A serene stay awaits you at this stylish and classical Grecian villa, nestled in a peaceful coastal spot in Agkisaras on the sunny island of Crete. This home provides some picturesque views from both the garden and the raised balcony – it's easy to gaze out at the sparkling blue ocean in the distance, as well as the lush greenery that surrounds you here. Inside, the styling is boho and beautiful, while the outside is grand and majestic, with a wonderful pool and alfresco dining table – ideal for cocktails at sunset. 

The Green Olive

The huge outdoor space at this contemporary villa caught our eye. There’s a well-kept lawn, a heated pool, hammocks and a shady dining area to enjoy, all with fantastic sea views. Inside, the open plan areas have been designed to let in lots of natural light and the decor is simple yet stylish. There’s even a private sauna here, which you don’t find in many Greek villas. And when you’re ready to explore, the nearest beach is within walking distance and the buzzing town of Heraklion is just a short drive away.    

From the Pool to the Horizon

Promising sea views from the terrace, this ground-floor home is great for a coastal getaway. Given the restaurants within walking distance, we don't think you'll mind the lack of an oven – there's still a decent kitchenette for preparing breakfasts and snacks. Baby travel equipment, children's books, and games can be provided to young families. While you may see your neighbours outdoors, perhaps you'll spend more time at Stalidas Beach. Plus, Hersonissos and Malia are 3 kilometres away if you're kid-free and seeking nightlife.

A Vision of Sunlight

This welcoming home is located just 800 metres from the sandy shores of Hersonissos. It’s also a thirty-minute drive from Heraklion, making it a great base from which to explore the island. You will have neighbours here, but it feels private and secluded thanks to the sheltered garden and terrace. From here, you can soak up the sea views whilst swimming in the pool or cooking up a treat on the barbecue. Inside, the rooms might not be suitable for those with reduced mobility but it’s child-friendly, and your host can arrange nice extras including babysitting services and beauty treatments. 

Blue Reign

Gather all your favourite people for a stay at this palatial estate housing two identical villas within nearly two acres of private Cretan landscapes. Both villas offer gold-standard amenities, with a lengthy outdoor swimming pool to soak up the panoramic views of the sea and the Psiloritis mountains and a professional tennis court at the heart of the grounds. And don’t get us started on the crisp, minimalist interiors and unique collection of paintings by award-winning artist Kostas Tsolis. Location-wise, you’re just fifteen minutes from the airport and Heraklion city, and Ammoudara Beach is even closer. 

The Garden of the Gods

Soak up the sun at this dreamy villa, elevated by its marble pool and gorgeous sea views. You might have to head down to the shops to pick up some essentials like detergent or tea and coffee, but it's less than a ten-minute drive to the supermarket and the charming seaside village of Ligaria.  Part of a five-villa complex, Cretan herbs grow in the rock garden here and you'll find plenty of outdoor spaces in the sun and shade, with a private balcony and table tennis upstairs. Each bedroom has glass doors that lead outside, making this home well-suited to alfresco living.

An Idyllic Horizon

Nestled in the north-eastern corner of Crete, this villa is an ideal base for a coastal stay. Privacy is limited here, however – the garden is overlooked by the neighbouring home while inside, the mezzanine bedroom is semi-open to the space below and has an open en-suite. With two guests sleeping on the pull-out bed in the living room at full occupancy, we think this home is better suited to families who don’t mind sharing their space. For days out of the villa, seaside seekers can easily get their coastal fix, with Malia beach just 600 metres away. 

Eucalyptus & Olive

If you’re looking for a refreshing island escape, this contemporary hideaway delivers a great solution. Located in Gouves, it’s just a twenty-minute drive from Heraklion airport while the nearest beach is just 2.7 kilometres away. Back at home, you’ll find the garden, swimming pool and terrace set the tone for total relaxation. Kids will love the shallow pool and the play area, while the ground-floor bedrooms make this a fantastic option for those with reduced mobility. You will need a car here, but your host is on hand to help organise car rentals as well as a range of other extra services. 


Angel's Wing

Ideal for a large group of friends or several families travelling together, this villa has plenty of room. Two of the bedrooms are in a separate area with a sitting room and kitchenette, so you won’t all be crowding each other in the main villa. The outside space here is the main event, with sea views, a private heated pool, a hot tub, and a barbecue area. There’s also a sauna and fitness area inside, along with ping pong and pool – there’s no chance of boredom here. Best of all, it’s just above the village of Kokkini Hani, with the beach a mere 1500 metres away. 

A Touch Of Ochre

This first-floor villa offers privacy and peace with all the luxuries of a boutique hotel. With a free limousine from the airport and a decadent arrival hamper of food, wine, and comfy slippers, you're guaranteed a warm welcome. There are plenty of standout features here – a sauna, balcony, and home cinema, plus direct access to a private section of the beach and a pool where you can request a waiter service. You'll be hard-pressed to leave, but we think the on-site bar and restaurant offer tempting incentives. And the eateries, monuments and shops of Heraklion are less than 27km away, perfect for a day trip.

Royal Tempest

Located in the quiet village of Kyrianna, a fifteen-minute drive from Platanes Beach on the north coast of Crete, this laidback villa feels just like home. With two living spaces, a roof deck and a large garden, there’s plenty of room for a family or group of friends to spread out. Mornings begin around the dining table in the kitchen, drizzling local honey over dollops of Greek yoghurt and planning your day’s itinerary. 

But before you begin your island adventure, splash about with your loved ones in the pool or recline in a deckchair on the lawn with a glass of something fruity in hand. Fire up the barbecue and treat your brood to a tasty grilled lunch, then once the plates are cleared, jump in the car and make haste to the dazzling seaside. If you like to keep active on your holidays, take the twenty-five-minute drive to Prassano Gorge – look out for the griffon vultures nesting in the rock walls. 

Euphorbia

Soak up the brilliantly blue views from this stellar holiday home. It sits up high, overlooking the incredible Elounda Bay – but the prime position is not the only elevated thing about this home. It's been created to ensure every guest can enjoy pure relaxation – there's a multi-level outdoor area with plenty of space for each guest to soak up the sunshine, including from the stunning freeform infinity pool, as well as the covered dining terrace where you can sip cocktails at sunset. Inside the home is stylish and modern, yet still retains a ton of traditional Cretan charm, with its whitewashed walls and built-in furniture.
