This villa is in the sun-blessed and secluded Puglian countryside, nestled between the UNESCO town of Ostuni and the sea. Traditional, local style blends with modern elegance inside, creating a laid-back vibe – those vaulted ceilings are a dream. But it’s the social outdoor spaces that steal the show with spots for cooking, eating, and lounging alfresco. While there's no disputing that farming is hard work, we think it would be well worth the effort if you came home to this gorgeous stone farmhouse every day. That was the building's former life, however, and today it's the stunning setting for a Puglian getaway.

We're willing to bet that the hardest labour that a guest commits to here is a couple of lengths in the swimming pool, followed by a well-deserved rest in the hammock or underneath the verandah. When you've worked up a hunger, you can turn to the outdoor kitchen complete with a stone barbecue.

Inside, the traditional aspects, like the star-shaped stone vaults and authentic fireplaces, have been retained, but modern comforts have been tastefully added, too — the white wooden kitchen and sleek bathrooms being two prime examples.

When you're in the mood to explore, the seaside isn't too far away, with Torre Canne Beach only ten minutes' drive. The ancient pilgrimage route, Via Francigena, can be joined in five minutes' walk from the front door, while the centre of Fasano takes fifteen minutes to reach in the car.

Live Off the Land

Sitting pretty amongst century-old olive trees, this typical Apulian house is the ideal getaway to the Ostuni area. Though perfect for a romantic trip, it can sleep up to four with the additional sofa bed in the mezzanine area. Thanks to the vaulted ceilings and bright open spaces, it won't feel cramped either. And if, for some reason, it does, you can always take to the sprawling garden to stretch your legs. The shaded terrace creates the opportunity for alfresco meals, and there's a private pool too. Throw in a rooftop terrace and barbecue area, and it's obvious why we added this home to our collection. Monticelli Beach is minutes away, and so is the whitewashed town of Ostuni.

The location here is great, you’ll find a bakery 200 metres away, so that’s breakfast and lunch covered, while there’s a museum 500 metres from here. Made up of two separate villas with one large outdoor area, we think it's a great choice for families and friend groups. For an additional fee, four extra guests can be accommodated on sofa beds in the living rooms, and while the kitchenettes here are quite small, the private pool and extensive space for alfresco dining make up for the cosy interiors. We think it's worth having a car here to get the most out of your trip – you'll find some lovely villages like Cisternino nearby, and the gorgeous beaches of Torre Guaceto are a short drive away.

Even better, your host offers a complimentary guided tour of Alberobello.  What we really love is this home’s peaceful setting among ancient olive groves. The garden is a joy with its aromatic plants and fruit trees – the perfect place to truly relax or take in the sea views. Inside, you'll find more vistas and character features, such as the vaulted ceilings. The kitchen is in keeping with this home's rustic charm, but that said, it's a bit basic – it has the essentials such as a hob, oven and dishwasher, though.

In the 16th century, this home was a grand mansion. It’s since been renovated into a series of beautiful apartments, each one a splendid base for exploring historic Ostuni. This apartment features a striking domed ceiling above the mezzanine-level bedroom, and has a petite balcony where you can sip vino and watch the action of the square below. There isn't much space but it's a good fit for a couple, and we think the communal spaces – including an ancient chapel and a relaxation area – more than make up for it.

It’s not too traditional though, as it benefits from modern facilities including a private pool, alfresco dining area and functional furnishings. Located just 4km from the town of Francavilla Fontana, and 15km from Ostuni, known as 'The White City,' this home is situated to explore the region's many wonders. 



Well & Trulli Relaxed

Hidden amongst olive trees, this villa is a great base for a Puglia adventure. The outdoor spaces stand out here – the private pool is sure to be a crowd-pleaser, while the alfresco dining area and outdoor kitchen mean you'll rarely need to venture inside. The interior is pleasant, though it lacks natural light in places. And while we loved the exposed brickwork in the living area, one of the beds is here – this might prove inconvenient and makes the home more suitable for families in our eyes. Location-wise, you're well served, because not only is the coast not far away, the charming city of Ostuni is just a 3km drive.

Few places in Puglia can outshine this home's unique vantage point. It sits at the foothills of Ostuni and offers a spectacular view of the ancient whitewashed city, just twenty-two minutes away on foot. Formerly a farmstead, it's surrounded by a dramatic canvas of verdant pastures and wooded slopes for as far as the eye can see, offering a delightfully peaceful base for families and large groups.

From the outset, this home impresses with its gloriously green scenery and stately stone facade. The interior strikes the perfect balance between authentic charm and contemporary comfort, and you'll feel like royalty as soon as you set foot in the elegant entryway. Throughout, high barrel vault ceilings, sweeping archways and heaps of natural light create a free-flowing ambience primed for relaxation.

We think at most two adults can stay here comfortably as it’s on the smaller side – the pull-out bed is definitely better suited to children. It’s not massive but it does have heaps of charm, and the kitchen window looks out over the city’s rooftops. You’ll also have access to shared facilities including a relaxation area and an ancient chapel.

Our favourite space is the main bedroom, where a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi bath is the perfect way to end the day. Just note that two bedrooms don't have air conditioning.

Nestled in the Ostuni countryside, this home provides a unique retreat surrounded by greenery. Made up of three apartments, each sleeping four people, it’s an ideal base for large groups who like to holiday together, yet still enjoy some private time. It’s worth bearing in mind that in each separate space, there’s a bedroom and the remaining two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area, but it’s a small price to pay for what this home offers. Outdoors, sun-kissed terraces, shaded alfresco dining spots and a private pool await, or you can venture into the charming whitewashed city of Ostuni for a true taste of Italy.

This ancient, light-stone property in Ostuni offers big groups exclusive use of a B&B in the centre of town. A breakfast buffet is included every day – best enjoyed at the scattering of tables on the sunny terrace – and guests have private use of the small, heated spa pool. It’s spread between a traditional trullo – built in local stone – and a separate building for two, which is ideal for a couple seeking a bit more privacy. There’s plenty of space outside for everyone to spend time together, with a private infinity pool, garden, and a gazebo that houses an outdoor kitchen. We love the rooftop terrace and its sweeping views of the surrounding olive groves.
