It's well-placed to explore Capri's landmarks – the Gardens of Augustus and Krupp Street are both easily reached on foot – and you'll find plenty of restaurants and boutiques nearby, too. It's on the smaller side, but it's a great size for two and the artwork is quintessentially Italian. The bedroom is on the mezzanine, so there's a separate space to snuggle up after sightseeing, but the kitchenette is compact so dining out might be a good idea. For a romantic trip to one of Italy's most famous islands, this is an excellent choice.

The Art Connoisseur

Designed with rest and relaxation in mind, this villa is ideal for a family or group of friends seeking an easygoing stay. The outside space is the highlight – we loved the plunge pool, barbecue area for long, lazy dinners and views of Capri town and the Tyrrhenian Sea. While the interior design may read as dated to some, we think it’s unfussy, and although the kitchen is better suited to light bites, there is a fantastic selection of restaurants a short drive away. Keen to hit the beach? Marina Grande is your closest.

This charming Italian villa is nestled on a pedestrian-only street on the coast of Capri. Although it's dated in terms of decor, we love the location of this home –  it's minutes away from the small but fashionable Piazzetta and boasts wonderful views across the Tyrrhenian Sea. Evenings spent dining on the private terrace go some way towards making up for the basic interiors of this property. Like a lot of places on this island, it can only be reached via a long flight of stairs – so may not be suitable for individuals with reduced mobility. We also strongly suggest booking a porter service in advance, to help carry your luggage to and from the villa.

The interior is chic and elegant, with playful splashes of colour that give it a 60s vibe – we love the kitchen in particular. It has everything you might need for a relaxing break, including a dreamy terrace boasting fabulous sea views. There’s no better spot in Marina Piccola for soaking up the sun with a pre-dinner cocktail.

As much as we love the Caprese character indoors – think blue and white tiles, exposed stone, and large windows showing off the scenery – it's the outdoor space that really packs a punch. For days at the beach, you need only drive four minutes to Marina Piccola, and you can easily walk into Capri’s main square for meals out and shopping.
