When you're not indulging in good food and drink, the city's historical sights, including Edinburgh Castle and Scottish National Portrait Gallery, can be found only a twelve-minute walk away. 

Heritage Red Velvet 

Housed in an elegant grey-stone building in Edinburgh New Town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – this bright studio apartment puts you in a prime position to explore the best of the Scottish capital’s sights.

Then, set off for a day of exploring – Calton Hill, Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street and the Palace of Holyroodhouse are all within easy walking distance. You’re also right across the street from The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, while plenty of restaurants, shops and bars wait to be discovered right on your doorstep. Then there's the wealth of shopping opportunities, artisanal cafes, lively bars, traditional pubs, and an impressive array of world-class restaurants.

After a day of exploration, return to the warm embrace of this bold, unique apartment, where you can unwind in the inviting living area and watch the world go by along Castle street below, cook up tasty treats in the kitchen, or get ready to head back out for a taste of the vibrant local nightlife. Either way, we know how we'd round off our day – with a glass of Scottish whiskey and a toast to this wonderful city.

Contemporary Castle Street

With the look of a stylish speakeasy, this cute red-hued studio won our hearts. We love the features here, such as the shuttered sash windows, the floral wallpaper and the chic prints and mirrors. Pour a glass of wine and relax on the plush armchairs. Or have a rest on the comfy bed in the bedroom with its navy wood panelling before heading out to explore in the late afternoon.

The location is fantastic. George Street and Princes Street are a one-minute walk, so that's shopping covered. For culture lovers, the Scottish National Gallery and Scottish Gallery of Modern Art are an eight-minute saunter, while the National Portrait Gallery and the Museum on the Mound are both an eleven-minute stroll. The iconic Edinburgh Castle, St Giles' Cathedral, St James Quarter and the Old Town are all a fifteen-minute or less walk from your door as well. There's an array of eateries and bars nearby too, so this place is the ideal bolthole for a couple, solo traveller or business person looking to be in the heart of the city's action. 


Little Red Corvette

It's quite fitting that this elegant studio apartment with its beautiful painted mural is close to the Scottish National Gallery and Scottish Gallery of Modern Art (both are an eight-minute stroll away). There's more culture to be had at the National Portrait Gallery and the Museum on the Mound, eleven minutes on foot. Edinburgh Castle, St James Quarter, the Scott Monument, and St Giles' Cathedral are all within a fifteen-minute or less wander too. Edinburgh International Conference Centre, on the other hand, is just a three-minute walk, and the University of Edinburgh, the Old Town and the Royal Mile are all under a twenty-five-minute amble, while there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby for refreshments.

After a busy day of sightseeing, take a seat on one of the comfy chairs and admire the artwork with a wee dram. Or get some rest in the bedroom with its dramatic dark navy-hued wood panelling. We love the character features in this apartment, such as the high ceilings, cornices, sash windows and shutters. After you've put your feet up for a while, get ready in the bathroom with its terrazzo-effect tiling and head to bed or if you're anything like us, sample the restaurants and bars – well, they're close by, and it would be rude not to.



Painting Box

The fact that you can see Edinburgh Castle out of the window of this apartment gives you an idea of just how good the location is. However, this prime spot in the New Town isn't the only thing we like about the home.

Granted, it's what is sometimes euphemistically referred to as 'compact' with a kitchenette that's only really suitable for modest meals, but that's not necessarily a problem if you're not planning on using it as much more than a base camp from which to explore the Scottish capital. The colour scheme is warm and cosy, while the sleek bathroom is easy on the eye. You're treated to lots of natural light from the big bay window and there are enough comfy furnishings for a couple or solo traveller to be content.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the city, you're covered for restaurants and bars in the surrounding New Town, while many of the must-see attractions are easily reachable on foot – the Scottish National Gallery is about ten minutes' walk away and the Old Town is another five minutes on top of that.

A Room in Bloom

Right across the street from Edinburgh’s beautiful Queen Street Gardens, this chic apartment has everything you need for a relaxing stay in the city. With its tall ceilings, soft grey walls, dark wood floors and modern furnishings, there’s an elegant simplicity in the decor that makes you feel instantly at home. We love how the home has been carefully designed with space in mind, like the bespoke kitchenette, cleverly hidden within a cabinet, and the stairs up to the mezzanine bedroom creating a visual feature piece in their own right. After mornings enjoying breakfast at the window-side table and luxuriating under the rainfall shower, go out and explore your surroundings. You’ve got plenty of Edinburgh’s most iconic sights within easy walking distance, including Princes Street for great shopping (six minutes away), Edinburgh Castle for an afternoon of history (twelve minutes away) and Calton Hill for stunning sunset views over the city (fourteen minutes away). Factor in the countless bars and restaurants in your New Town neighbourhood and you’ve got ample entertainment to keep you going.

When you’re not relaxing in your chic apartment, go out and explore your surroundings. Shop along Princes Street (a six-minute walk away), stroll through Queen Street Gardens (two minutes) and visit Edinburgh Castle (twelve minutes). Pour a glass of wine or mix up a cocktail at the bespoke kitchenette and relax. Then get ready with the environmentally-friendly complimentary toiletries, made with natural ingredients, in the modern bathroom with its terrazzo-style tiling and head for an evening out at one of the nearby restaurants and bars.
