Looking for a Florence bolthole that's as unique as it is central? This Santa Croce district apartment, set in a fresco-adorned palazzo and within walking distance of all the must-see sights, is spot-on. With ceilings soaring nearly six metres high in the open-plan living and bedroom space, and a mezzanine level providing access to an additional single bedroom and bathroom, the layout is a tad quirky. But we think this only adds to the charm. It’s worth noting that the kitchen is on the small side and better suited to lighter meals and breakfast. But with so many traditional Florentine restaurants just around the corner in the Santa Croce Piazza, we suspect you’ll be eating out alot. 

The Frescoed Palace

For a city centre location, this home is in a quiet spot. Yet you’re just a few minutes’ stroll from Piazzale Michelangelo, with its amazing views over Florence, and a ten-minute walk from picturesque Ponte Vecchio. The sleeping arrangements here won’t suit everyone – bedroom two has a sofa bed, and at full capacity, guests five and six will be on the sofa bed in the living area – but we think the location of this home makes it a great find for a family or group of friends.

Forever Florence

Step into centuries of Florentine elegance in this unique apartment set within a prestigious palace in the heart of Oltrarno. Built around 1470,  every room tells a story, with grand frescoes, soaring ceilings and antique furnishings. Three lavish living areas, a formal dining room, and richly decorated bedrooms offer a truly regal experience. You’ll even enter through a majestic inner courtyard adorned with statues. While the kitchen and bathrooms feel compact and dated compared to the grandeur elsewhere, they serve their purpose – and you’re unlikely to mind. After all, it’s not every day you wake up surrounded by history, art and architecture this spectacular. This is a one-of-a-kind stay you won’t forget.

Palatial Grandeur 

Ideal for large groups, this home comprises two combined apartments. There’s plenty of space, with two living and dining rooms, three kitchens, and a spectacular roof terrace. You can soak up the sun on the terrace while drinking in stunning 360º views of Florence. This home is in the Santa Croce district, a ten-minute walk from the iconic Duomo, and with restaurants, trattorias, and shops within easy reach. You’ll also be just a few steps from the Sant’Ambrogio market, where you can stock up on fresh produce and top-notch ingredients. 

Florentine Flush

At this home, you won't have to walk far to see Florence's best sights. Situated in a historic apartment building on the Via Sant'Egidio, you can wake up and be at the Duomo within minutes – ideal if you'd prefer to avoid the crowds. This cosy apartment preserves traditional features such as the original wooden doors and exposed stone, while vintage-style furnishings add to the comfortable atmosphere. There's even a walk-in wardrobe – but you may want to be careful about bringing too much luggage, as there's no lift in the building. With restaurants, bars, and galleries just a short walk away, this home is perfect for immersing yourself in city life.

Dante's Circle

Located in one of the most magical parts of Florence right by the Arno, this apartment opens its doors to a stylish Italian getaway. The owners have crafted a calm city sanctuary with space to stretch out, unwind or catch up on work. We love the clean lines, neutral tones, and pops of colour – it all feels very contemporary and sophisticated. Outside, private parking is a big perk if you're travelling by car. You can also stroll to restaurants, cafes, and local farmers' markets. Keen to visit the landmarks? It’s just a twenty-minute walk to iconic sights like Florence Cathedral as well as museums.

Santo Spirito Style

Located in the historic district of San Lorenzo, this home is ideally situated to experience Florence, and immerse yourself in the medieval streets as you wander the area. Start each morning here with a cappuccino and frittata breakfast, enjoyed alfresco on the terrace area on warmer days. 

Then, head out for a day of exploring and visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore or the Duomo – both only a short six-minute walk away, or take in some art at the Uffizi Gallery – reachable in thirteen minutes on foot.  

The street adjacent to this home is perfect for lunches, dinners and shopping, with many restaurants, trattorias, cafes and shops reachable in just one minute on foot. Plus, the main city market is also only a one-minute walk away, providing the perfect shop for picking up some produce to cook at home. Why not also go on an Italian wine tasting – which can be reached in as little as one minute on foot – and choose your favourite tipple to take home and enjoy with your authentic Italian pizza outside in the courtyard.

The Boboli Terrace

Sitting pretty near the banks of the River Arno, this top-floor apartment enjoys spellbinding views over Florence. You can soak them up from whichever terrace takes your fancy – there are two to choose from here – but there’s only enough space for a couple of people on each, so make sure to choose your cocktail companion wisely. Inside, though, there’s plenty of space to get together as a group with sofa beds offering flexible sleeping arrangements. There’s a dedicated desk in the study too – perfect for writing your postcards back home, or if you really must, catching up on work. 

Florence Love

If you're looking for a central Florentine home that oozes Italian charm, this is it. And as a bonus, it boasts uninterrupted views of the famous Pitti Palace, sitting directly across from the magnificent structure. This characterful abode has been masterfully restored, seamlessly marrying original features with design-led touches. Shuttered windows, hardwood floors and whitewashed ceiling beams create an elegant aesthetic, complemented with tasteful antiques and plush soft furnishings.

Whichever double bedroom you choose, you'll be given the premium treatment. Comfort has been given the top priority here, followed closely by the restful colour scheme of off-white, soft greys and jewel-toned accents. We think the deep teal wallpaper adds a boutique feel to the space.

From this location, you won't struggle to tick Florence's must-see sights off your itinerary. Piazza della Signoria, considered the city's heart, is just a short hop across the river, while the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fior is just a thirteen-minute walk away. Immediately on your doorstep, an array of buzzy bars and traditional restaurants invites you to savour the very best of local cuisine. We'd suggest a light breakfast so you can load up on the pasta and pizza come dinnertime.

Pitti Pad

Wow, were the words we uttered when we walked into the living room of this home and saw the stunning views of the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and River Arno. The vistas are even better from the balcony – it's the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and the Florentine skyline. Housed in a beautiful building, this recently renovated, elegant apartment is a lovely place to spend time in with its designer sofa, marble fireplace and gorgeous herringbone patterned wood floors.

If you want to explore what you can see from this home, it's around a thirty-second stroll to Ponte Vecchio, while the Uffizi Gallery is a four-minute walk. It's the same walking distance to Palazzo Pitti, one of Florence's largest architectural monuments. Other attractions nearby include the Strozzi Palace, which is eight minutes on foot. This home is ideal for two couples, a group of friends or a family wanting to be within walking distance of this glorious city's treasures.
