The Sea & the Moon

Bristling with off-beat rustic charm, this cosy restored stone barn nearby the stunning Berwyn Mountains is the perfect place to explore the Welsh countryside. And while its stone walls and exposed beams offer a certain old-world appeal, underfloor heating and fast broadband ensure this home has modern trappings too.

Wake up among the sheep, cows, and birds, and start your day dining alfresco on the outside terrace (perhaps grilling something delicious up on the barbecue) and soaking in those magnificent mountain views. Nearby, you can hike and cycle to your heart's content around the Welsh countryside. 

If you’re feeling adventurous, the entrance to Snowdonia National Park is only a fifteen-minute drive away, while a forty-minute drive will take you right to mighty Snowdon mountain itself. South of Snowdon mountain, you can conquer the peaks of Cader Idris, Aran Fawddwy, and Berwyn – all under an hour's drive away. Meanwhile, the gorgeous Lake Bala and the nearby village of Bala are only ten minutes away by car.

At night, settle down by the fire pit and enjoy those clear, peaceful skies, before snuggling down inside onto the couch with a warming brew and if you can find it, a sweet slice of Bara birth – a traditional Welsh tea bread.

A spacious four-bedroom home on the island of Anglesey, located next to Rhosneigr railway station and just a ten-minute walk from the beach, this home is ideal for group getaways with friends and family. 

Both inside and out, you'll find features that point to the building's history – from the exposed stone wall in the living room that was part of the original 1850 cottage to the hot tub in the garden and the years in between.

Nearby, there's not one but two award-winning sandy beaches – Traeth Crigyll and Traeth Llydan – which are popular with watersports lovers. And if you're not into adrenaline-pumping activities, a simple walk along the dune-backed beach brings its own pleasure. Alternatively, Anglesey Golf Club is just a five-minute walk away. The traditional interiors are what you’d expect of a historic home, with exposed beams and a low ceiling on the top floor (taller guests, beware). Gather around the inglenook fireplace on a wintry night, or have your morning coffee in the private garden when it’s warm. When you’re ready to explore, the town’s best spots are right on your doorstep – including Conwy Castle, just a few minutes away by foot. 

Castle Cloisters

Snuggled at the southern point of Snowdonia National Park in Sarnau, this quaint abode is made for rural exploration. If you don't fancy the challenging terrains of Snowdon, there are various walking and cycling trails close by to the cottage.

This snug home infuses a homespun and rustic feel with modern comforts. Find stone walls and wooden beams looking into a TV, DVD player and contemporary cooking items. It's the perfect blend of tradition and technology. 

To really capture the privacy and peace of your home, sit out on the garden bench and admire the stunning views. Situated in a quiet hamlet, the only sounds you'll hear are from the animals in the nearby fields.

If you'd prefer to get out and explore the nearby area, the encompassing landscape is blessed with numerous mountain biking trails. If two wheels aren't your scene, Bala is just four miles away and is an oasis of water sports, abseiling and kayaking.

Cool and contemporary inside, it’s quite the contrast to the rugged landscape surrounding it. Just take care with the cliff edge – little ones and four-legged friends will need to be supervised. 

Clifftop Dream

Picture the scene — you've just spent a long day in the great Welsh outdoors and you're faced with the choice of snuggling up by the crackling log burner, lying back into a steamy bath or sitting out in the garden and watching the sky go through its dramatic daily transformation.
