Set above the sea, a three-minute walk to North Beach, this stylish home is perfectly positioned for exploring the heart of Tenby and the Pembrokeshire Coast. If you’d prefer to expend a little more energy, it’s an hour’s amble to Saundersfoot.

With such glorious panoramas, you could be forgiven for not really paying the interior much attention, but when you do get around to it, you'll find a modern space that's simple but effective — we're fans of the minimalist white kitchen, in particular. You're just a ten-minute drive away from Tenby's award-winning South Beach, and it's just a little further into Tenby's town centre. From there, you can admire the pastel-coloured houses, marvel at the ruins of Tenby Castle, and even take a boat trip to neighbouring Caldey Island. Closer to home, you'll find a couple of award-winning restaurants, two cosy pubs, and a village shop in Penally.

When Mary Ann Evans paid a visit to this home in 1857, she was inspired to write a novel. A year later, Scenes From A Clerical Life was published under the nom de plume George Eliot and over the course of the next twenty years, she would write some of the most influential books of the period, including Middlemarch and Daniel Deronda.

No pressure to anybody coming to this four-storey, Grade-II listed townhouse in the present day, then. Straight away, you can see why it had the power to rouse dormant literary ambitions — the view from the huge windows of Tenby Harbour is nothing short of sublime. Even though the interior has been updated in the proceeding two centuries, there are still signs of the home's heritage, from the high ceilings and tall windows to the original wooden floorboards in the hallway.

If you ever need a break from working on your manuscript, Castle Beach takes all of a minute to reach on foot, as does the 12th-century landmark that lends the sandy spot its name. Catching the twenty-minute ferry to see the abbey on Caldey Island is well worth doing, too.

Overlooking Tenby's South Beach, this apartment on the lower-ground floor of a handsome yellow building is ideal for those who want to be able to go from their front door to the seaside in a matter of seconds, rather than minutes.

Aside from this proximity to the sea, we found lots else to like about the home. The design is pared-back and sophisticated, with parquet floors, white walls and a selection of chic furnishings creating the relaxed ambience of a high-end hotel's lobby. The baby-blue kitchen is both super-sleek and big enough for cooking up hearty meals, while there's also a private courtyard outside just in case the weather's nice enough to dine alfresco.

If that's the case, there's plenty to see and do in this south Welsh idyll. Tenby Castle is only ten minutes' walk up the coast, as is the town's Museum and Art Gallery. This area by the North Beach is also where you can catch a ferry to Caldey Island, on which you can visit the monastery and spot some of the diverse wildlife.

Of course by location we mean there is plenty for you to do here – discover Tenby by visiting a handful of the independent shops all within walking distance. Browse wares, buy souvenirs, and treat yourself before heading to one of the surrounding cafes or restaurants for a late brunch. We can’t imagine a better place to go to really explore this beautiful Victorian coastal town, than the harbour. Colourful and charming, it’s a pleasure to simply pass through here, but why not stop and see if you can organise a boat trip? Further afield, you can paddleboard and sail, and if you’re keen to see some wildlife, Folly Farm is a fifteen-minute drive away, but well worth the trip for the adventure park that will certainly keep kids entertained for hours. 

When the weather plays ball, take advantage of the sunshine and organise a day trip to Caldey island where Cistercian Monks still live, or drive twenty-three-minutes to Pembrokeshire. And when the weather isn’t on your side? Well, that’s okay too, because then you’ll just be stuck inside this gorgeous home. For lunch, utilise the deep-blue kitchen and fry up some toasties for everyone to enjoy before playing a few rounds of UNO. In the evenings, gather outside at the picnic-style table for an alfresco dinner and stay there long after to watch the stars with the smell of the sea in your nose.

Although this Pembrokeshire apartment underwent a recent renovation, one thing that hasn't changed is just how peaceful the view from the balcony is, with the unmistakably blue waters of Carmarthen Bay peering through the trees. It may not be the biggest outdoor space in the world, but this seaward orientation makes up for it.

Inside, the glass doors in the main living area are especially generous when it comes to natural light and this dances pleasingly off the wooden floors and white walls. When it comes to the design, it's a pretty simple affair with only a few pieces of coastal artwork nodding to the location, but it's all been executed pretty well, particularly the sleek kitchen and bathroom.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, the centre of Saundersfoot and its beach is all of five mintues' walk from the front door. The town of Tenby is also only ten minutes' drive down the coastline and offers visitors a castle and a selection of galleries to visit.
