Just a few minutes from the sea, in the charming town of Castro, you'll find this abode. The true highlight here is the mini-pool and solarium that act as an oasis for those seeking peace and privacy. That said, the water is just a short stroll downhill, or, if you hop in the car, it's just a five-minute drive. Well-placed for discovering Baroque towns and cities such as Otranto and Lecce, this is a solid shout for families and groups of friends alike.

Stone Citadel

Tucked away behind a bustling square in the historic heart Andrano, this beautifully restored home blends Mediterranean character with a decidedly style. Walk through the threshold to find an expansive ground floor featuring soaring vaulted ceilings, an open-plan living space, a Carrara marble kitchen, and a mezzanine study space watching over it all. The real highlight is the courtyard though – with its shady pool, cosy dining space and plentiful sunbathing spots. When you’re ready to explore, picturesque Andrano is right on your doorstep, or take a scenic drive to the coast – just ten minutes away.

The Andrano Courtyard

Tucked into the medieval village of Specchia Gallone, this 17th-century villa is a rare piece of Salento history brought back to life. Star-vaulted ceilings soar above the entrance hall and ground-floor rooms, while Lecce stone and original wrought ironwork speak to the building's age at every turn. Long alfresco lunches can stretch out in the garden colonnade or on the first-floor terrace, with views across the village rooftops. When the day calls for something beyond the grounds, the Adriatic coastline near Otranto and the cave formations of Grotta Zinzulusa – a twenty-two-minute drive – are within easy reach.

Stonework & Starlight

If an elegantly restored historic palace is on your wish list, then this home could be for you. We love the panoramic views over this historic town from the roof terrace. But the outdoor space doesn’t end there – there’s another area with a pool, pergola and outdoor kitchen, as well as an internal courtyard. Set over three levels, the stylish interiors provide a home-from-home. The light-filled living area is a particular highlight. Located in Muro Leccese, you’ll be a short walk from restaurants, bakeries and a range of landmarks.

Palazzo Elegant

Set in the heart of Lecce’s historic centre, just a two-minute stroll from baroque churches, bustling cafes and beautiful boutiques, this is the perfect base for exploring the city on foot. Housed in a period building with striking star-vaulted ceilings, yet upgraded with all mod-cons for a comfortable stay. Behind the scenes, you’ll find high-speed Wi-Fi and air conditioning to help you settle in with ease. Tucked in a quiet street yet moments from the action, it’s an ideal blend of convenience and calm.

Lecce Sun

This whitewashed home offers a slice of authentic Salento living. With arched ceilings, stone floors, and minimal interiors, it channels that classic Puglian aesthetic while staying cool and bright. Outside, a private pool within an enclosed courtyard sets the scene for sun-drenched afternoons and romantic evenings under the stars. And when it’s time to explore, you’re ideally placed for day trips to the historic town of Castro, the crystal waters of Santa Cesarea Terme, and the dramatic coastline of the Adriatic.

Sunwashed Sanctuary

This villa sits just above Puglia’s coast, with a view out over the sea from the suntrap of a rooftop terrace, lounger-strewn lawn and from the cooling water of the private pool. What’s more, steps lead directly from the garden to a swim platform on the Ionian Sea and there’s beach club next door – just remember it’s a steep way down, so it’s steep back up again. It’s fairly minimalist inside, keeping things breezy and cool (just what you want in the Puglian heat). The kitchen is on the rustic side. Bedrooms are simple and comfortable, and they all face the sea.

Steps to the Water

Offering a restful escape in Italy, this home is perfect for families and groups of friends. It’s spread between the main villa and a separate one-bedroom suite that’s ideal for a couple wanting their own space. Lush gardens full of plants surround the home, with sun loungers and an outdoor shower. Best of all, there are two swimming pools, one small and heated, and a larger pool with a diving board. A covered terrace with a table and barbecue makes dining alfresco a breeze. Inside, the decor is modern and simple – it’s a comfortable home-from-home, though guests eleven and twelve will sleep on a sofa bed.

Sublime Solitude

Perfect for a pair, this pocket-sized pearl is proof that good things come in small packages. Though the all-in-one layout won't suit everyone, it has all the basics you'll need to settle into Salento life. The kitchenette is compact but still fully functional for light bites, and there's a little grill outside for alfresco dining. And the biggest draw is the private plunge pool – ideal for afternoon dips. You'll find it tucked away on the grounds of a historic palazzo in Cannole, offering access to communal gardens and another shared pool. With Otranto, Leece, and other charming towns within driving distance, we think it's a hidden gem.

Cannole Pearl

A hidden gem in the far south of Italy's heel, this peaceful Puglian getaway is the stuff dreams are made of. Located in the enchanting village of Specchia, you're sandwiched between the Adriatic and Ionian seas, a twenty-five-minute drive from the picture-perfect azure waters and white sand of Pescoluse aka. The Maldives of Salento. Your marvellous Masseria boasts five suites divided across four units around the property, each with a private entrance. So while there's more than enough space for ten of you to gather together to relax and recharge, you're also guaranteed some much-needed privacy. The outdoor areas are where this home comes into its own – life is meant to be lived outside. Long, lazy days can be spent lounging by the stunning swimming pool set within a lush walled garden, gather together for family feasts in the shade of the pergola, and spend afternoons relaxing in the outdoor lounge. Here in Salento, the best plan is no plan at all.

Maldive del Salento

With its conical roof, this home adds a luxurious twist to the classic Apulian trullo. It also offers both seclusion and community, with three separate units connected by large social areas where your group can reunite after private moments of calm. All found within a secure gated compound, the three units each have their perks, though the converted original trullo only has room for two and may be the most popular. The standout communal areas include a gazebo that can fit a full party, and a long seat running parallel with the pool that makes for some excellent photo shoots. The city of Ostuni, a ten minute drive north, provides the perfect day trip.

White Stone Oasis

With stunning sea views from this home’s patio and roof terrace, you’ll be relaxing in no time. There’s also a shaded outdoor dining area with a barbecue, ideal for enjoying the Italian climate. Another bonus is the vegetable garden with its produce available for guests to harvest. Inside, we love the barrel-vaulted ceilings and the large living area – this place is perfect for family and friends. And with easy access to some of the best beaches in Southern Salento, the location is great too.
