Stay just 400 metres from the centre of Agios Nikolaos on the gorgeous Bay of Mirabello, when you choose this well-placed apartment. There’s a small harbour to explore or watch the world go by at one of the cafés and restaurants lining the shores of the Voulismeni Lake. For beach lovers, there are the nearby beaches of Ammos and Almiros. The apartment itself is modern, but there are stairs to climb (something to bear in mind if you have limited mobility). Also, this home has a designated outdoor seating area on a shared terrace, but it’s not really private, so you’ll need to be willing to chat with the neighbours.

Marble & Salt

Ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking a luxuriously carefree stay, this suite-style home in an adults-only complex ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to a romantic coastal getaway. A private pool, sea views and a complimentary welcome drink are just some of the delights in store. And your host can help arrange a plethora of extras (for a fee) to make your stay all the more memorable, from private chefs to boat cruises and even special honeymoon packages. What’s more, Almyros Beach is just a short stroll away, and Agios Nikolaos is easily reachable too where you’ll find plenty in the way of dining and entertainment options. 


Golden Heaven

With a view of Agios Nikolaos and the Sea of Crete, this suite-style villa is all about coastal relaxation. Beach Almyros is practically on your doorstep, with more sandy shores a short drive away. When you're not exploring, you'll make a beeline for the panoramic balcony, although the indoor hot tub is another fantastic spot to unwind with a glass of wine. Only a small kitchenette is available, so don't expect to cook big meals here. That said, breakfast is included and you'll enjoy a complimentary welcome drink upon arrival – now that's what we call five-star service. 

Teak by the Sea

You'll find this sleek villa a stone's throw from Agios Nikolaos, one of Crete's most popular spots. The outside space here is obviously a highlight. Between the multiple sea-facing balconies, sunny terrace and private heated pool, there are plenty of places to unwind with a glass of wine while admiring the endless blue scenery. While the views are hard to beat, the contemporary interior stacks up quite well. Picture windows flood each room with light, relaxing rainfall showers await in the bathrooms and the modern kitchen has everything you need to whip up dinner. Better yet, speak to your host about hiring a private chef to do all the cooking for you.

The Hippocrene Haven

With its private swimming pool, sociable outside spaces, and views of Mirabello Bay, this villa is an excellent choice for a family or group of friends. Inside, the place is equipped with everything you’ll need for a stress-free stay – the kitchen’s well-appointed, sleeping arrangements are flexible, and the en-suite bathrooms are complete with Jacuzzi bathtubs. If exploring is on the agenda, Havania Beach is around 500 metres from your doorstep, and the seaside town of Agios Nikolaos is only a short drive away. 

Chasing Sunlight

This apartment is situated just 400 metres from the centre of Agios Nikolaos on the beautiful Bay of Mirabello. Explore the small harbour or the circular Voulismeni Lake with its cafes and restaurants. Alternatively, spend the day on one of the nearby beaches of Ammos and Almiros. Back at this modern apartment, whilst there is a patio area, it’s part of a larger shared terrace with your neighbours, so this place won’t suit you if you’re looking for more outside space.

The Greek Sun

Breathtaking sea views and a minimalist boho interior await at this beautiful Cretan getaway just outside Agios Nikolaos. With a private pool, a Jacuzzi tub accessed from the main bedroom and plenty of outdoor seating to soak up the brilliant blue vistas, you’re sure to find your holiday bliss. While you’ll be sharing some of the grounds with the neighbouring villa, you can reserve both homes for a larger group. And with direct access to the sands of Almyros Beach (800 metres away) – not to mention the possibility to arrange paid extras like private chefs and boat excursions – there’s no end to the fun and relaxation in store. 


The Mark of Athena

The sweeping coastal views from this newly-built villa may be heaven-sent, but it’s the lengthy pool and stylish sun terraces which are getting us hot under the collar. An excellent choice for two couples sharing, each bedroom has direct access to the wraparound panoramic balcony and an en-suite shower room to kickstart your day. Location-wise, the centre of Elounda and its wide sandy beach and seafront restaurants are just a two-kilometre stroll downhill –⁠ and you can always hop in a taxi on your way back home later. 

The Gods Give

Just imagine dangling your bare feet into the crystal clear water off your own stone-built jetty. It's just one of the incredible experiences on offer at this luxury home close to Elounda. Boasting four en-suite bedrooms and perfect for a family or a group of friends, it's a smartly modernised home with a stunning setting, right on the coast. 

Built in the 1970s and retaining a bohemian charm with antique tiles and colourful furnishings, it's a magical place with gardens going right down the gently lapping shore. You'll even have access to a semi-private little beach – ideal for morning swims. An oasis of calm, our favourite spot is the terrace, with its comfy seating and view across the water and the mountains. 

Fully staffed with a maid, chef and a team of gardeners, you need not lift a finger but keen cooks will enjoy getting to grips with the well-equipped kitchen and the barbecue, or just head into town for a meal at one of the many excellent restaurants. Just be sure to be back in time to see the sunset over the sea from your garden – it's really something special.

Elemental Colour

We love the sea views from this contemporary house, and with terraces, balconies and picture windows, there are plenty of spots to enjoy them from. Built as two detached villas, connected by internal stairs, this is a great option for anyone travelling as part of a group – you’ll share the outdoor pool area but have your own private space indoors. To make your holiday feel extra special, your host can help arrange a private chef to cook for you. Or if you’re travelling with the children, a babysitter can be arranged so you can enjoy a child-free night out at nearby Agios Nikolaos.


The Ocean Bloom

This beachfront villa caught our eye for its spectacular sea views. And with huge bedrooms windows, they can be enjoyed from the moment you wake up. There isn’t a swimming pool here, but with the sea on your doorstep we don’t think you’ll miss it, and you’ll have your own private Jacuzzi on the terrace overlooking the water. Your host can help arrange a variety of treats, including a private chef and beauty treatments, and when you’re ready to explore, the seaside resort of Agios Nikolaos is just a few kilometres away.


The Rose of Grecia

Homespun and unfussy, this stone villa is the ideal place for relaxing with your loved ones – that is, when you’re not stretched out on the shores of Istron Bay (less than a ten-minute stroll from your doorstep).

Cook up traditional Cretan cuisine in the farmhouse-style kitchen, then serve at the outdoor dining table on the flagstone terrace. While away the hours in the pool or from the comfort of a lounger – the south-facing position of the abode means you get sunshine all day long. 

The quiet bedrooms demand cat naps in the afternoon but if you’re itching to explore, the nearby hotel has a variety of amenities to keep the whole family busy. Practice your drop shot on the tennis courts as the little ones let off some steam in the children’s club. Retreat to your pad in the evening for a glass of wine alfresco as the sky turns pink.
