You can't get more central – or more charming for that matter – than Norwich Lanes. Steeped in history, this area is brimming with independent shops, delicious restaurants, and buzzing bars – and you'll find it all just moments from this apartment. Inside, a cosy living area invites you to kick back after a spot of sightseeing. The kitchen boasts a breakfast nook and all the essentials for cooking, and there's even a roof terrace for barbecues and sundowners. Granted, in this vibrant spot, noise is likely, but we think that it's worth it to be a stone's throw from all the attractions. 

The Lanes Lookout

You'll find this imposing home set within a 300-acre historic parkland at the centre of a North Norfolk private estate. The former home of the head gardener, this Georgian building boasts its own walled garden and numerous character features – not least its beautiful arched windows. A simple, elegant cottage that's been modernised without losing its charm, it's now perfect for a special break in the countryside.

Along with a games room with all sorts of fun activities for all the family, there's a large lawn and an outdoor dining terrace, plus a little modern luxury in the form of a hot tub. Elsewhere, a comfortable living room, cosy library and sociable eat-in kitchen provide plenty of living space for a family or a small group of friends, and pretty bedrooms and bathrooms offer a tranquil retreat. Spend your time walking in the wider parkland, head to the nearby Broads or drive to the coast in less than half an hour.  

Estate Cottage

Dating back as far as the 1470s, when Sir James Hobart (a confidante of Henry VII) built a family estate, this Grade I listed home is one of the most spectacular places we’ve ever seen. Step into history oozing with the finest luxury afforded to the home's guests. It's truly perfect for family gatherings, breaks away with friends, weddings, and more, thanks to the ample amount of space. On top of the main hall, there’s also the gatehouse and the garden rooms, as well as a separate barn for hosting events (upon request), and of course, the six-acre grounds. The history of this home has been preserved immaculately, while at the same time, modern comforts are around every corner. Either as a gateway to the Broads, or as a destination in itself, you can’t go wrong.

The facilities available at the hall are second to none, with no need or whim uncatered for, including perfectly equipped kitchens, games room, library, a wealth of entertainment, cosy open fires and woodburners, lawns and meadows, and even a moat, and should you wish to prize yourself away from this phenomenal home and head on out to explore, the bustling seaside town of Great Yarmouth is just a twenty-seven-minute drive away, while the Norwich city centre can be reached in twenty-two minutes by car, and is perfect for those shopping needs. We highly recommend trying out the cosy pubs around the area for a good pint and perfect company.

The Hobart Spring Estate

This lovely home is perfect for those who don't want to leave their dogs behind when going away on holiday. The property is expertly crafted to accommodate pooches so they can also have a wonderfully comfortable stay. There's plenty of space within the house as you wander through, admiring the beamed ceilings and rustic wooden features throughout. Snuggle up together in the living space, including the dog of course, to watch a movie on the TV as you sip on a toasty cup of coffee. You've got a choice of where you'd like to tuck into meals too, whether you opt for an al fresco lunch in the courtyard, a hearty homecooked plate at the indoor dining table, or a light bite while sitting at the breakfast bar.

The outdoor space is a fantastic spot to enjoy a picnic with your loved ones on the grass or on the picnic bench, as your loveable dogs run around and play. In fact, you may even spot a range of wildlife during your stay here as red deer and hares have been seen amongst the rural surroundings.

Not only is the house great for dogs, but the surrounding area too. With relaxing walks along the Weavers Way as you traverse through verdant trees and bushes – a beautiful getaway from the hustle and bustle of busy daily life. A short drive takes you to the market town of Stalham where you can treat yourself to a delicious portion of fish and chips. Sea Palling Beach is a fifteen–minute drive away from the house for a day out by the ocean – your dogs will love running up and down the sand here. 

Daydream For Dogs

Situated in Wroxham, within the Norfolk Broads, this cottage offers a great escape for families and friends. The garden and patio are perfect for enjoying the sun and fresh air. The garden room also has table football to keep everyone entertained. Inside, the living room’s woodburning stove takes centre stage – it’s a cosy space in the autumn and winter months. When you want to explore, you can hire a boat and travel the tranquil waterways or on dry land, browse Wroxham’s shops. A short drive away, there’s also the cathedral city of Norwich, with its historic landmarks.

Norfolk Boats 

While the tiny villages of Norfolk offer postcard-ready, rural scenes that you would expect, this home has quite the opposite of a rustic aesthetic. A two-minute stroll from the nearest pub in Banningham, or an eighteen-minute drive to coastal delights like the pier of Cromer, you can still enjoy traditional activities – but in a rather modern setting.

The exterior presents a cottage-like feel with red bricks and chunky timber supports propping up a slate roof. And that’s where the rustic feel ends. Step inside to beautifully 21st-century interiors, where the apex ceiling and bright white walls create an impressive sense of space and zen.

Kick off your walking boots and sink into the plush sofa while you look through the generous welcome hamper from your host. Whether you fancy a cup of tea, or wine is more your tipple, anything will go well with fresh bread and homemade cake. And you don’t need to prepare lunch either (although it’s a delight to cook in the sleek kitchen or on the barbecue), as your host can arrange for a private chef to make your meals in-house. We recommend dining alfresco in the lush, secluded garden – listen to birds sing while you savour every last bite on the sunny patio.

The Firecrest

With a sprawling garden, tree house and a games room that kids will approve of, this Norwich cottage is a solid option for family holidays. Outdoor seating, a hot tub and a barbecue round out the wrap-around garden. Perfect for spending sunny days outside. The house itself is cosy and comfortable, with more than enough space even with up to five guests sleeping on sofa beds in the living areas. As for your locations, this cottage is tucked away in the 'Capital of The Broads', close to the Broads National Park. Norwich is a short drive away, and a few beaches dotted along the coast lies within driving distance. 

Thatched Haven

A delightful hodgepodge of 18th-century character and contemporary style, this Grade II-listed townhouse is an absolute gem. Built in the 1750s, the red-brick home has kept much of its Georgian charm with huge sash windows and high ceilings, while bright pops of colour, a sleek kitchen and glittering gold accents move the interiors firmly into the modern age. You'll feel right at home here, whether you're watching Netflix on the sumptuous sofa or reading a book in the window seat. The open-plan layout is great for socialising, super stylish, and only adds to the sense of space – and the swanky kitchen is an absolute dream to cook in. During the summer months, soak up the sunshine on the small south-facing patio, where you can plop down on the wicker chairs with a cup of tea or an evening glass of wine.

Location-wise, you're in an excellent position to explore Norwich's cobbled lanes. Renowned pubs, delicious restaurants, cosy cafes and local shops are just a short walk away. For a day trip, head to the seaside – you can catch a train from Norwich Station (fifteen minutes on foot) to Great Yarmouth or Lowestoft and be at the beach in under an hour.

Debutante

There are too many good things about The Hobart Spring to list, but suffice to say that it’s every bit as good as it looks. Most of the buildings date to the 1470s, when Sir James Hobart (later attorney general to the king) built his family home. Our favourite room (not an easy decision) is the kitchen, which looks beautifully traditional, but alongside the Aga, has an electric oven, gas hob, espresso machine and more. You can also pick herbs from the raised beds in the back. Either as a gateway to the Broads, or as a destination in itself, you can’t go wrong.

The Hobart Spring

Tucked away in a peaceful courtyard yet right in the heart of Norwich, this Grade II* Georgian home is a rare beauty. It’s scattered with features that remind us of its 18th-century, like original sash windows and exposed oak beams, while a homely warmth makes it endlessly inviting. There’s plenty of space to unwind, from the open-plan living area to the cosy dining room with a Sonos sound system. Our favourite spot? The private balcony, perfect for your morning coffee. With the Theatre Royal, Norwich Market and the cathedral just minutes away, you’ll have the best of the city on your doorstep.

Georgian Retreat

Nestled in the cosmopolitan heart of Norwich, referred to by some as the "Notting Hill" of the area, this bright apartment boasts plenty of charm. Set over two floors and filled with interesting touches, this is a city pad with personality. 

We love this home’s quirky vibe, owed in no small part to its bold use of colour. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the lounge area, with its eye-catching Chesterfield sofa and ottoman, both promising a cosy snug. The living area is split-level with the kitchen raised up above the sitting room, a stage for cooks to perform their culinary theatrics. Luxury in the bedrooms is a little more understated, a soft palette ushering you into a gentle night's sleep under the skylights. 

Open your front door and you're in the heart of an area with a lively mix of restaurants, cafes and bars, plus numerous green spaces dotted about. You get the magic of the city centre, located just a fifteen-minute walk away, without too much of its hustle and bustle, and with all of the comforts at your disposal, there’s everything you’ll need here for a truly relaxing stay. 


Market Aubergine

A restorative family-home with stylish interiors in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Located just a seven-minute walk from the charming riverbank village of Horning, you'll have easy access to all of the local inns, restaurants, small shops and tea rooms. Back inside, it's a modern, beautifully decorated house with all of the mod-cons needed for larger groups to enjoy a comfortable stay. The colourful, light-filled living room benefits from bi-folding patio doors that extend out to a crowd-pleasing garden that boasts a spa-style hot tub, bar area and outdoor seating, so you can spend lazy evenings dipping in-and-out of the jacuzzi, sipping drinks and swapping stories. On chillier nights, chum up and challenge your friends and family to a round of pool or foosball in the games room. Or break open a bottle of wine in the sleek, chef's kitchen and plate up the catch of the day – there's plenty of fishing opportunities nearby, so be sure to bring your rods. In fact, the best way to discover this achingly quaint holiday destination is by hopping on one of the daily boat trips that take you all the way down the river and are readily available from in the village.
