Let's not beat around the bush – what caught our eye here is the excellent location. On Whitby's West side, this home puts you a five-minute walk from the beach. Shops, pubs, and eateries are also on your doorstep – or, head over the swing bridge to the historic East bank and wander the cobbled lanes. The apartment is contemporary and bright, though it does lack some personality. Still, it's a good option for friend groups and families. There's a sleek kitchen, a modern living area, and a trio of comfortable bedrooms.

Whitby Sanctuary

This converted chapel school sits in the beautiful rolling hills of the North York Moors and behind the well-preserved exterior lies a truly unique home. Large arched windows let in copious amounts of natural light, which is emphasised by the high ceiling and walls finished in a cleansing shade of white. An abundance of velvet textures and the slick kitchen surfaces feel particularly en vogue, too. Out in the large and enclosed garden, there's a picturesque terrace for those warm summer nights when you want to dine alfresco and a view of the countryside that stretches to the sea. Guests really are spoilt for choice when it comes to planning an itinerary. Sandsend Beach is three minutes' drive away, while getting to the centre of Whitby takes just under ten. There are countless walks to embark on in the surrounding Moors, too.

The Chapel of Dunsley

Overlooking Whitby's town centre, this cottage is a wonderful home steeped in history. It's a Grade I-listed building dating back to the eighteenth century when it was used as a coach house, and today the home retains its old-world character while still offering plenty of modern luxuries. Sleeping up to ten guests, an extended family or a group of friends looking to escape to the coast will find it impossible not to fall in love with this unique space. The ruins of Whitby Abbey, famously the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula, are just three minutes away from your front door, as is Whitby's very own brewery where you can sample some locally-brewed craft beer. A twenty-minute walk will bring you through the charming town to the beach, where you can paddle on sunny days or take a bracing walk in the colder months. And, with a lovely garden to return home to, make sure you don't forget to organise cocktail hour – the grassy lawn is the perfect spot to enjoy a cool drink as the sun goes down.

The Coachman

From fish and chip shops and the beach to its Captain Cook connections, Whitby is one of the best-known seaside towns in the UK — and with good reason. This apartment in a new complex is set slightly back from the harbour (away from the busiest areas), but you can still reach the very centre in under ten minutes on foot. And as it’s on the top floor of the building, the views are spectacular. From the balcony, you can see across the rooftops to the ruined abbey on the hill, famously part of the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. As is often the case with penthouse homes, the elevation also means that's there's lots of natural light too. The white walls and reflective surfaces work to emphasise this asset, which floods in through the skylight as well. Add to that a minimalist kitchen and a modern bathroom finished in particularly sleek grey tiling, and you have an apartment that is equally as covetable as the location.

Feeling Chipper

It may have literary associations with a certain Count Dracula, but you won't find any vampires roaming the streets of Whitby. Instead, it's a charming and memorable seaside town with more than a few fans who return year after year. And a stay in this smart home is bound to be unforgettable, with a great location and a few luxury touches. Set over three floors, and with a striking modern interior, it's perfect for a large family or a group of friends. On the first floor there's a super stylish open-plan kitchen and living space, made for socialising over breakfast or lingering in over drinks in the evening, with a more cosy sitting room on the ground floor. The bedrooms are all of a good size, but it's the master that impresses us the most thanks to its free-standing bath tub in the corner of the room. Stroll into the town to explore its boutiques and eateries, play on the beach, climb the steps up to the abbey ruins and, whatever you do, don't miss out on some of the world's best fish and chips. Here it's all right on your doorstep.

Bumblebee Jasper

In the heart of Whitby, this minimalist flat is all about clean lines, contemporary conveniences and crisp Scandinavian style. It's bright, light and totally sleek, with extras like a wine fridge and rainfall shower transforming it into a lovely little place to call home. Grab a book and snuggle up on the chair in the window – on a clear day, you can see across the rooftops towards the iconic Whitby Abbey. Feel like cooking? The kitchen has enough crockery to rustle up a meal, which you can share alongside a bottle of bubbly around the breakfast bar. But what makes this apartment really shine is the fantastic location. You're just a few steps away from Flowergate, surrounded by a flurry of chic bars, delicious restaurants, local shops and historic pubs. West Cliff Beach and the charming seafront is just a five-minute walk away, so days spent lounging in the sun and splashing in the waves are a given. Add in the proximity to Whitby's other hotspots – be it the Church of Saint Mary, whale-watching boat tours, museums and the Cleveland Way – and this pocket-sized pad is a perfect fit for a couple on a seaside getaway.

Brevity & Wit

The seaside town of Whitby offers every English, coastal delight that you’d expect. Takeaway spots for fish and chips, ice cream parlours, piers, and lighthouses are just some of its charming features. While you explore every corner of this ancient town, you’ll need a cosy place to call home. This apartment, just a twelve-minute walk from Whitby Beach, is perfectly placed to experience it all. Elegant and modern, the interiors feel very inviting. Parquet floors and a rich blue velvet sofa bring a high-end luxe vibe, while glass tables and a superbly 21st-century white fireplace offer sophisticated minimalism. We love the bright living space, with French doors leading out to your own private patio. Perch on the ornate wrought-iron furniture with a gin and tonic to start the holiday in style. Nine minutes away, you can stroll to Whitby train station (a Grade II listed building) with ease. From here, the north of England is yours to explore. Try a two-hour trip through the North York Moors National Park to reach the market town of Darlington, for shopping, dining, and even more historical landmarks.

Shepherd's Night

This bright apartment is blessed with a superb location right in the heart of charming Whitby. Within a ten-minute walk, you could be sinking your feet into a white-sand beach, ascending the 199 Steps for sweeping views, exploring the ruins of Whitby Abbey or feasting on fish and chips down by the harbour. The town is also a gateway for scenic hikes in North Yorkshire’s unspoilt moors, dales and forests. All of this diversion will suit couples and families looking for a cosy place to escape city life. So curl up on the sofa with a good book – Bram Stoker’s Dracula, perhaps, which is closely associated with the town. If it’s warm, open up the patio doors for a breath of fresh sea air and uncork a bottle of wine to add a carefree flair to your cooking. The kitchen is smart and well equipped, though if you don’t fancy playing chef, Whitby’s pubs and seafood restaurants are just a stone's throw away.

Fish & Ships

Craving some much needed time by the sea? This address in the heart of Whitby may just be the answer to all of your problems. Reset, relax and rejuvenate on the Yorkshire coast with this upside-down house as your idyllic base. Located just a twelve-minute stroll away from the beach, fish and chips by the sea has quite simply never seemed tastier. And if it's not weather permitting, serve up your feast in the blissful comfort of your open living room and dining area – where contemporary designs and plush furnishings offer a comfortable and soothing setting throughout. We love the consistent styling in pretty shades of pink and emerald green that bring the Scandi style interiors to life. Outside you'll have your very own private patio and decking area – perfect for catching some vitamin D on bright sunny afternoons. The quirky layout of this home is sure to keep the kids amused as this "upside-down house" has its bedrooms downstairs while the main living area is upstairs. And if that doesn't do it, a trip out to Whitby Abbey (a six-minute drive away) most definitely will – as it was here where Bram Stroker drew inspiration for his gothic novel 'Dracula'.

The Whitby Way

Lovingly designed by Styled Interior Design, this beautiful seafront apartment boasts a perfect, central location off North Terrace, making it the ideal place to explore the seaside town of Whitby.
With coastal views spanning West Cliff, this home is clean and contemporary right though, with a soft neutral colour palette warmed up with shades of navy and ochre. The thick, snuggly carpet is in–keeping with the home's plush appeal, meanwhile the luxury bedlinen in all three bedrooms promises to keep you comfortable and snug after a busy day exploring the Yorkshire coast.
Beautifully curated wall art give this place character and the textured soft furnishings help create an authentic home–from–home feel. The interior really is spectacular, but if we had to pick just one feature we're head–over–heels in love with, it would have to be the living room telescope. A unique addition that welcomes guests to admire the breathtaking seascape, this fabulous piece is one that the whole family will adore.
In terms of getting around and exploring your surroundings, you couldn't be in a better spot. Pretty much everything is within walking distance, meaning there's no need to get the car out – you can just pull your shoes on and tour Whitby by foot. The promenade is just a short stroll from the apartment and a bunch of fun arcades and fresh fish restaurants can be found on Pier Road.
