In Nea Skioni, Halkidiki, this villa is just 50 metres from the nearest sandy beach. It’s a short walk into the coastal town, where you’ll find seafood restaurants and family-run tavernas galore. Days can be spent by the poolside, or indulging in long, lazy lunches on the terrace outdoors with the sea shimmering in the distance. Although it’s one of four similar maisonettes within a holiday complex, the traditional Greek touches inside – a stone fireplace and beachy bric-a-brac on the open-plan living area – save it from feeling generic.  

Paradise on a Hill

Located in the Greek Pelion region, this cliffside villa is perfectly set up for groups of friends and families looking to get away from it all. You're surrounded by the dramatic landscape of the mountain, so there'll be nothing to disturb you here but the gentle breeze rustling through the old fir trees and lush vegetation, ensuring a relaxing, stress-free stay. 

At this particular villa, you're well catered for when it comes to inviting alfresco areas – including several poolside sun loungers, a hammock and a summer kitchen, as well as three veranda terraces with a dining table overlooking the beautiful sea views in the distance. When dinnertime beckons, enjoy one last dip in your private pool before grilling locally sourced produce on the barbecue and feasting together under the shaded pergola.

Head out to explore and in addition to the small towns nearby, the nearest sandy beach of Paralia Platanidia, boasting crystal-clear waters and picturesque shores, is just twenty-five minutes away by car.

But it doesn't just have views – a seven-minute stroll will take you to Fourka beach, while the restaurants and bars of Fourka village are even closer. Back at home, the large garden, while rather empty, is perfect for family football games. The kitchen is small, but it has what you need to cobble together light bites to eat alfresco. Though there's enough space for three to occupy the studio, it might not feel the most private. There's a shared swimming pool, and Karnagio Beach is reachable by car. The location also sets you up to explore the natural beauty of the southern part of Pelion.

This cosy villa has its own private pool and terrace, and is only a stone's throw from the sea. Part of a complex of maisonettes, you might hear some noise from other residents during your stay. You'll have your own private entrance though, and the ground-floor bedroom makes this home suitable for guests with limited mobility. The complex has a dedicated car park, and we do recommend hiring a car for your stay. While you're right near the sea, the nearest sandy beach is Nea Skioni, a short drive up the road.

After a day of sightseeing, ensure you book a massage or a beauty treatment back at the on-site spa to get that healthy holiday glow, before heading to the resort bar to watch the sunset with a chilled drink in hand.

One of a collection of four villas in the middle of the island of Alonissos, this home's surroundings couldn't be more Mediterranean if they tried – olive trees, herb bushes and rocky terrain fill the garden, while the dazzling blue Aegean Sea stretches out to the distant horizon.

There are plenty of spots from which to appreciate this dreamy landscape. On hot days, the infinity swimming pool will likely be the top choice, but the loungers on the terrace enjoy an equally lovely vantage point. As well as that, there are a pair of balconies on the home's first floor which also offer a superb panorama.

That's quite enough about views, though. Behind the villa's yellow walls, you'll find an interior that combines rustic features and earthy colours with enough contemporary flourishes, like the flowery armchair and abstract artworks, to stop it from feeling dated. One of our favourite features is the pair of Jacuzzi tubs in the bathrooms that makes it easier than ever to completely switch off and relax.

Of course, there's only so long that you can gaze at the sea before the temptation to go for a swim proves too much. Fortunately, the nearest beach – Tourkoneri – is only seven minutes' drive away. The port town of Patitiri is only ten minutes away too when you fancy a meal out in a seafront restaurant.

The abode is located in a complex with three other villas in close proximity, so there may be little privacy. Inside, space is tight for a group of ten, so the place is better suited for those who like to spend their time in the sunshine. Outside, there’s a pool and a well-kept garden with a terrace for both dining and relaxing.

There are shared facilities including a gym and indoor pool, but you’ll also have your own outdoor pool and garden to enjoy. The neighbouring villas are fairly close to this home so it’s not entirely private, but you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable stay in Greece. The best feature of this villa is undoubtedly the view – you’ll likely spend all of your time gazing out to sea here. If you can tear your gaze away, the nearest beach is just five minutes away.

This home couldn’t be more ideally located. Set on Kassandra’s east coast, a short drive from both Pefkohori and Chaniotis, this villa offers the best of both worlds. While the interior is simple and the bedrooms are stripped-back, the place is well-equipped and certainly comfortable. Outside, there’s a barbecue and a covered terrace for alfresco dining. There isn’t a swimming pool here, but the beach is only a short walk away, so you’ll still keep cool on scorching days.

Mediterranean Mellow

A stone's throw from the sea, this villa has an independent apartment on the ground floor and step access to the rest of the home. Part of a complex of maisonettes, you won't have perfect privacy and you may hear some noise from neighbours during your stay. But there are plenty of spots to relax both indoors and out with the private pool and space for alfresco dining. While you'll be right by the sea, you'll have to drive a short way up the road to the nearest sandy beach, which is the gorgeous Nea Skioni beach.

White Horizon

This charming little home makes for a wonderful romantic break in Greece. You’ll find this villa just outside of Patitiri in the south of Alonnisos. Sweeping views combine with the boutique feel of the decor to make this home unique, and a stay here memorable for all the right reasons. 

Wake up and take in the beautiful views from the bedroom window before moving out to the terrace. As you drink your coffee and nibble on local pastries, plan how to spend your day. 

The lively port town of Patitiri is just ten minutes away by car. You could rent a boat and go sailing, or even take a coastal tour on a yacht. Steni Vala is a wonderful fishing village nearby – an eleven-minute drive. There you’ll find incredible seafood restaurants and a seascape dotted with fishing boats. The beach is just four minutes away in the car, or you can stroll there in twenty minutes and take in more of the villa’s lush surroundings. The restaurant and cafe at the beach serve excellent food so you can really make a day of it. 

An afternoon by the freshwater pool here is rewarded with glorious views and a pretty pergola to shelter under if you need a break from the sun. The covered dining area is lovely in the evening when the sun is setting. When the stars come out, take a seat on the terrace and spot constellations until the early hours.  


Vines On The Veranda

On the western coast of Skiathos, striking beaches and bays are waiting to be explored. While the bustling town of the same name is just a twelve-minute drive from this beachside wonder, you might already be occupied by watersports, hidden coves, and sunbathing. Less than fifty metres from the golden sands of Vromolimnos Beach, this charming villa-apartment sets the tone for the Greek island escape of your dreams. 

With your host on hand to arrange transfers and help sort out any coastal activities you fancy, it feels like luxury from the offset. As you arrive and wander across the grounds, you might even forget how close you are to the sea. Lush, green lawns, lively bushes, and leafy trees welcome you to the residents’ garden – a lovely spot to hide from the midday sun while nibbling olives and sipping wine.

As you head inside for a top-up, you’ll pass under the rich wood of your beamed ceilings. Modern yet understated, the living space features wicker and woven pieces which contribute to the theme of nature. Spend the evening out on the balcony, where there’s also an alfresco dining set and barbecue – anyone for a traditional grill for dinner?

The Kamara Dance

Standing on the terrace of this lovely home, it’s difficult to look away from the view. The Aegean Sea sparkles in the sunlight, with neighbouring islands the only interruption to the seascape. This villa sits on a verdant hillside in sunny Skiathos and it’s an all-round winner. 

One glimpse at the outside area and it’s easy to see how you’ll spend your stay. Plunge into the pool first thing, then sit with a coffee and breakfast under the veranda. The views really are captivating, so don’t expect to be able to get much heavy reading done – we constantly found our gaze being pulled towards the sea. 

There are two beaches – Megali Ammos and Vassilias – within six minutes of the villa. We liked to stroll along mid-morning, which gave us the perfect excuse to shelter from the hottest sun in a taverna, sampling local seafood and crisp white wine for lunch. 

The town centre and its shops, bars and restaurants are just ten minutes away by car. History buffs in your group might like to drive eighteen minutes to Skiathos Castle. This medieval site is now a ruin but was once a key settlement on the island – the stone ruins look especially dramatic on the rugged coastline and the views are magnificent.

Set in a boutique complex with lavish community spaces, Sirtaki is for guests who do not hold back on a luxurious holiday. The water's edge is just 150m away from your front door, and Pefkochori Beach's blue flag makes it an excellent place to swim. The clear water means it's a good spot for snorkelling, and when you get hungry there are local tavernas lining the promenade. And, if you fancy exploring further afield, head inland to find hilltop churches, quaint Greek villages, and some excellent hiking trails.

If you are looking for a luxurious escape with sweeping views across the coastline and the sun-dappled Aegean Sea, the seven-bedroom Daphne Villa carved into the cliffside cape is the place for you.
