With exposed beams, original flagstone flooring and a reassuringly solid oak dining table, your host has ensured not to lose that quaint cottage feel by bringing everything into the twenty-first century. After kicking your boots off in the utility room, the cosy sitting room with its inviting fireplace and antique furniture makes for a lovely spot to warm up after bracing winter walks. Like any kitchen with an Aga, its warmth attracts people like moths to a flame and you'll soon be moving people out of your way as you look for a clear space to chop, while they chat. The upstairs bedrooms offer endless views over the stunning cottage garden and rolling fields towards the Thames. The children's room comes equipped with lots of books, while there's another small single for gran or grandad. Head out with the children and follow the footpaths leading from the cottage gate down to the lock and watch the riverboats or head to Tadpole Bridge for a well-deserved pint at the Trout.

Oh and you'll be wowed by the spectacular sun room all the same. You’ll also be able to drive to Oxford to visit the museums as well as being only 30 minutes from Cheltenham to enjoy the races.

It still feels like a traditional home, with its flagstones, mullioned windows and fantastic fireplace, but with all the modern amenities you need. Only a 5-minute drive to the year-round Cotswold Wildlife Park, there’s also a critically-acclaimed gastropub less than 100m away. With a mature southwest-facing walled garden, patio, barbecue for warmer months, snuggle up by the fire, relax in the hot tub, or pack your wellies for scenic walks direct from the front door when it's cooler. With plenty to do nearby, Dunford Barn is a great year-round base for families and adults to explore the best of the Cotswolds.

With a split-level garden, you can relax on the terrace or follow the secret walkway to the manicured lawns – perfect for those bringing their four-legged friends along for the adventure.

With endless countryside views and a wonderful location, this home makes the ideal setting for a refreshing rural escape. It’s a short drive into the market town of Witney, while the close proximity to the Cotswolds means easy access to beautiful hiking and cycle trails. Private parking is available and you’ll have access to a peaceful garden with outdoor seating and hammocks. Inside, the sitting room lends itself perfectly to cosy evenings by the fire. There is also a snug on the first-floor which doubles up as a bedroom thanks to the sofa bed.

Set along the lane which inspired L.S Lowery in his Burford Church painting, this cottage is tucked away from visitors and is one of just four on the road which remains part of Burford Boarding School. A peaceful spot, the cottage is just a minute’s walk from the medieval bridge crossing the River Windrush and all the town’s shops, pubs and restaurants. 

With its distinctive honey-coloured Cotswold stone facade, and an Art Deco panel in the front door – the home a nod's not only to the town's extensive history but also to its link to the Art and Crafts Movement. Upon entering the home you'll be warmly welcomed by a typically English countryside retreat revealing an open plan layout featuring a cosy kitchen, dining area and living area with a wood-burning stove. 

At the back of the cottage, you'll find a hidden garden with a patio, small lawn with a garden bench, planted borders as well as a cute little summer house – perfect for sitting with a book amidst the peace and quiet. The east-west orientation of the garden means it has sunshine on it – weather permitting – throughout the day and on into the evening, making it an idyllic spot for a morning coffee through to evening drinks.

When you're ready to explore the local area, stretch your legs with a blissful country walk around the Cotswolds. Try a five-mile walk out of Burford to Great and Little Barrington along the Windrush Valley and back again, or there's always the option of the two-hour circular walk taking in Fulbrook and Woodford on your way. Burford garden centre is only a mile away and you'll conveniently find the nearest pub (The Highway Inn) just 300 metres away. 

When you arrive home, you needn't worry about traipsing mud through the cottage as there is a handy boot room with a sink, hooks to hang coats, plenty of space to keep boots and shoes.

Escape to the country in this charming cottage. It’s tucked away just a five-minute walk from the centre of Burford and its cafes and pubs, yet feels a million miles away. It’s in a quiet and secluded spot that offers views of the millstream, a leafy garden, and the neighbouring woodland. This cosy home is a studio apartment so the bed is in the living and dining area, but it doesn’t feel cramped – and there’s a balcony to spread out on. We think this is a perfect choice for a romantic weekend away.

This storied stone cottage, stood among the atmospheric open fields of Old Minster Lovell, is the quintessential Cotswolds residence. Good sized and well equipped, it can accommodate three bedrooms, a farmhouse kitchen, a wood burning stove, a roll top bath, and a beautiful misty garden. Such a home does come with some watchouts – guests over six feet may struggle with the lower ceilings, while the steps up to the first floor are slightly precarious. But with so much charm, idyllic greenery all around, and excellent day trips for families and friends in close proximity, you'll find so much to love in these old stone walls.

With honeyed stone walls and a Grade II listed status, this bronze South West Award-winning traditional stone cottage is quintessentially Cotswolds. The exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces showcase the building’s considerable heritage (it dates back to 1670), but you’ll find plenty of modern comforts here, as well as cosy styling that favours neutral tones and natural textures. We love that it’s a home for all seasons — stride out on blustery walks in the winter months, before coming back to underfloor heating, a wood burner and thick goose down duvets. In the summer, the British countryside is arguably at its best and here you get access to a large birdsong-filled garden with plenty of shady spots for a gin and tonic. Stargazers are in luck here as there are no streetlights in the local village of Southrop and the Milky Way shines extra bright. And of course, what would a country getaway be without a nearby pub? The Swan can be reached in about three minutes' walk, although the Victoria Inn takes half an hour in case you fancy earning your pint.
