Dating back to 1715, this Grade 2 listed ale house in the North Norfolk town of Holt is a delightful escape. Recently refurbished, the owners have taken great care to restore the original wooden beams, brickwork and fireplaces. We love the bedrooms, all named after teas. After a busy day, there’s nothing better than relaxing in front of the wood burner with some fish and chips from across the road. And of course, pour yourself a pint. You're in a former pub after all.

Surrounded by bustling bars, cafés and shops, you'll have plenty to do in the area. Spend the day strolling through the village – we recommend browsing the local art galleries or having a spot of afternoon tea at one of the many tearooms (there's a charming one right next door). If you're longing for sea and sand, drive fifteen minutes and you'll reach Sheringham Beach and the Norfolk Coast. 


Ale House Dreams

As cosy and quaint as you'd expect a cottage to be, this Victorian one in the heart of Blakeney is brimming with charm. Everything from the farmhouse-style kitchen to the wood-burning stove adds a rustic homeliness that might not be to everyone's taste but adds to the comfort here. Norfolk Coast explorers will find Salhouse Beach an eleven-minute drive away, a nice segue to discovering dotted gems further up and down the coastline. And it wouldn't be right for a traditional brick and flint house to not be within walking distance of a quintessentially British pub, which you can find alongside other shops. Though there's no parking available, a car is advisable to make the most of your stay.

Contemporary luxuries and sublime views across the marshes to the sea from inside, coupled with lovely grounds outside, make this a dream place to share with your family or a group of friends. Come morning, make yourself a drink, leisurely take in the stylish interiors, and open the kitchen's French doors onto the gorgeous patio. The outdoor spaces are a feature of the home. The top area is fully enclosed with mature planting and features a stone terrace on two levels. Then there’s a gate to the lower garden with gentle sloping lawned area, and best of all there’s a small path between the two gardens that leads down to the Norfolk Coastal Path for the use of local residents.

Once you can bear to tear yourself away from this home, explore your town base of Blakeney and its harbour, marshes, and sweeping pretty landscapes. Keen walkers will love the North Norfolk Coastal path to Morston, a combination of sea breeze and stunning views. The Norfolk coast has so much countryside to see – drive for twenty-five minutes and discover historic Holkham, which has award-winning beaches, a deer park, and a fruit farm where you can pick your own berries.

Tucked away in a select group of Grade II listed buildings, this home may be historic but it's modern and stylish inside. Built back in 1835, this cottage in the Norfolk town of Holt is approaching its 200th birthday, although you wouldn't be able to tell from the contemporary interior. The soothing palette of muted greys and chic furnishings are completely in keeping with the 21st century rather than the 19th, save for an eclectic collection of curios and mementoes on the shelves.

Arguably the home's best feature is a modern addition – the conservatory is blessed with natural light and is a lovely place to enjoy dinner regardless of the season. It also gives you a view of the back garden, which has another table plus a charcoal barbecue ready and waiting for summer evening feasts.

One thing that hasn't changed in the years since the house has been standing is  the quality of the location. The interiors are uncomplicated and modern, making it quick and easy to settle in. Spend your days on the sofa catching up on your favourite shows, type away at the dedicated workspace, or challenge someone to a game of football on the open-plan mezzanine. It looks over the dining table downstairs, so you'll be able to smell when supper is ready.

This yellow cottage dates back to the 1850s, so if you're looking for traditional charm with contemporary twists, this is the place for you. Our favourite spot is the light-filled conservatory, which is the perfect spot to indulge in afternoon tea or a glass of wine under the curved roof.

In the living room, cosy is an understatement – plush sofas beckon you to curl up with a good book beneath the wooden beams, while the wood burner and collection of board games are the very things for chillier nights at home. Come dinnertime, make your way to the kitchen and cook up a storm on the Aga stove, preparing a range of mouth-watering fare to share in the dining room. Better yet, dine alfresco in the sun-kissed garden as the day slowly fades and feel the salt-tinged air on your skin.

 Brinton is a small hamlet tucked away from the more lively spots on the Norfolk Coast. But that doesn't mean it's boring – you'll find excellent walking footpaths and cycling routes along the lanes, as well as an award-winning pub in Hunworth a short drive away. Holt is close by, too – ideal if you're after cafes, art galleries, boutique shops and fantastic restaurants. If it's the sea you crave, head to Wells-next-the-Sea or Holkham – both about a half-hour away by car.

You’ll find this modern cedar-clad lodge in the heart of Holt, a historic Georgian town in rural Norfolk. Those 19th-century farmers knew what they were doing when they built these two divine cottages tucked away in the sleepy Norfolk village of Wighton. Now joined together and exquisitely reimagined into a luxurious seaside haven just an eleven-minute drive from the beach, this place has got charm by the trough load.

Inside, while the old 1800s bones remain (those exposed oak beams are everything), there's nothing twee about its interiors. Every inch of the home feels like an interior magazine come to life with heirloom-worthy antiques, vibrant textiles, and curated artwork bringing layers of interest and style.

Sunny mornings call for lazy coffees on the garden terrace as kids and furry friends run about on the lawns. But if the weather doesn't buck up, that breakfast room with French doors overlooking the garden is just as inviting, with the Aga keeping things toasty.

This charming cottage will be a hit with those who love being out and about in the fresh coastal air. Sure, the home is on the small side and the narrow staircase means it won’t suit those with restricted mobility. That said, with a host of restaurants, shops, the quayside and the coastal path on your doorstep, exploring the local area and spending time in the great outdoors is a must. For cycling enthusiasts, bring your bike along to explore the coastal trails – there’s lockable storage here.

Step inside this glorious country pile and former Victorian rectory nestled in the wide-open spaces of the Norfolk landscape. The manor's interiors feel bright and revitalising with large windows and high ceilings. 

There are plenty of communal areas for family and friends to gather, including the colourful library, cosy TV room and playful piano room. The rustic kitchen is fully equipped with modern comforts and everything you'll need to cook up a delicious meal - which can either be served at the kitchen table or in the more formal setting of the dining room, with its magnificent drapes and an exquisite mahogany table. The manor includes six comfortable bedrooms, each equipped with plush bedding and delightfully classic furnishings. 

Stepping outside, you'll find gorgeous grounds that include a tennis court and rolling fields as well as a barbecue area. Located just a moment's drive from the coast, you can spend a day at Sheringham beach catching some waves or discovering the delightful nearby pubs, shops and cafes. Elsewhere, explore historic National Trust properties, travel back in time onboard a steam train and catch a performance at the Little Theatre.

Set within an exquisite Grade II-listed house, this palatial apartment blends country elegance with modern style. We loved the floor-to-ceiling windows, which flood the open-place space with natural light. With ground floor access to the beautiful shared garden, you can walk straight out to enjoy a tranquil morning sat around the terrace coffee table, or spend an afternoon having a picnic on the green. Located within walking distance to nearby shops and pubs, you’ll be able to explore the charming village of Binham.  Everything is steeped in history around here, but the early-twelfth-century Benedictine priory is a must-see. Luckily, it's so close you can spot it from the bedroom windows.

Warham Abbey

You can just tell by looking at this small home perched above the Sheringham coastlinethat there's an interesting backstory. And there is – it was once a Victorian toilet block until it fell out of use and was brought by the owner as a gift for his wife. Today, you'll find a truly unique home that brings you as close to the beach as you can get.

The first thing that will command your attention is the uninterrupted views of the North Sea, which you can admire from the floor-to-ceiling glass doors or with the wind on your face as you stand on the balcony. Despite the humble size of the home, the design doesn't feel cramped in the slightest, especially the horse-shoe-shaped kitchen that is more than big enough to cook up some hearty home-cooked fare. The only drawback is a lack of a dining table, but the balcony furniture can be used to seat all four inside.

As a glance out the windows will show you, Sheringham's beach can be reached in a matter of moments and you can continue wandering along the promenade into the town centre. Turning away from the sea, there are plenty of rural attractions to discover in surrounding Norfolk, including Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate only fifteen minutes' drive away.

Boasting a privileged position at the heart of Wells-next-the-Sea, this picturesque home overlooking the town’s quay is a treat for all seasons. With the North Norfolk coast on your doorstep and a plethora of fun treats waiting to be enjoyed at home, there’s no end to the adventures in store. 

No stone has been left unturned in the careful curation of this home, with its welcoming open-plan living area beckoning board games by the fireside and the sun room offering a slice of relaxation whatever the weather. Open the doors here to step out into the large private garden – the perfect spot for family picnics and lawn games – or head out to the front of the home where you’ll find a raised seating area with picture-perfect views of the boats coming in and out of quay. 

Our favourite spot, however, has to be the main bedroom’s terrace. Accessed via a hatched window, you’ve got uninterrupted views of the water that you can enjoy over morning coffees as the sun dazzles over the stunning scenery, or with a nightcap as the stars twinkle above you. 

When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, you’ll find plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes just minutes away, including along the quayside (a two-minute walk) which has a plethora of ice cream shops and arcades. You’re also a twenty-five-minute walk from the beach, while Holkham Hall and Holkham National Nature Reserve are both just a couple of miles away.

Situated in the quaint village of Bodham, this 1890s house is within a few miles of the North Norfolk Coast and just a mile from the local pub. Ideal for families, the home boasts a large, lawned garden, complete with a shaded seating area and a picnic table for alfresco dining. After a leisurely breakfast overlooking the garden, why not jump in the car to explore the surrounding area? With the Georgian town of Holt, the traditional seaside town of Sheringham, and a choice of sandy and pebbly beaches nearby, there’s plenty to discover.
