Will it be dinner and drinks in nearby Cetona, or a day trip to the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia? Whatever your plans, this is a perfect pad for seeing more of Tuscany.

Warm Sunlight

You can watch the stunning sunsets from this stone farmhouse in the Umbrian hills. Take in the views of the surrounding valleys from the private pool, garden and balcony – wonderful memories with family and friends are sure to be created here. The accommodation, set over three floors, is split between the main house and an annexe which has two more bedrooms and and a kitchen area. Another highlight is the location – it’s only 12 kilometres from the historical centre of Todi, with its medieval buildings, piazzas, palaces and Roman relics.

An Umbrian Rhapsody

Secluded in the Tuscan countryside, this villa is surrounded by acres of unspoiled hills and scenery. But as alluring as the views are, there more to this charming stone home than just that. Fitness fiends will be happy to find a gym and private tennis court here to keep them active. There's also a hot tub and sauna for those who'd prefer a more leisurely approach to their holiday. Rome and Florence can be reached by high-speed rail, or drive to cities closer to home, like Orvieto.

With its backdrop of rolling hills and its flourish of flowers signposting your welcome, this stone villa on the outskirts of Cetona in Tuscany is a vision of rural relaxation waiting to show you just how delicious slow living can be. Il Pozzo

Formerly a monastery, this villa boasts traditional features, acres of olive groves, and breathtaking views. It's perched on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, just a five-minute drive from the storybook town of Città della Pieve. Panoramas spanning the Umbrian hills to the Val di Chiana are sure to impress – they're the perfect backdrop for dips in the pool, sundowners on the terrace, and meals under the stars. Inside, expect a fusion of classic and contemporary elements – we're particularly fond of the modern kitchen set under vaulted ceilings. Three bedrooms are in the main house, with a fourth in the independent annexe that's ideal for those craving a bit more privacy.

There are hiking and cycling trails through the surrounding vineyards, making this an excellent base for outdoorsy travellers. Orvieto, with its winding medieval streets and Gothic cathedral, is just fifteen minutes away, perfect for a day-trip or a meal out. The villa is traditional, with beamed ceilings and terracotta-tiled floors. A grand feature staircase leads from the open-plan living space to the bedrooms, which are comfortable enough to rival a hotel’s. Outside, you'll have a private pool and a barbecue for alfresco dining in stunning surrounds.

This home is just majestic as its stunning countryside surroundings. It's ideally located in a peaceful spot, nestled among the rolling hills of Umbria, just a short drive from the fascinating medieval town of Bevagna. Surrounding the villa sits groves of olive trees and lush green vineyards, with Mount Subasio creating a heavenly backdrop to the idyllic countryside views. These are best enjoyed with a cocktail in hand while relaxing by the infinity pool, or while dining at sunset on the covered terrace. The interiors are just as elegant, with traditional touches together with modern luxuries, such as the private massage room.

The Olive Courtyard

Book lovers will feel right at home here, with a huge selection of books to snuggle up on the sofa with. We recommend bringing your children here as there is also a ton of charming children's books to entertain your little ones. There's plenty of floor space for the children to play with toys that are provided by the host, as well as a cosy mezzanine bedroom space for a quick nap on the futon. The wooden beams add a rustic vibe, combined with the minimalistic yet colourful designs throughout the home.

Head out to explore more of Assisi and tuck into some authentic Italian meals – maybe with a lush glass of red if that tickles your fancy. Get your feet moving at the Via di Francesco hiking area – we absolutely love the view that you get from this spot. 

Return home to relax on the terrace to watch the sunset behind the flurry of trees, with a novel on your lap. Avid readers will thrive at this home, and may even find some hidden gems on the bookshelf.
