This painter's home is a delight for lovers of art and antiques. It's actually made up of two individual houses, one with a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, and the other with three double bedrooms. You can spend mornings painting in the studio, afternoons cooling off in the pool, and evenings dining at the indoor or outdoor dining tables. Don't feel like cooking? The local trattoria delivers fresh, authentic meals. The location is perfect for joining local hiking routes, touring vineyards and visiting Piedmontese villages like Acqui Terme, which is only a fifteen-minute drive away.

Foodie's Paradise

This home has a particularly impressive location. It's nestled within not one, but two UNESCO World Heritage sites – the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont and the Sacred Mountains of Piedmont and Lombardy. And, with 17 hectares of land surrounding the house, and several rare white truffle trees, there's no denying this is a special spot. 

Much of the house dates back to the 19th century, with an even older Medieval section inside, and there's a sense of history in every corner. However, that's not to say that it's old-fashioned – the host has carefully selected a fresh colour scheme and provided plenty of modern conveniences to enjoy. Fire up the coffee machine and sip your morning espresso on the balcony, before grabbing your book and picking a sun lounger to catch some rays. When the temperature rises, simply slip into the swimming pool and float under the blue sky, or head for some shade under the portico. 

Walkers will be delighted with the range of hiking trails throughout this region, which guarantee incredible views of the luscious landscape. Wine lovers are also well catered for, with several nearby vineyards where you can try the local vintages. There are several charming villages within driving distance, and if you're visiting during the right time of year then you might have the chance to join one of the region's most unique traditions – a truffle hunt. 

White Truffle Season

It's hidden amongst the verdant forestry, away from the sounds of urban life and busy streets. Wake up and feel completely refreshed, ready for a relaxing day amongst the natural beauty of your surroundings.

Spend your days lazing around the garden, catching some gentle rays from the sun whilst you read a book. The shared terrace is a paradisal spot for sunrise or to settle down into the romance of sunset. Grab a bottle of wine from the local shop to enhance the magic of the moment.

If you're up for exploring a little further, the charming town of Cortazzone is just a three-minute drive away. Here, you'll find welcoming cafes and authentically Italian restaurants. Try the freshly-cooked pasta or pizza before wandering the town with gelato in hand.

The Softest Breeze

This grand old villa has all the charm of yesteryear, plus a swimming pool practically grazing the treetops. Between Turin and Milan, in the Piedmont countryside, the grounds are flanked by hills and surrounded by forest. You can enjoy a quiet, rural location yet it’s just a fifteen-minute drive into the centre of Asti, known as the City of 100 towers in its medieval heart. Perhaps pick up a bottle of chilled, sparkling Asti and bring it back to enjoy on the terrace of your grand, Italian country home. There’s an outdoor dining table on the swimming pool terrace that overlooks the forest just begging for an evening tipple, or perhaps a barbecue dinner if you’ve been truffle hunting in the area. Inside, it’s the careful renovation of the home’s original features that really make this place stand out. Hand-painted frescoes on walls, corniced ceilings like the icing on a wedding cake and vintage mosaic tiles underfoot. Exposed brick in the kitchen gives a rustic feel, alongside the old hearth turned sink. On the first floor, a huge barn-like room with arched floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the forest is the perfect place for a family celebration. 

Vino Spumante

This apartment is right in the centre of the coastal town of Riva Ligure. It has a sea view and direct access to the beach, so you’re basically steps from the water. You’ve got a grocery store, supermarket, and restaurants just a couple of minutes away, so everything’s easy to reach on foot. Inside, there's a shabby-chic vibe, with a small kitchenette for easy meals and a sofa bed in the living room if you’re staying as a group. There’s also a private balcony where you can sit in the sun and take in the ocean view.

Shoreline Balcony

This renovated farmhouse caught our eye for its huge garden. Boasting a private pool, covered alfresco dining area, and outdoor hob and barbeque, outdoor living is easy here. The bedroom set up won’t suit everyone – at full occupancy three guests will be sleeping on sofa beds within two of the bedrooms – and the traditional decor won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but we think this home will suit a family or group of friends looking for a place with character. Location-wise, you’re a few minutes’ drive from the Royal Castle of Racconigi – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for daytrips, the city of Turin is thirty minutes away.

The Ancient Farmhouse

This villa in Monteu Roero is a real countryside escape. The garden has something for everyone, with a private pool framing the view, a children’s play area, outdoor games, and a wood-fired pizza oven for outdoor dinners. Inside, the home combines rustic charm with sustainability, featuring solar power and certified parquet flooring. At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on sofa beds in two of the bedrooms, but it’s worth it for the setting. Local trattorias are within walking distance, and you're also just five minutes in the car from the village, a short drive from the towns of Alba and Bra, and less than an hour from Turin.

Rolling Hills Haven

Sometimes you want your holidays to be all about peace, quiet, and relaxation. This is the perfect home for that, far away from touristy hotspots, in a quiet rural location in Piedmont. You can live as the locals do here, and embrace the slower pace of life. 

This lovely home can be found just outside of Cortazzone, on a sunny hilltop. Drive five minutes into town to meander through the streets and grab a coffee in a cafe. Watch the world go by before picking up local produce for dinner and heading back to your home from home. 

Cook up a feast in the kitchen and dine together, then take a bottle of red out to the terrace. Sip wine as you watch the sun set over the meadows and vineyards that surround the home. If it turns chilly, move inside to sit by the fireplace – this is a home for simple pleasures. 

Though you’re nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle here, you’re not too far from the action. Turin is just a fifty-six-minute drive away, so you can easily get your fix of city life. Make a day of it, and spend your time strolling along the boulevards lined with baroque buildings, admiring the architecture, and sampling some of the world-famous cuisine. 


Teal Shutters

You'll find that there's an innate tranquillity to this home in the middle of the Piedmont countryside. How best to enjoy this peace and quiet? Well, the swimming pool will be the obvious choice during the warmer months, but there are plenty of equally pleasant spots out in the garden or under the pergola.

If the temperature ever takes a dip at any point, the table in the conservatory still gives you the opportunity to watch the world go by, while there's also an open-hearth fireplace to light up once the sun's gone down. This rather traditional source of warmth is in keeping with the home's rustic style, as seen with the exposed stonework and country-style kitchen.

Although you're more than welcome to never leave the address during your stay, the closest town, Vesime, takes five minutes to reach in the car and offers an outdoor swimming pool and a castle to explore. The city of Acqui Terme is half an hour's drive, too.

What The Heart Wants

Over the truffle hills and far away rests this Monferrato villa, surrounded by the stunning Italian countryside, extensive vineyards and a treasure trove of truffles. Brimming with character and aesthetics, the villa's interior is just as charming. Warm colours are in keeping with the Monferrato landscape, and classic designs combined with modern elements create a truly magical space beyond the realms of the average norm. 

Take in breathtaking views over the property's park and distant vineyards from the large living room and bedroom windows; here, you'll see that Mother Nature works hard to stay vibrant, whatever the weather. From the games room to the home study, library and lounging areas, finding a quiet corner for taking precious moments of solitude or fun-filled socialising couldn't be easier. Meanwhile, with so many perching spots inside and out in the garden, you'll find plenty of opportunities to unplug, unwind and reconnect with nature. Outside, a stone walkway leads to a large lawn area with beautiful trees and flowers, providing the perfect setting for romantic alfresco meals and refreshments in the sunshine. 

Outside, amid the 1-hectare park surrounding the villa, you'll also have access to the Club House. Here you'll find the swimming pool, a sauna, a grass tennis court (which can also be transformed into a five-a-side football pitch) and an abundance of open-air space for games, sports and activities. Just a few minutes from Fontanile, Mombaruzzo and Nizza Monferrato, enjoy the convenience of the local village amenities, shops and eateries – all within short driving distance. 

Over the Truffle Hills

Rolling hills dotted with vineyards, a sprawling garden spread out over a sloped hill and the unmistakable charm of the northern Italian countryside are all in attendance in this classic Piedmont villa. Though there’s plenty to do and see in the surrounding villages, it’ll be hard to tear yourself away from the home itself – the private swimming pool is especially inviting on a hot day, as is the promise of a charcuterie board served with Italian wine and cheese at the outdoor table in the late afternoon. Venture further afield and you can find yourself in nearby Monforte d'Alba, a gorgeous village where you can try the local Barolo wine.
