We love this location not only for its beauty but for its practicality – you'll want a car for ease of getting around, but it's only a two-minute drive to the nearest restaurants and shops.

Within walking distance of Lake Como, the sandy shores of Molo di Sotto beach, and a plethora of shops and Italian eateries, there’s plenty to occupy your time here.

To say the views of Lake Como seen from this apartment are remarkable is an understatement. It’s a panorama best admired from the private wraparound balcony or the complex's shared poolside. Inside, the open-plan living and kitchen isn’t the most palatial, and that canary yellow bedroom might be too perky for some. That said, it’s all beautifully cared for and perfect for a small family sharing. Nestled in the quaint village of Perledo, you’ve got all of Lake Como’s best bits within easy reach, starting with Varenna, just a short drive away. Or hop on the nearby ferry to other hotspots including Lecco, Bergamo, and Milan.

While the fuss-free interiors aren't the most exciting, we think this is a practical option for families and friends. The balcony is a lovely spot to relax with a glass of wine – even if it's overlooked a bit by neighbours – and the kitchen is a decent size if you want to prepare meals at home. With the double sofa bed in use, space will be tight, so we think it's best suited for four.

Here, you're in a prime location for exploring the region, with Downtown Como a thirty-minute drive away. Closer to home, take a twenty-minute stroll to Villa del Balbianello and admire its stunning terraced gardens.

Though compact, this home promises comfort through thoughtful design and contemporary decor. Inside, a timeless canvas of white walls, hardwood floors and heaps of natural light create a peaceful and inviting ambience, beckoning you to relax in the splendour of your surroundings. This elegant historic villa stands on the shores of Lake Como, just a short drive from Bellagio. The fantastic lakeside location makes it perfect for exploring, whether by private boat or using public ferries. The villa is spread over three floors, with plenty of space for a large group – there’s even a sauna and a games room. We love the private pool, which sits amid the centuries-old trees of the pretty gardens. When the sun starts to lower in the sky, fire up the barbecue and feast alfresco looking out at the lake. Bliss. 

The Dream Castle

If you want the best of Lake Como at your feet, this Bellano historic centre gem wins hands down. The apartment is mere steps from the lakeside squares for people watching and sundowners, and when it's time to head upstream to Menaggio, Bellagio, and beyond, the ferry port is just 200 metres from your door. Back home, the handsome palazzo exteriors make all the right first impressions. It's worth noting that if six of you share, the last two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living area. There's also no outdoor space to speak of here. But the views of Bellano's rooftops and church tower from the bedroom are a lovely touch.

We defy anyone to look through this home's photos and not feel instantly at ease. It's something to do with the ample amounts of space, cleansing white walls and large arched windows that look out over rooftops and also flood the interior with sunshine.

The design is definitely sparse, although we think there are enough personal touches to ward off accusations of anonymity. The floral-style lampshade in the bedroom is eye-catching and we also like the vintage travel adverts hanging in frames on the wall.

However, don't be surprised if you don't actually spend all too much time in the apartment. The home's position in the Mezzegra region is simply gorgeous, helped by the fact that the banks of Lake Como can be reached in five minutes' walk. Villa del Balbianello takes forty-five minutes to reach on foot, while you catch a ferry to the town of Bellagio in just over an hour.

White Negroni

Petite and pretty, you'll find this home right on the edge of Lake Como, near the centre of Tremezzo. It's ideal for couples or very small families who are looking for some peace and quiet to enjoy this idyllic corner of Italy. 

The kitchen is ready for you to whip up some delicious meals, or simply arrange some antipasti, depending on what you feel like. Mix an Aperol Spritz and head out to the patio to enjoy your apperitif in the fresh air with a view of the lake – your host will even provide comfortable deckchairs and tables. If you need to catch up on emails then there's a dedicated workspace, and at the end of the day you'll love curling up in the perfect pink bedroom. 

You can walk to the centre of Tremezzo and the famous Villa Carlotta in only eight minutes from here, and you're also close to Scalo di Villa Carlotta ferry landing, which can take you around the lake to several points of interest. Plus, the city centre of Como is around a forty-minute drive away – visit the cathedral and wander along the promenade before you hop on the funicular railway for an excellent view.

Welcome to this luxurious home in the hills above Sala Comacina. We love the 180-degree views of Lake Como from the terrace, infinity pool and hot tub. There’s an inner courtyard filled with fragrant jasmine and Italian herbs off the kitchen too. You can also take in the vistas from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the split-level open-plan living space and the bedrooms which all have en-suites. When you want to explore, Ossuccio with its pretty pastel houses is nearby. Stay here and you’re sure to create unforgettable memories.

The views of Lake Como from this home are simply gorgeous – we could sit on the balcony here gazing out over the gently rippling water to the mountains for hours. You can enjoy the incredible vistas from the terrace too, where you can relax on the sun loungers or dine alfresco. Whip up some tortelli di zucca in the sleek, dove grey kitchen for dinner. On chilly evenings gather around the fire or get some rest in the stylish bedrooms with their ornate wallpaper. 

Situated in Argegno, there are a range of eateries within a five-minute walk. Further afield, the alpine city of Lecco, with its splendid Basilica di San Nicolò, is eleven minutes in the car. Or walk the trails of the stunning Monte Barro Regional Park, a sixteen-minute drive from this lovely home.

If you’re not using your own boat, the ferry jetty is a three-minute walk from the villa, ready to whisk you to the lakeside delights of Bellagio or Varenna for the day. Or, stick around in the peaceful village of Sala Comacina, with its lakeside lido and handful of local restaurants.

The villa’s outdoor space is, quite simply, stunning. A panoramic view of the azure lake, flanked by rich green mountains is on offer from every lawn lounger, parasol-shaded dining table and covered veranda. Perhaps the best spot to take in the vista is from the comfort of the bubbling hot tub. 

Picture-frame windows inside mean you don’t miss out on Lake Como views in the bedrooms either. Glass French doors and a wall of windows open the opulent living room out to the covered veranda, blending indoors with outdoors. An old stone fireplace can keep the place cosy in the cooler months and a marble-style floor keeps things cool underfoot. In raw light-wood, the kitchen feels Scandi-chic and there’s plenty of room in here to cook and dine comfortably. We particularly love the wooden beams still on display in the huge master bedroom.

Set across three floors, the rooms are ideal for families and groups in search of character and simple charm. There are two living rooms and each of the bedrooms comes with an en-suite bathroom and beautiful views. Outside, the terrace makes it easy to enjoy social gatherings and you’ll find plenty to explore in the surroundings. Take a stroll through Lenno or adventure further afield towards Tremezzo and Argegno.  


Beauty of Venus

In the mountainous peninsula between the two “legs” of Lake Como, this villa sits in splendid isolation. Manicured gardens surround the traditionally ochre-hued villa where towering trees hide secret swings, picnic benches and even a spot for badminton. There’s a patio for dining in the sunshine and here you’ll hear nothing but the cheep and pip of birdsong. 

An ivy-covered front and typically green-shuttered windows greet you at the end of a long driveway. Inside, terracotta floors keep things cool underfoot and wooden ceilings are reminiscent of the old world. A huge stone fireplace crowns the main lounge, complete with the villa’s old family crest. There are plenty of seating nooks tucked away in this home to hide with a good book. Chefs will love the traditionally Italian kitchen, which has been upgraded from its farmhouse days with granite worktops, but you can still feels the bones of the old kitchen in the wood-topped hearth (now home to a microwave and working bread oven). 

Dining can be a formal affair in the separate dining room, illuminated by a medieval-looking candelabra, or a casual breakfast just off the kitchen.

In terms of location, you’re secluded away between the mountains, but the shore of Lake Como is a short drive. Head to Bellagio, where cobbled streets lead to the lake shore and water taxis head out onto the water – it’s just a ten-minute drive away.
