Save for the sections of exposed stonework, you wouldn't be able to guess this home's true age. We're pretty sure that you won't find many cottages cuter than this. Built at the backend of the eighteenth century, this traditional weaver's house is Grade-II listed and you can see why. Inside, the wooden ceiling beams, exposed brickwork and stable door are full of rustic charm, while a log-burning fire and antique furnishings add an extra level of cosiness. To the side of the home, there's a patio area complete with alfresco seating where you can enjoy a coffee and the surrounding tranquillity of West Yorkshire. Fans of Last of the Summer Wine — one of the longest-running sitcoms in the world — will love walking around the local town of Holmfirth where it was filmed. After looking around this home, you probably wouldn't guess that the property has been standing for more than a quarter of a millennium, but that's a testament to the care and attention that has gone into the renovation.

Aside from the odd exposed stone wall and the original fireplace, the interior is as contemporary as they come, but great importance is placed on cosiness, too. Underfloor heating and a wood-burner will get you warmed up once again after bracing country walks, while the huge kitchen has plenty of space for whipping up hearty feasts. If the weather's playing ball, you can even eat outside, which will give you an opportunity to admire the bucolic scenery.

As well as this private patio and barbecue, there's a shared fire pit on the grounds around which to gather once darkness falls. Guests also get access to a shared games room, which has tables for ping-pong and pool, board games and toys, as well as a small shop selling meat from the surrounding farm and locally produced artisanal products.

Sitting deep within the Peak District, you're certainly not short of walking routes in the local area, plus a couple of historic attractions — Magpie Mine is only a ten-minute walk, for instance. Located on the southeastern edge of the gorgeous Peak District National Park, this stunning ten-bed Georgian mansion is secluded away within an acre of immaculately presented private gardens. With terraced lawns, cute courtyard spaces and a Big Green Egg barbecue, the ornate outdoor areas are perfectly set up for alfresco dining. In fact, the gardens are noteworthy enough to have had an entire episode of BBC's Gardener's World devoted to them.

The home packs in plenty of charm from the moment you enter its grand entrance hall, with eye-catching colourful tiles, an imposing fireplace and elegant antiques. It's a similar story throughout the rest of the ground floor, with the addition of wood panelling in the reading room, large bay windows overlooking the garden in the drawing room, and plenty of light and space beneath the beautiful vaulted ceiling in the kitchen. Here, a large pine table sits up to ten adults or fourteen with children – perfect for large gatherings of friends and family.

Upstairs houses the six bedrooms, each with its own unique atmosphere and no less lovely than the last. With a four-poster bed, freestanding tubs in the en-suites and double aspect windows overlooking the luscious gardens, the only dilemma will be which of the three en-suite double bedrooms or two twins to choose. Finally, there's a bunk room that can accommodate four children. 

The ever-popular Peak District, England's oldest national park, is right on your doorstep. There are plenty of picturesque towns and villages to visit, plus rugged, windswept scenery to hike through or simply admire from a fireside armchair in one of its charming pubs. Those with a head for heights might like to try their hand at rock climbing or hot air ballooning, while cycling and hiking are on offer for those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground. Found in the centre of town, a thirteen-minute walk from Lincoln's iconic Cathedral, this large family home has been restored with comfort and style in mind. Especially so, given the size of the two lounges. Add the dining area into the equation, and you can see how there's plenty of room for everyone to carve out their own space. Two pull-out beds and two single sofa beds keep sleeping arrangements flexible, although these are best for children as they're on the smaller side.
