One of the funkiest former grain stores we ever did see, this little home is part of a farm in the countryside just outside Pwllheli. Lovingly converted with a great deal of flair and imagination, it's far from your usual holiday home. Upcycled furniture, industrial pieces and pops of colour mix with natural wood, leather and slate. The ground floor living space is cosy and quirky, with a log burner, beamed ceilings and an open staircase. Cook up family meals in the fully kitted-out kitchen and choose to eat indoors or out in the private garden. There's so much to love about this place, but we particularly like the wet room, with its rain shower, light tunnel and penguins hiding in the built-in shelves, and the pretty garden with its fun seating areas. With the owners just next door, make use of the gym, make friends with the farm animals and cook on the fire pit in the evenings. It's just a ten-minute drive into the town, with loads more to see and do nearby, from walking and horse riding to playing on the sandy beaches.

What could be more romantic than a tiny cottage in the country? This pretty little home on the Llyn Peninsula is surprisingly modern thanks to its recent refurbishment. Comfortable and stylish, it's the perfect retreat for couples trying to get away from it all. Set in a secluded rural area, with great walking on your doorstep, it's about as far from the madding crowd as it gets. There's a lawned garden and little deck to enjoy the views from, and inside you'll find a log burner to warm up even the chilliest of evenings. The building retains character features like a vaulted ceiling, beams and a mezzanine level, but it's been smartly modernised to provide an open-plan living space with a fabulous kitchen and breakfast bar, as well as a cosy seating area with patio doors to bring the outside in. And our favourite part must be the en-suite bathroom with its contemporary bath and walk-in rain shower. Special touches like the robes, slippers and a welcome pack of goodies make this place a real treat. Less than a fifteen-minute drive to Pwllheli, and ten to Abersoch, there are loads of great beaches, village pubs and local shops to explore nearby.

As we drove down the lane and saw the sea views appear, we knew we were in for a treat with this lovely home. Initially three fisherman's cottages, this place has been skillfully converted to create a fantastic family home.

We adore the sea vistas as well as the outlook over Porthdinllaen Beach, Nefyn's headland golf course, the boats in the harbour and Anglesey from the 2-acre garden and terrace, perfect for alfresco dining. You can enjoy the seascape from the vast windows inside too. Use the telescope to watch the boats on the ocean and the sea birds fishing, then whip up some seafood and laverbread in the large kitchen with its French doors opening to the garden.

If you fancy a day on the area's golden sands, bask in the sun on Porthdinllaen Beach, just over a ten-minute drive away, or head to the nearby Amgueddfa Forwrol Llŷn Maritime Museum.

If you like gardening, there’s a garden centre, with a café within walking distance, while the Wales Coast Path and Abererch Beach are 2.4 miles away. You don’t have to go anywhere for stunning views – a bench at the front of the cottage lovers over Cardigan Bay or take a seat in the private patio area, have a slice of complimentary cake and admire the vistas over to Snowdonia. This stone-built cottage is semi-detached and some of the lawned areas are shared, so you may not have the place totally to yourself though.

The Llyn Peninsula is often overlooked when it comes to planning a getaway in the UK, but it's a region of long stretches of sand, colourful beach huts and yachts bobbing in harbours. Outside the address, the Wales Coast Path is on your doorstep, so you could visit a different beach every day if you so wished. Here, there's some of the best surf in Wales, great for beginners and seasoned surfers alike. This cute little cottage makes the most of its location right on the seafront. It’s just steps away from a small sandy bay where the sea laps at the shore of the Llyn Peninsula. You’ll be in the heart of Abersoch village, a charming harbour town where fishing boats bob in the water and beach cafés line the shore. If you like your beaches long and practically deserted, it’s an eight-minute drive to Porth Neigwl. The cottage itself is fishing-village white on the outside and has a handful of balconies and terraces all facing the beautiful sea view. There’s a walled patio with an outdoor fire for chilly evenings and a dining table on the terrace for sunny days. That’s not to mention the glass-fronted balcony that looks out over the boats in the harbour too. Inside, it’s cottage-chic with wooden floors and nautical decor touches – driftwood fireplaces and anchor cushions. The main living area is open plan, on the ground floor, where a living room is set around an electric stove and the big breakfasting table is set for six. Upstairs, a more formal living room opens up onto the top terrace with views out over the harbour below.

This home feels like a celebration of the sea and the great outdoors. First of all there’s that view from the garden out over the green of the LLyn Peninsula and to the denim-blue Cardigan Bay beyond. Make the most of days outdoors in the summer kitchen, perhaps prepping and grilling some freshly-caught fish for the nearby sea. Dining can take place by the blooming hydrangea on the lawn, or on the patio. 

From the wall of glass in the living room, you’ve got a view of the boats in the bay – get a closer look through the telescope. After an afternoon splashing in the water and wandering the coastal paths, enjoy a pint and delicious bites at the two pubs in town – both are family-friendly and are a short stroll from home.

On a sunny day at this home on the Llŷn Peninsula, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were on a little island somewhere much closer to the equator. The garden blooms with tropical plant life – palm trees are dotted everywhere and the air is scented with fig leaf. Down below are the glimmering waters of the sea, and there’s no better place to admire the view than from the outdoor hot tub. 

Step inside and you will see that the house is a homage to Great British design. Make use of the high-spec appliances in the modern farmhouse-style kitchen for whipping home-cooked delights. These can be enjoyed in the dining room, or the spectacular conservatory – the showpiece of the house. With its glass exterior that frames the sea, it’s a breathtaking spot for sunny breakfasts and long, lazy lunches. 

The house is a quick walk to Machroes Beach, a long sandy expanse perfect for splashing around in the shallows or practising a wide range of watersports like sailing and windsurfing. Follow the coastal path which runs close to the house, for rambling walks through stunning scenery. Machroes Beach backs onto Abersoch golf course, where you can have a swing and a putt on their 18-hole course overlooking the ocean.

We love this home's interior. It exudes warmth and comfort, with a country-style kitchen that'll delight any home chef. But really, our favourite bit of this charming home is the suntrap of a garden. Surrounded by lush greenery, with a sweet converted shed at the bottom of the garden. And to top it all off, your bubbling hot tub awaits – submerge into its warm, muscle-soothing waters after a day exploring the area's many cycling and hiking trails. When you're not tucking into barbecue dinners in the garden or relaxing in the hot tub, you'll be cosy on the plush sofa, sipping on a glass of red wine in front of the crackling fire, watching a film on Netflix.

If exploring is on the agenda, lace up your hiking boots and follow the Wales Coastal Path to Pwllheli or stay local and take the ten-minute amble into the heart of town for indie shops and fantastic seafood eateries. Surfing enthusiasts should make a beeline for Hell’s Mouth, a seven-minute drive away – keep an eye out for Bottlenose dolphins as you carve through the waves. When the day draws to a close, head back to your pad for a chilled glass of wine as the sun starts to set and an early night in the cosy bedrooms, ready to do it all again tomorrow.

This coastal home sits within beautiful grounds at the entrance to the village of Abersoch, making it an ideal setting for seaside escapes. The uninterrupted sea views are undoubtedly the star of the show here, and they can be enjoyed from inside and out. We love the flower-filled garden, and the front terrace with its table and chairs – it’s a stunning spot for afternoon tea. Inside, you’ll find high ceilings and antique furniture. Given that it’s a period home, it’s unsurprising that some of the decor is a little dated – it won’t appeal to everyone.
