You couldn't ask for a better location, less than a twenty-minute stroll from the Duomo and the famous Piazzale Michelangelo viewpoint and even closer to the Pitti Palace's museums and gardens. 

The interior is warm and inviting, striking the perfect balance between authentic charm and contemporary comfort. We especially love the open-plan living space, primed for relaxation with a compact yet equipped kitchen, a large dining table, a cosy lounge and a majestic fireplace. Perched on the second floor, it feels delightfully peaceful despite its central location and offers beautiful views from its large shuttered windows. After a day of adventure, enjoy a glass of wine while admiring your scenic surroundings before slipping out for your reservation at one of the many eateries nearby.

Wow, were the words we uttered when we walked into the living room of this home and saw the stunning views of the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and River Arno. The vistas are even better from the balcony – it's the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and the Florentine skyline. Housed in a beautiful building, this recently renovated, elegant apartment is a lovely place to spend time in with its designer sofa, marble fireplace and gorgeous herringbone patterned wood floors.

If you want to explore what you can see from this home, it's around a thirty-second stroll to Ponte Vecchio, while the Uffizi Gallery is a four-minute walk. It's the same walking distance to Palazzo Pitti, one of Florence's largest architectural monuments. Other attractions nearby include the Strozzi Palace, which is eight minutes on foot. This home is ideal for two couples, a group of friends or a family wanting to be within walking distance of this glorious city's treasures.

When we came across this quaint apartment, we did a double-take. While it may be a bit old-school in style, it has lots of charm for a city stay. Set on the third floor, with a private balcony overlooking the rooftops of Florence, there's no lack of character here – that being said, it may feel a little dated in parts. And, while the bedrooms are semi-open, limiting privacy, its location in the historic district makes it a good choice for those keen to be close to the action.

You can also stroll to restaurants, cafes, and local farmers' markets. Keen to visit the landmarks? It’s just a twenty-minute walk to iconic sights like Florence Cathedral as well as museums.

Santo Spirito Style

This elegant Florence home delivers on both style and location. Set in the historic centre, you’re five minutes on foot from the Galleria dell’Accademia and ten to the majestic Duomo – a spot-on base for exploring. Despite the building’s heritage charm (don't get us started on those magnificent gabled ceilings), the apartment is surprisingly practical. Each generously proportioned bedroom has a separate shower room – so there’s no need to tussle for the best room here. All that said, there are a few things to note here. The kitchen is on the compact side, and the apartment building has no lift, so be prepared to climb some stairs. But for a home delivering on so much else, we'll let that slide.

The floor-to-ceiling windows in the living space look directly out onto the River Arno and the famous Ponte Vecchio – an outstanding feat of engineering from Europe’s Middle Ages. You’re that close, you can hear the water rushing underneath the stone from your private balcony. The interiors are modest but comfortable and do well not to distract you from the fantastic vistas. Set up a traditional Italian breakfast at the dining table and watch daybreak over the water, then finish your coffee on the comfy couch as you put the finishing touches to your Florentine checklist. Take the short, ten-minute stroll across the bridge to the heart of the city where the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Bargello National Museum are an afternoon well spent. Enjoy a pit stop in the bustling Piazza della Repubblica before continuing on to the Accademia Gallery, the proud home of Michelangelo’s David.

Footsteps from the train station, this apartment sits between the red-roofed buildings and ancient churches of Florence’s centre. It’s styled for the perfect escape to a historic and culture-filled city with darkwood, wrought iron and chandeliers grabbing your attention. We adore the ceiling motif – layers of old parchments and book pages with a clutter of bric-a-brac, as though somebody raided one of the city’s museum store room and fixed the contents to the old wood beams. Then there are the 16th-century frescoes that have been restored, and the kitchen made from old medieval doors. A second kitchen downstairs is all sleek modernity, but the upstairs bedrooms embrace the old world with velvet and hand-painted headboards. 

All of Florence is on your doorstep here, with Piazza della Signoria two steps away and the ancient streets leading to the central Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in ten minutes on foot.

It’s easy to see why this apartment made our collection. Take a look at the stunning vistas over the River Arno and the Ponte Vecchio from the two Juliet balconies here. But this place isn’t all about the view – the sophisticated interiors are a highlight, too. Each bedroom has a luxury Italian marble en-suite bathroom as well. And as for the location, well, this home is 30 metres from Ponte Vecchio, and you’ll have cafes and restaurants literally on your doorstep.

The Lights of Florence

Apex has so many things going for it that focussing on the specifics seems unfair. Needless to say that everything in the flat is of the highest quality, whether that’s the carrara marble in the bathroom, or the four-poster bed. In fact it’s the bedrooms (or three of them anyway) that make the biggest impression. They’re what you might imagine from a seventeenth-century noble mansion, and while obviously all these things are personal preferences, they make for a seriously good night’s sleep.

We were sold on this Florentine apartment's private terrace alone – and that was before we'd even clapped eyes on the lofted living space. While both double bedrooms are charming, the last guest will have to make do with a sofa bed in the lounge, which is overlooked by the loft bedroom balcony above. So, while it's an impressive feature, it's not the most private space. Set in the characterful Santa Croce district, you're set back from the tourist traps immediately around the Duomo yet within easy walking distance of the must-see sights. Get off to a flying start at Piazza Santa Croce – it's just around the corner.

Renaissance Hideaway

Ideally located just a two-minute walk from the famous Uffizi Gallery, this modern apartment puts you in a prime position to discover Florence’s most celebrated sights.

What you might have to worry about is how to get all the souvenirs you’ll undoubtedly buy while staying in this enticing retail district into your suitcase. Or which wine to serve with the delicious pasta dish you're serving your friends from the well-equipped kitchen. Decorated in neutral tones and with hints of history in the original brickwork, this is a serene place to return after you’ve just popped out to some of the world famous landmarks that are right on your doorstep.

Practically neighbouring the Duomo, this stylish apartment gets top marks for location. The cathedral is moments away – the red dome literally looms over the street outside – while other must-see landmarks like the Uffizi Galleries and Galleria dell'Accademia are easily reached on foot. We love the design back home – think white-washed beams, a contemporary living space with plenty of room to spread out, and a cosy lofted bedroom. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the lounge area so it won’t be the most private of spaces, but with a breakfast bar and dining table in the mix, we think there’s enough room for everyone.
