This chic apartment brings together style and sunshine. It’s on a winery in Taranto, in the bay of Torre Ovo – the sea couldn’t be closer. Admire Ionian Sea views from the private outdoor space, where you can soak up the sun in between dips in the sea. Designed by an architect, the apartment feels like an extension of the nature surrounding it – it’s bright, comfortable, and simple in style. At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living space. For this location, that’s easily forgiven. 

Grand Seascape

This home caught our eye for its beachfront location, just steps from the Ionian Sea. You’ll have your own private garden, which opens out onto a private beach – shared with the building’s other guests. With two dedicated loungers and a parasol, you won’t have to get up early to bag a good beach spot here. To make your holiday even more memorable, your host can help arrange treats, like a private chef to cook for you. And for days out, the coastal town of Taranto is a thirty-six-minute drive away. It’s worth noting that the only bathroom here is an en-suite, accessed via the bedroom. With that in mind, we think this home is best suited to a couple or a family.

You don’t get much more beachfront than this. Blessed with direct access to a private strip of sand (shared with four neighbouring apartments), this seaside home is a scenic spot for a beach break. The relaxed rooms are designed in contemporary coastal style, including a living space that opens onto a breezy balcony for savouring those sea views. It could be cosy with the sofa bed set up, and the compact kitchen is best for snacks or simple meals (you’ll find local eateries within easy walking distance). But if you’re a beach-lover, this one is hard to beat. And a great base for exploring picture-perfect Puglia.

Just seconds away from the gorgeous Ionian Coast, this two-storey home's beachside location more than makes up for its lack of a pool. There are several spots to look out over the turquoise water here – perfect for alfresco dining or a sunset cocktail. You'll even find an outdoor Jacuzzi to retire to once it's dark. Indoors, we weren't as keen on the simple decor, but everything you'll need for an extended stay is there. If you tire of days at the beach – and given the home provides access to kayaks, we'll wonder if you will – you'll find the historic towns of Sava and Taranto a short drive away.

As beach holidays go, this home is hard to beat. It’s right on the sand, putting the seashore seconds from your door. The beach is private too, shared between this apartment and four others, so you’ll always find somewhere to stretch out (there are two sun loungers and a parasol for your exclusive use). Inside, the apartment has a relaxed, beachy vibe, with lots of natural tones and textures. It could feel a little compact when the sofa bed is set up. But let’s be realistic – you’ll be spending most of your time on the beach. Or on the communal terrace, which we love for sunbathing or sunset drinks.

A mere ten-minute drive from the nearest beach and with far-reaching views, this villa is an ideal coastal family escape. Sun-seekers will adore the outdoor space, with terraces galore and a private pool to relax in, while inside, you’ll find each bedroom boasts an en-suite bathroom, so there will be no queue to get ready in the mornings. Spacious enough for the family to enjoy some quiet time or to socialise as a group, if you’re travelling with little ones, just keep an eye on them around the open-sided stairs.

Afterwards, stroll along the coast to find seafront restaurants, where you can dine without missing a moment of those special sea views.

This beautiful home is comprised of three villas, making it a perfect base for a large group. They’re centred around a stunning outside space with a pool, eighty olive trees, and a splendid alfresco dining space – we love the wood-fired pizza oven. The villas are modern and comfortable, equipped with everything you’ll need for a relaxing stay. We recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay – beautiful Campomarino beach is a seven-minute drive away. 

The Jewel of the Sea

If you’re after a base for a coastal Italian getaway, this apartment situated right by the beach of Campomarino is a great choice. You’ll have a huge private terrace with sun loungers and an alfresco dining area and a hot outdoor shower. As well as accessing the beach directly from the villa, you can also walk to the local shops and restaurants. Bear in mind that you’ll need to climb stairs to reach the entrance of this home.

It's not a trip to Puglia without a stay in a trullo house, and this is a gorgeous one. Located in the rolling countryside, within easy reach of some of the area's historic towns, it's a great place to begin your Italian adventures. 

The traditional stone building has plenty of original touches – you'll love the conical roofs and decorative fireplace that provides a rustic charm. When you get hungry, you can head to the kitchen and cook up your favourite pasta dishes using fresh local ingredients. And, there's no better place to serve up your culinary creations than outside on the patio, as you breathe in the fresh air and admire the lush greenery surrounding you. 

When you fancy a day trip, there are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area. The magnificent white city of Ostuni is around twenty minutes away by car, where you can stroll through the labyrinthine old quarter. The hilltop town of Martina Franca is around twenty-five minutes away, and if you fancy a day at the beach then you can drive to the coast in just over half an hour.

For a unique and memorable stay in Brindisi, this stunning villa is an excellent option. You’ll be housed in a wonderful Trulli – the quirky conical-roofed homes most often found in Puglia and Brindisi. Beneath its coned roof, the villa is a stylish place to stay. The unusual shape of the home means there are cosy corners for you to curl up in, as well as a high-ceilinged dining room that’s the heart of the home. 

Of course, you’ll likely be hoping for warm weather, so will probably spend most of your time outside. Locally, it’s a mere six kilometres to Santa Maria di Leuca and less than four kilometres from the beaches of Pescoluse Torre Vado – there’s something for everyone here.

Magnificent vaulted ceilings, original frescoes, and age-old cement tiled floors give you a taste of the region's past while the private roof terrace offers spectacular views out across the Ionian Sea. Accessed via an internal staircase, this is the perfect place to relax come morning, noon or night-time. This cluster of Trulli homes is like a fairytale illustration come to life. Each bone-white stone structure is home to a separate bedroom, kitchen and living room, with the outside space connecting them all together. Inside, comfy beds are nestled in archways and circular rooms have bare stone walls for an authentic feel. There’s no shortage of mod-cons though, with flatscreen TVs and desks for remote working if you need.

Really, though, this place was made for outdoor living, making the most of the sunny climes of Italy’s heel. There’s a full outdoor kitchen with a traditional stone bread oven, and myriad places to dine in the sun or shade – the choice is yours. Seats in the shade of ancient olive trees provide a moment’s respite. But the piece de resistance has to be the covered hot tub, surrounded by sun loungers to dry off after.

The location is a boon too, just outside the centre of one of Puglia’s prettiest towns – Locorotondo. A cluster of white medieval churches makes up the historic hilltop centre, where winding cobbled streets are filled with family-run trattoria and slow-food eateries. The UNESCO town of Ostuni is also within day-trip distance if you have a car.

Unusually for this packed-in city, this home has a private swimming pool – perfect for cooling off in the height of Puglia's summer. The sheltered terrace looks over the pool and we love the idea of long lunches or late dinners with friends here. Alternatively, Lecce's many seafood restaurants are only a short stroll along the cobbled streets. The house is in the centre of the city, with Roman amphitheatres, medieval castles, and grand cathedrals all jostling for space. On warmer days, it's less than a thirty-minute drive to the Mediterranean and many seaside tavernas.

And if the cosy interior wasn’t enough, the location definitely steps it up – a quick scenic drive and you’ll be wandering the whitewashed buildings of Ostuni, the famous Puglia town perfect for postcards.

Nestled in the heart of the historic Italian city of Lecce lies this boutique apartment, spread over two floors.
