The bathtub in the living area takes some getting used to, but you can't deny that its panoramas are fantastic, especially the glimpse of Capri. Nestled within a lemon orchard, this stunning villa is practically hanging off the side of the Amalfi Coast. On the villa’s stepped terraces, the citrus scent of fresh lemons combines with sea salt as you enjoy uninterrupted views over the azure Tyrrhenian Sea. Walkways shaded by twisting grapevines, magenta bougainvillaea and wisteria bursting in purple clouds give way to panoramic views. You’ll find endless secluded spots for dining outdoors, or lounging in the sun. Inside, we were really taken by the hand-painted tiles in every room, bursting with blues, yellows and greens, and the hand-painted details like the decal in the shower, that feel distinctly Amalfi. Rather than facing the TV, the living room’s sofa points directly at the French windows and that incredible sea view and both main bedrooms have their own French windows for a view all to yourself. From the villa, it’s a short walk to the beach at the bottom of Maiori. Here, you can join the coastal walking path that links all the quintessentially Amalfi Coast villages. Or, head out in the car to the town of Amalfi, a fifteen-minute drive away.

After a slap-up seafood dinner by the water, return to your abode to watch the sky swirl in pinks and purples as you sip an Aperol spritz.

The interiors are a little basic for our liking, but it's modern and there's a dedicated workspace. Plus, the freestanding tub is the perfect place to relax after busy days spent travelling.

The home itself is understated in the best possible way. Devoid of any over-the-top or flashy fixtures and fittings, it exudes an easy charm that's perfectly in keeping with its surroundings and the archetypal aesthetics of this part of Italy. Think terracotta tiles, majolica bathrooms, exposed stone and wood beam detailing, and expert placement of fine antiques alongside simpler modern pieces that fulfil a function, and ornate wrought iron balustrades. 

The first of the two apartments, sleeping up to four people in the double bed and on the sofabed in the living area, a fully-equipped kitchen with a spellbinding sea view, and two bathrooms (one en-suite and one separate). After a leisurely morning, head off to explore the town. A less beaten path than its neighbouring town of Positano, this is the place to be if you're looking for authentic Italian appeal. If you're seeking out some of the Amalfi Coast's best nature spots, make sure you add a hike on the 'Path of the Gods' to your itinerary, considered by many to be the best hiking trail in the area thanks to sweeping mountain views of the Mediterranean.

After a day of exploring, head home to relax in the outdoor hot tub, before indulging in a laid-back dinner cooked on the barbecue.

However, it's the outdoor terrace that steals the limelight. Shared between the apartment's two suites, there's more than enough space for everyone to spread out and claim a corner for themselves. Our favourite spot is the terrace, where a glass of wine complements the panoramas perfectly. There's also a private Jacuzzi that makes soaking under the stars a real treat. The interior design is simple but chic, though the main bedroom doesn't feel particularly private. And, while the kitchen is on the smaller side, you'll only be a five-minute walk from the eateries in Amalfi. That's pretty hard to beat.

This Italian villa grabbed our attention for its front-row location on the Amalfi coast. You can enjoy spectacular sea views from the garden, balconies, and terraces, and you also have direct access to a private beach. Your host can provide breakfast to begin the day at a leisurely pace, and if you’re travelling with children, babysitter recommendations are available. There are lots of stairs to climb here, including a spiral staircase in the home, steep steps in the terraced garden, and steps to the private beach, so it won’t suit everyone. Location-wise, you’re in the pretty village of Conca dei Marini with many picturesque coastal towns, including popular Amalfi, within easy driving distance.

In the sun-soaked village of Positano, this studio apartment is a peaceful idyll within walking distance of the lively shores of Positano Beach. Inside, it’s all crisp white and cobalt blue. Unwind on the loveseat with a cappuccino, basking in a salty breeze that drifts through the Juliet balcony doors. Put together a Caprese salad at the kitchenette then tuck in at the dining table. When you’re ready to explore, slather on your sunscreen and take a gentle stroll through the pastel-hued streets.
