Ocean Breeze Cottage

In the heart of Whitby, this minimalist flat is all about clean lines, contemporary conveniences and crisp Scandinavian style. It's bright, light and totally sleek, with extras like a wine fridge and rainfall shower transforming it into a lovely little place to call home. Grab a book and snuggle up on the chair in the window – on a clear day, you can see across the rooftops towards the iconic Whitby Abbey. Feel like cooking? The kitchen has enough crockery to rustle up a meal, which you can share alongside a bottle of bubbly around the breakfast bar. But what makes this apartment really shine is the fantastic location. You're just a few steps away from Flowergate, surrounded by a flurry of chic bars, delicious restaurants, local shops and historic pubs. West Cliff Beach and the charming seafront is just a five-minute walk away, so days spent lounging in the sun and splashing in the waves are a given. Add in the proximity to Whitby's other hotspots – be it the Church of Saint Mary, whale-watching boat tours, museums and the Cleveland Way – and this pocket-sized pad is a perfect fit for a couple on a seaside getaway.

Sitting just across from Whitby beach on the scenic West Cliff, this beautifully bright apartment puts the sea on your doorstep and offers a wonderfully comfortable base to call home. 
 
Light pours into the open-plan living room from the stunning bay window giving way to sea views. Make yourself comfortable on the sofa and chairs with a warming mug of tea while you take in the dazzling vistas or gather around the chic dining table for a celebratory meal framed by the views. 
 
The comfortable bedroom beckons a peaceful night’s sleep in its snuggly bed, and there’s a vanity desk here too should you need to catch up on work.

When it comes to sightseeing, make your way to the beach (a two-minute walk) for afternoons of fun in the sun, or stroll over to the West Pier – six minutes away – where you can have a go at the arcades and sample the local seafood restaurants serving up the catch of the day. You’re also just a thirteen-minute walk from the 199 Steps that lead up to the Church of Saint Mary, while Whitby Abbey – the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ – is seventeen minutes away on foot.


Seaview Sparkle

You’d be forgiven for mistaking this bright apartment in the heart of Whitby for a Malibu beach bungalow. With its laid-back minimalist aesthetic, rattan ornaments, neutral palette, light wood floors and white panelling, there’s an unmistakable coastal vibe to this comfortable, modern home. The living room’s large sectional sofa is perfectly placed to gaze out over Whitby’s rooftops from the trio of windows, while the bedrooms upstairs – tucked beneath the building’s eaves – boast vistas of hilltop St Mary’s Church from their charming skylights. When you’re not soaking up the beach vibes at home, go out and sink your toes in the sand at Whitby Beach, a seven-minute walk away. You’re also just a five-minute walk from the town’s famous 199 Steps, while countless shops and fish and chips restaurants wait to be discovered right outside your door. 


Shake Off The Sand

This cosy house is perfect for family breaks to the seaside. It stands on the edge of East Cliff, just a ten-minute walk from Whitby’s town centre and its narrow medieval streets lined with pubs, shops and comfy cafes. You can walk easily to the west side of town, where you’ll find the Blue Flag West Cliff Beach and its brightly coloured beach huts. Add in the wonderful Whitby Abbey and its rich history, and you’ll never be short of things to see and do here. 

The house itself is warm and welcoming, with heaps of space. It’s an excellent choice for a big group of friends or a couple of families travelling together, as there’s plenty of room for everyone. We love the balcony that opens out from the living room – it boasts gorgeous views of Whitby and its harbour, and is the perfect spot for a morning cuppa. Later on in the day, you might pick up takeaway fish and chips to unwrap on one of the picnic tables on the terrace. It’s a lovely way to round off a day at the seaside. 


Boats in the Harbour

Lovingly designed by Styled Interior Design, this beautiful seafront apartment boasts a perfect, central location off North Terrace, making it the ideal place to explore the seaside town of Whitby. 
With coastal views spanning West Cliff, this home is clean and contemporary right though, with a soft neutral colour palette warmed up with shades of navy and ochre. The thick, snuggly carpet is in–keeping with the home's plush appeal, meanwhile the luxury bedlinen in all three bedrooms promises to keep you comfortable and snug after a busy day exploring the Yorkshire coast.
Beautifully curated wall art give this place character and the textured soft furnishings help create an authentic home–from–home feel. The interior really is spectacular, but if we had to pick just one feature we're head–over–heels in love with, it would have to be the living room telescope. A unique addition that welcomes guests to admire the breathtaking seascape, this fabulous piece is one that the whole family will adore.
In terms of getting around and exploring your surroundings, you couldn't be in a better spot. Pretty much everything is within walking distance, meaning there's no need to get the car out – you can just pull your shoes on and tour Whitby by foot. The promenade is just a short stroll from the apartment and a bunch of fun arcades and fresh fish restaurants can be found on Pier Road.

West Cliff Telescope

This brand-new home can be found on the outskirts of the characterful seaside resort of Whitby. Outside of the hustle and bustle in a quiet residential neighbourhood, with views of fields to the rear, it’s the best of both worlds. The perfect base for a family break, the interior is tastefully decorated with lots of pale oak, mid-century influenced shapes, and pops of vibrant colour. Outside there’s a town garden with a sunny patio for those morning coffees, and a glass-fronted balcony off the master bedroom that looks out over the countryside. Take the 5-minute drive into town for arcades and fish and chips or cross the bridge to the medieval streets of the East Bank and Whitby Abbey. If you’ve brought the dog, strap on the hiking boots and get out into the North York Moors National Park. It’s called ‘God’s Own Country’ for a reason. 

Sunburst Blue

In the centre of Whitby, this apartment puts a Blue Flag beach and narrow, medieval alleyways within easy walking distance. It’s a five-minute jaunt to the sprawling sands of Whitby Beach and you can even take the lift down the cliffs. A five-minute dander in the other direction sees you at the riverfront, where award-winning fish and chips await.

After a day exploring the gothic history of Whitby, return to a haven of calm at this apartment. The neutral-toned decor provides a soothing spot to unwind in the living room where a wood-burning stove keeps things cosy. Herringbone floor runs throughout the ground floor, and the kitchen in sleek dove grey has everything you need for self-catering. Retire to the bedroom with a big bay window and awake naturally to sunlight streaming in. 

The Salt Collector

With the centre of Whitby on your doorstep – this stylish apartment is a great find. If you love history, head to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, a six-minute stroll. It's the same walking distance to Whitby Beach, while the ruined Whitby Abbey, which inspired Bram Stoker's gothic novel 'Dracula', is under fifteen minutes on foot. You'll find an abundance of pubs, restaurants and cafes on your doorstep too. Or, further afield, explore Dalby Forest, located on the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park, just over a thirty-minute drive from this home.

After all that sightseeing, relax on the comfy sofa in the bay window and read a book or unwind with a coffee. A range of plants and contemporary art prints give this place a homely feel – we certainly felt at home when we visited. We love the use of colour here, from the forest green kitchen to the sunny yellow, midcentury-style armchair. This place is the perfect Yorkshire retreat for a couple looking to have easy access to all of Whitby's delights.

The cottage itself is classically charming, with a sage kitchen, wooden dining table and fireplace. Fall asleep under exposed wooden beams and wake up to views that stretch over the orange roofs and all the way to the sea. There's also a sleek kitchen ideal for rustling up lighter bites, a glossy bathroom and a sumptuous bedroom that will leave you feeling well-rested and ready to explore.

The enviable locale makes exploring a breeze. Spend the afternoon dipping in and out of the independent shops, old-world pubs and delicious eateries in the city centre, or head down to the waterfront pier and Blue Flag beach for a taste of the seaside. You also can't miss the famous ruins of Whitby Abbey or the 199 Steps – the views from the top of the hill are hard to beat.
