Restaurants, cafes and bars are on the doorstep, and you’re no more than a fifteen-minute walk from Princess Street and the Royal Mile. The sash windows let in plenty of natural light, and the kitchen has everything you need for rustling up a full Scottish breakfast. Just so you’re aware, the third bedroom is on the smaller side, so it may be better suited for children.


New to Town

At the foot of the iconic Royal Mile, six minutes from Holyrood Park, you can live like royalty in this palatial penthouse. After a private airport transfer right to your front door, kindly arranged by your host, arrive in style on this historic Old Town street. The bright red building stands out against the original stonework of neighbouring architecture. Right at the top, your flat is the jewel in the crown. Boasting views of the rocky facade of Salisbury Crags, you might find it hard to tear yourself away from the windows, but the interiors are also quite something. We love the industrial-style decor, with minimalist hanging lamps, metal chairs, and thick, black framed windows. The bathrooms also run with this theme, with framed doors on the rainfall showers (much more pleasant than the famous Edinburgh drizzle) and each with their own funky tiled colour scheme. For a contrast to these modern interiors, head outside and take the one-mile trek to the top of Arthur’s Seat. This extinct volcano has panoramic views at the summit – don’t forget to place a stone on a cairn at the top, as per Scottish tradition.

Located on a typically quaint street in Edinburgh's New Town, this apartment is in a great location, only a short walk away from the sights of Old Town, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and a huge range of cafes and shops to explore in the local area. The interior of this home feels homely and relaxed, sporting an earthy colour palette and high-quality soft furnishings. Tall corniced ceilings, wood floors and an abundance of light coming in through the sash windows create an instantly welcoming feel with chic, contemporary furnishings inviting you to make yourself at home. We love the living room’s large suede sofas that beckon relaxing evenings over a glass of wine by the period working fireplace, and the large kitchen bathed in natural light that’s ready to cater celebratory feasts aplenty. The three bedrooms, meanwhile, have each been carefully curated with a sophisticated touch and boast similarly large windows that give way to New Town views. We’re particularly fond of the main bedroom’s en-suite – a spa-like space with its rainfall shower and tempting tub, the latter providing the perfect end to a night with a glass of bubbly. 
With ample entertainment options, plenty of children’s equipment on hand, as well as a lavish amount of space in which to socialise or spend some quiet time alone, this is an ideal base for those looking to make the most out of their city stay.

The Royal Mile stretches from the hilly city centre, right down to the even larger hills of the Crags and Arthur’s Seat (Edinburgh’s very own extinct volcano). And just six minutes from the edge of this ancient parkland, this modern home is a rather delightful contrast. The interiors are very industrial, but you’ll still find little touches of luxury. We love the lighting fixtures in the lounge and bedrooms, a web of black cords and hanging bulbs which cast a soft glow. Matching this are black metal frames on the door, shower, and bed, as well as dining chairs in the living space. Overall, this flat has a warehouse vibe which feels minimalist yet cosy, ideal for coming home to after witnessing a city steeped in history. Wander uphill after your morning coffee and stop in for some brunch on the High Street, just seven minutes away. Keep on heading to the top of this iconic mile to reach Edinburgh Castle. At just a thirteen-minute walk from home, your descent should include a stop at a traditional pub for a dram of whisky or a pint.
