streets of Stamford. Depending on the season, evenings are either about a glass of something cold in the garden, or a warming red in front of the fire – whichever way, it’s a delight.

The village has built its reputation on local businesses, quality, and uniqueness – and it's all within easy reach of the Norfolk Coast's sandy beaches. Such a great village deserves an appropriately unique stay, which is where this home comes in. The stone exterior gives the whole place a country feel, but the contemporary, velvety interior guarantees a comfortable stay. It's well-suited to families, and your host has made sure to make it feel as welcoming as possible. Each room is filled with light, especially the open-plan, dual-aspect kitchen and living area. That said, our favourite spot to unwind is the private garden. With a pizza oven, heated pavilion, and views of Westgate Orchard, it's the definition of an idyllic escape.

The interiors span over 4500 square feet, meaning there is plenty of space for everyone. There are eight bedrooms, each with an en-suite, set across two floors. In the living area, the floor to ceiling windows pay homage to the breathtaking views of rolling green Yorkshire countryside. The farmhouse style kitchen is fully stocked with high spec appliances, and has a clever marble island that doubles up as a breakfast bar. Come evening, gather together at the banqueting table, with seats for sixteen. Brick slips and original wooden roof beams lend the space a modern yet rustic feel, while the marble and stone clad bathrooms add a touch of decadence. 

Outside, there is a hot tub with room for eight – the perfect place to enjoy a glass of champagne while the sun sets over the hills.
