This home has a particularly impressive location. It's nestled within not one, but two UNESCO World Heritage sites – the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont and the Sacred Mountains of Piedmont and Lombardy. And, with 17 hectares of land surrounding the house, and several rare white truffle trees, there's no denying this is a special spot. 

Much of the house dates back to the 19th century, with an even older Medieval section inside, and there's a sense of history in every corner. However, that's not to say that it's old-fashioned – the host has carefully selected a fresh colour scheme and provided plenty of modern conveniences to enjoy. Fire up the coffee machine and sip your morning espresso on the balcony, before grabbing your book and picking a sun lounger to catch some rays. When the temperature rises, simply slip into the swimming pool and float under the blue sky, or head for some shade under the portico. 

Walkers will be delighted with the range of hiking trails throughout this region, which guarantee incredible views of the luscious landscape. Wine lovers are also well catered for, with several nearby vineyards where you can try the local vintages. There are several charming villages within driving distance, and if you're visiting during the right time of year then you might have the chance to join one of the region's most unique traditions – a truffle hunt.

You'll find that there's an innate tranquillity to this home in the middle of the Piedmont countryside. How best to enjoy this peace and quiet? Well, the swimming pool will be the obvious choice during the warmer months, but there are plenty of equally pleasant spots out in the garden or under the pergola.

If the temperature ever takes a dip at any point, the table in the conservatory still gives you the opportunity to watch the world go by, while there's also an open-hearth fireplace to light up once the sun's gone down. This rather traditional source of warmth is in keeping with the home's rustic style, as seen with the exposed stonework and country-style kitchen.

Although you're more than welcome to never leave the address during your stay, the closest town, Vesime, takes five minutes to reach in the car and offers an outdoor swimming pool and a castle to explore. The city of Acqui Terme is half an hour's drive, too.

This renovated farmhouse caught our eye for its huge garden. Boasting a private pool, covered alfresco dining area, and outdoor hob and barbeque, outdoor living is easy here. The bedroom set up won’t suit everyone – at full occupancy three guests will be sleeping on sofa beds within two of the bedrooms – and the traditional decor won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but we think this home will suit a family or group of friends looking for a place with character. Location-wise, you’re a few minutes’ drive from the Royal Castle of Racconigi – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for daytrips, the city of Turin is thirty minutes away.

The Ancient Farmhouse

This renovated cottage is located in the San Bernardo district of Narzole. The charming villa includes three separate apartments and is situated on top of a hill with stunning panoramic views. The property features a shared garden, a swimming pool, and outdoor amenities such as a barbecue grill and garden furniture. Guests can also take advantage of the bicycles available for use on the premises. The villa features antique furnishings and tasteful decor throughout, including large living spaces with open-hearth fireplaces and satellite TV. There are nine rooms in total, each with its own shower/WC. The property comprises three apartments and is situated in the countryside, 6 km from the centre of Narzole, 3 km from the centre of Bene Vagienna and 10 km from the centre of Cherasco. The cottage offers a large living/dining room with an open-hearth fireplace, satellite TV and antique furnishings. There is also a spacious kitchen with all necessary amenities, including an oven, dishwasher and electric coffee machine. The upper floor has three bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, while the lower floor has one bedroom with a double bed and en-suite bathroom. The property is detached and sits on top of a hill, offering beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Its private garden is well-maintained and features a wildlife garden, trees, courtyard, and a swimming pool (seasonal availability: May to October). The house has three levels and 10 rooms with comfortable furnishings, including an open kitchen, living/dining room with fireplace, four double bedrooms on the upper floor, and three double bedrooms on the top floor. Other amenities include air conditioning, gas heating, internet access, washing machine, dryer, children's high chair, and baby cot. Please note that when there are fewer guests staying at the property than the maximum number allowed, one floor will not be available for use.
