Take over this Victorian manor home, perched on a hillside overlooking Pendine Sands. Offering nine bedrooms, each with separate bathrooms, this palatial home has a multi-generational family stay written all over it. Kids will love you for the cinema room and separate games cabin in the gardens. And who wouldn’t be impressed with that grand dining room commanding sea views and a hot tub to soak up the sunset vistas? If we were being picky, some of the interiors feel a little tired in places. But for a home of this size, we can forgive that. Location-wise, you’re a short walk from the seven-mile-long beach and Pendine's seaside resort centre.

The garden has a serene summerhouse, but the best place to absorb the peaceful surroundings is from the heated hot tub. Drift away in the warm bubbles while contemplating the scenery of the rolling countryside. It’s a scenic 40-minute walk into the village of Wiseman’s Bridge, or fetch your towel, bathing suit and other paraphernalia to make the ten-minute drive down to the glorious Pembrokeshire coastline and its award-winning beaches.

Although this Pembrokeshire apartment underwent a recent renovation, one thing that hasn't changed is just how peaceful the view from the balcony is, with the unmistakably blue waters of Carmarthen Bay peering through the trees. It may not be the biggest outdoor space in the world, but this seaward orientation makes up for it.

Inside, the glass doors in the main living area are especially generous when it comes to natural light and this dances pleasingly off the wooden floors and white walls. When it comes to the design, it's a pretty simple affair with only a few pieces of coastal artwork nodding to the location, but it's all been executed pretty well, particularly the sleek kitchen and bathroom.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, the centre of Saundersfoot and its beach is all of five mintues' walk from the front door. The town of Tenby is also only ten minutes' drive down the coastline and offers visitors a castle and a selection of galleries to visit.

Out on the deck, you can bask in the scenery while firing up the barbecue, watching the four-legged family members let off steam in the enclosed garden. Better yet, take the dogs for a walk along the sea – Saundersfoot Beach is just a ten-minute stroll away. Brimming with seaside charm and awash with cute cafes, traditional pubs and delicious restaurants, Saundersfoot is a gem in Pembrokeshire's crown. Grab an ice cream cone and sprawl out on the sand or try your hand at crabbing along the harbour walls. Tenby's sprawling beaches are also ten minutes away by car – safe to say, this is an excellent spot for an escape to the coast.

Utter relaxation awaits at this gorgeous home in the heart of Carmarthenshire, an area affectionately referred to as the “Garden of Wales” Nestled in the heart of Llansteffan, this is the perfect setting for a relaxing retreat to the Welsh countryside, boasting gorgeous living spaces and a quiet patio, ideal for unwinding after long walks along the River Towy. We could easily spend all day out here – sipping a cup of tea and making the most of the sunshine – but we wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to head inside and mellow out in the cosy sitting room. Treat your friends to a tune on the grand piano or channel Dylan Thomas – once a guest here– and while away the afternoon reading by the fire. 

Fans of the outdoors will love having a base here where you’re less than a mile from Llansteffan Beach. Go for a walk along the smooth sands or quench your thirst with a refreshing drink from the beachside tearoom. And if you fancy venturing further afield, why not hop in the car and head to Carmarthen, where you’ll find a whole a host of attractions to explore with your fellow guests?

Bookended on one side by Saundersfoot and the other by Narberth, this home in Ludchurch is in an excellent spot for exploring Pembrokeshire's coast. A ten-minute drive away is Telpyn Beach, but just a little further is Tenby, home to pretty pastel houses, narrow lanes lined with boutiques and pubs, and not to mention the five award-winning beaches. As far as locales go, it's pretty ideal – close to the seaside, yet tucked away in the countryside for extra tranquillity. And the views from this home aren't bad, either. Stretching out over the countryside and towards the sea, the best place to take it all in is the private hot tub. Pour yourself a glass of wine and sink into the bubbling waters, watching as the sun slowly sets and the stars come out. Inside is cosy and warm, with a comfortable living area and a sleek kitchen that makes cooking up a storm easy. Everything is on the ground floor, so it's very accessible – the en-suite in the main bedroom even has a roll-in shower, support aids and emergency pull cords. We think a family would be pleased to call this place home during a stay on the Welsh coast.

There's a Light in the Dark

Set above the sea, a three-minute walk to North Beach, this stylish home is perfectly positioned for exploring the heart of Tenby and the Pembrokeshire Coast. Inside, there’s an open-plan living space with a moody blue and grey colour scheme, creating a sophisticated yet cosy feel. We particularly loved the subtle nautical nods and funky artwork. On chilly days, warm your toes by the fire or sip a mug of hot tea by the enormous bay windows, watching as the waves break on the shore. Cook up your favourite dinners in the flash kitchenette – but not before you’ve sampled fish and chips from D.Fecci and Sons on lower Frog Street, some of the best in town. When the sun shines, make a beeline for the placid waters of Castle Beach and explore Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, the oldest of its kind in Wales. If you’d prefer to expend a little more energy, it’s an hour’s amble to Saundersfoot. 

What A Catch

We can't imagine a better place to switch off than here. No wif-fi, no disturbances – just you, your loved one, and the woods. For a couple looking to spend a romantic weekend away, this couldn't be more perfect.

Nestled between the trees on private woodlands, this cabin lets you shed away the thoughts of the daily grind, while still providing home comforts. The well-equipped kitchen is surprisingly large, so dinners at home are a breeze, and the plush sofa is the perfect place for getting cosy after a day of exploring. 

But really, the best seat in the house is just outside, overlooking the calm lake. You'll love rustling up barbecue dinners, tucking in around the picnic table, while looking out at the wide-spanning fields and the lake. It couldn't be more peaceful. Until you get the wood-burning hot tub bubbling, then we're really talking. Sip on wine in the warming hot tub as the sun starts to go down and the stars start to dot the night sky. 

Blissfully alone in the peace and quiet of the woods, you wouldn't think you're just a fifteen-minute drive from Tenby. Explore the quaint seaside town, full of traditional charm, coastal paths, narrow streets lined with pastel-coloured houses, knick-knack shops, and teeming with historical sites. The surrounding beaches are absolutely beautiful – ideal for taking in the view while tucking into fish and chips. 

The Great Alone

Enjoy cosy days by the fireplace with a gorgeous view of the surrounding landscape and sea. Snuggle up on the sofa to watch a movie with your loved ones as the toasty fire warms your feet up. If you find yourself staying here during the warmer months, crack open the living room window to allow the refreshing ocean breeze to flow through the home. 

Light bites can be enjoyed at the breakfast bar with a cup of coffee or simply relax as you socialise with your loved ones while the smell of a roast dinner wafts through the house. The spacious kitchen is the perfect spot to cook up a delicious hearty home-cooked meal to enjoy at the wooden dining table together, washed down with a bottle of sumptuous wine. Alternatively, you can dine alfresco at the outdoor table in the garden, followed by heading upstairs to sip on a refreshing drink on the balcony whilst you appreciate the view.

Head out to explore the coastline with Saundersfoot Harbour only a short walk away. From there, you get an expansive view of the bay with the rolling hill in the distance. Enjoy walking through the charming village of Saundersfoot or take a drive to Coppet Hall Beach to spend the day by the sea with your loved ones.

Sweeping beach views from the big bay windows and nautical touches to the decor – there’s no doubt you’re by the sea in this grand apartment. Right on the shorefront in the charming seaside town of Tenby, you can watch the waves roll in and out as you take breakfast at the sunny dining table. The open living area is an opulent medley of high corniced ceilings, bold midnight blue walls and tufted velvet sofas. Quartz-topped and tucked into an old archway, the kitchen is a shining example of modernity amidst the Georgian-style furnishings. If the view isn’t reminder enough, nautical-themed object d’art like a boat’s helm on the hallway wall and coastal pictures in the living room whisper of your seaside locale. Heading outside, the salty air carries with it the promise of ice-cream on the promenade (right on your doorstep) and crabbing at the beach’s rockpools. Boats bobbing in the harbour let you know that the catch of the day is as fresh as they come in Tenby’s myriad seafood restaurants.

Perched on a hilltop above Saundersfoot Bay, this white villa is blessed with some idyllic views of the Pembrokeshire coastline. Thankfully, it's not just out through the window that you can enjoy this panorama — the large terrace with plenty of seating and a barbecue is an astounding vantage point.

The home's interior is bright and contemporary, with stark white walls, smart wooden floors and large glass doors that bathe the space in natural light. If you're culinarily gifted, you're sure to love the huge and well-equipped kitchen, as well as the equally generously sized dining room in which everybody can enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Of course, you need to work up an appetite first and there are plenty of ways to do just that in the local area. Saundersfoot Beach takes less than ten minutes to reach on foot, while the myriad attractions in the seaside town of Tenby lie the same amount of time away by car.

You’ll feel on top of the world here at this charming stone cottage we found hidden away in the dreamy Welsh countryside. Located in Ludchurch – the second highest point in Pembrokeshire – this bucolic home offers stunning views of the region from its gorgeous patio, which comes complete with its very own hot tub, perfect for spending summer nights relaxing under the stars. 

We could easily spend all day out here but if you fancy exploring further afield, there’s plenty to discover nearby. Go for a relaxing stroll through Colby Woodland Garden or treat little ones to an action-packed day out at Oakwood Theme Park. And if you’re travelling with a furry friend, Telpyn Beach is ideal for stretching their legs and soaking up beautiful coastal views. 

Daisies & Barley

Discover the beauty of the South Pembrokeshire from this stunning beachfront base, situated in the small seaside resort of Saundersfoot. More compact than nearby Tenby, which lies a few miles to the south, the place has a unique charm all of its own.

South-facing sea views grab all the headlines here, with large windows in the open layout living area/kitchen, plus direct access to a private balcony ensuring you can make the most of the unparalleled location. 

The interior decor is no less eye-catching, with mid-century style leather seating, a wood burner set into the wall, plus a subtle maritime theme, with hints of blue and wood cladding that reminded us of the side of a beach hut.

Sharing the open-plan space is the kitchen, with the sink set up so you can look out at the waves as you wash up the bits and pieces that won't fit in the dishwasher. Rather sensibly, the hob and oven face the opposite way, to minimise distractions. With dinner ready, it's down to you to plate up and grab a seat at the rustic yet elegant dining table.

Elsewhere, the two bedrooms keep up with the nods to the nautical setting, with striped wallpaper and sea-themed artwork adorning the walls.

In addition to the expansive beach, the old tramway route that connected the coal port to mines at Stepsaside survives as a spectacular section of the picturesque Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It's 186 miles long in total, but we'd recommend dipping in and out to walk along particularly panoramic parts.

Those who prefer their outdoor activities more action-packed will find some of Pembrokeshire's finest surf spots within a twenty-mile drive. A particular standout is Freshwater West, which is hailed by many as the most reliable break in the land of dragons and daffodils.

The second bedroom is another large double with a super King bed, modern ensuite with shower, Smart TV and views looking out onto the garden. The third bedroom is the perfect place for two children, with a bunk bed with storage underneath for space saving, dressing table and garden views. The main bathroom is roomy and has the latest fittings, including a large bath for unwinding and a waterfall shower. Moving on through to the open plan kitchen/dining area...

Luxury Countryside Haven

When Mary Ann Evans paid a visit to this home in 1857, she was inspired to write a novel. A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda.

No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway.

If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century landmark that lends the sandy spot its name. Catching the twenty-minute ferry to see the abbey on Caldey Island is well worth doing, too.

And it is in a way, just not the USA. It's actually in the deep south of Wales, part of Trefloyne Manor Golf Course and Spa. Guests can access both of these facilities for an extra fee, as well as the bar and restaurant which sit just a few minutes' walk away. The inside of the home has the feel of a secluded forest cabin, thanks to the wooden ceilings, floors and walls. However, the smart design of the address means it can adapt to the seasons — there's underfloor heating for the colder months and glass doors leading out to a balcony for when the sun makes an appearance. When the weather does look bright, Tenby's South Beach can be reached in fifteen minutes on foot, while the town of Penally can be reached in twenty.
