Base yourself along the Sardinian coast at this smart apartment set in the authentic port town of Olbia. While the sea-facing balcony overlooking the island of Tavolara and the Gulf of Olbia is impressive, it's important to note that this home has no kitchen or living area. But with the best of Olbia's restaurants just a short walk away for the freshest seafood imaginable, we suspect you'll eat out a lot anyway. And there's an all-important coffee pod machine to kick-start your day. Fancy a beach day? There are miles of uncrowded sandy coves just a short drive up the coast.

Olive Breeze

We love the uninterrupted bucolic views from this contemporary home on the outskirts of Porto Vecchio. The location gives you the best of both worlds —you're within easy reach of Corsica’s answer to St. Tropez (it’s a 10-minute walk to the edge of town) but you can come home to relax in the quiet countryside. The big terrace has bags of space for everyone, and a barbecue to boot. Here you’ll find it easy to unwind after a busy day pounding the picturesque city streets, biking, hiking or just making the most of the island’s beautiful beaches. Inside, this modern apartment pops with a fun touch of 70s nostalgia. The giant statement circular mirror, splashes of burnt orange and wrap-around wooden panels ensure the living area is a focal point, although it's still very much a comfortable place to kick back — so stock up the fridge with wine and make yourself at home.

The Flip Side

Deciding between days by the pool or in the sea has never been so difficult. This rare villa on Sardinia’s north coast sits amid wide open grounds scattered with lavender and ancient olive trees, with generous interiors that comfortably sleep up to twelve. It feels deliciously secluded and close to nature, yet a quick hop in the car puts you within reach of the island’s most beloved beaches, including Spiaggia Bianca, just a minute away, although there’s no direct path from the house. Nearby you’ll find excellent local restaurants, while the lively coastal city of Olbia is perfect when you’re craving a little more buzz.

A Sardinian Morning

Sun-seekers will love this Sardinian villa. It can be found in the village of Portobello di Gallura, just a short distance from the sandy shores of Cala Sassari. Its outside space is comprised of two large terraces with plenty of room for everyone to stretch out in the sun – and there are glorious sea views to admire. There's also a private pool. Inside the villa is crisp and modern, though you’ll have to pay for bed and bath linen (or bring your own). When you’re not at the beach, you can soak up the rays on the hiking and cycling trails of the Gallura area – it’s best to hire a car if you want to explore.

Lemons in the Sun

This traditional villa occupies an enviable position on Sardinia’s northern coast, just footsteps from the water and a short walk from Portobello Beach. You’ll need to hire a car if you fancy exploring further afield, but Santa Teresa Gallura is well worth the drive. Each bedroom boasts sea views and the terrace – complete with a private pool and covered seating area – is the ideal spot for a sundowner or two. Though the home is a little dated in parts, we think it adds to the charm, and with a location like this, we don’t think you’ll mind too much.

Coastal Zephyr

Perched above Porto Rotondo in a private five-thousand square metres of ancient trees and granite monoliths, this is an exceptional Sardinian retreat for large groups. A modern design built around a historic villa, it features a main house and five scattered villas, a stunning blend of architecture and nature. Enjoy the outdoor fitness area, soak in panoramic views from the infinity pool, and dine together in one of the covered verandas. There's more than enough to do here, but if you feel like exploring, the lively town square is only five hundred metres away.

The Ocean Jewel

Grab an authentic taste of Sardinia life with a stay at this contemporary home perched along the seafront of the bustling port town of Olbia. Its central location, set close to the town’s historic centre crammed with wine bars and a restaurant-lined plaza, will come in handy as there’s no kitchen at this home. It’s also worth noting there’s no living space to speak of. But with an impressive private balcony overlooking the island of Tavolara and the Gulf of Olbia for morning coffees and evening drinks, we don’t think you’ll mind.

Olive Heart

Perched above the unspoiled coastline of Costa Caddu, this villa is built around the view – a heated infinity pool on a panoramic terrace, an outdoor kitchen ready for long alfresco dinners, and a sea-facing bedroom where you wake to turquoise water framed by Mediterranean pines. After dark, the lit grounds come into their own beneath a sky full of stars. Isuledda Beach is just minutes away, La Cinta Beach is a seventeen-minute drive, and San Teodoro's centre is close enough that you'll never feel remote.

Granite & Infinity

This San Teodoro home is a short drive from the buzzing Spiaggia Lu Impostu. With its white sand and calm waters, beach days are a no-brainer – but if you'd prefer a bit more activity, why not hike Monte Nieddu for viewpoints across the sea? Back home, a private swimming pool will keep you busy on lazy days, while a covered terrace makes the perfect spot to enjoy a tipple or two. Sleeping arrangements are flexible thanks to a double sofa bed in the living area – although, with only two bathrooms here, nine guests will certainly be a squeeze. You'll also have to pay for towels and linen or bring your own.

Sweetest Gaze

Now that's what we call a view. Whether you're relaxing on the balcony, swimming in the pool or whipping up a feast in the kitchen, you'll be able to watch the waves rolling in the sea. Although bed linen and towels are an additional cost, each bedroom is comfortable and cosy – but, as there's only space for eight around the table, we think ten guests will be a squeeze. Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

Serene Seas

Find peace and serenity on the shores of Sardinia with a stay in this home. You’ll be treated to stunning views from the terrace and there’s a barbecue for alfresco dining, while the rooms make it easy to switch off and unwind. There’s no swimming pool here, but you will have an outdoor shower to cool-off and the beach is just 300 metres away. You could spend blissful days relaxing at home or adventure along the coast. Parking is available and it’s just a short drive to the nearest amenities in Aglientu and Vignola.

 The Love Sea

Sitting on a hill overlooking the beautiful coastline of Sardinia, this home is a hidden gem full of home comforts and with a sensational sense of outdoor living. The obvious highlight is, of course, that view – the azure water is visible from multiple corners of the home, a constant reminder that you’re in a paradisal spot next to the Tyrhennian Sea. While the bedrooms and kitchen can feel a little dated in parts, it’s all made up for with this incredible location, topped off by that brilliant vista.
