This Roman hideaway is within walking distance of popular Trastevere, known for its cobblestone streets and traditional trattorias. And with train, bus, and tram stops nearby, reaching the rest of Rome will be a breeze. We love the private courtyard garden here, with its citrus and olive trees. And the covered patio is the perfect spot for a morning espresso or evening aperitivo, whatever the weather. It’s worth noting that the home is accessed via steps down to the front door. If that isn’t a deal-breaker, this apartment is a great choice for a couple or solo traveller wanting a convenient base from which to explore the capital.

Rome Garden Sanctuary

Arriving through a vaulted courtyard into a 17th-century palazzo, you're already somewhere remarkable before you've even unlocked the door. The coffered ceilings and marble architraves inside belong to another era entirely – the grand living room alone commands the kind of scale that most Roman apartments can only dream of. Travertine bathrooms and a fully fitted kitchen mean the classical setting doesn't ask you to sacrifice comfort. Step outside and Piazza Navona is a five-minute walk, the Pantheon a ten-minute stroll, and Campo de' Fiori's morning market eight-minutes away on foot.

Bernini's Doorstep

Housed in a 15th-century building with its Renaissance-style internal courtyard, this ground-floor apartment has a wonderful setting. Inside, we particularly love the dramatic vaulted ceilings in the open-plan living space – this room also has a comfy sofa bed. And while the kitchen has no oven, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Located in the heart of Rome’s historical centre, this apartment is just a short stroll from Campo de' Fiori with its famous food market. Other places of interest in walking distance include Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and the Vatican City, so the location is fantastic.

Renaissance-style Courtyard

With its contemporary style full of sleek furnishings and decor, this is slice of modern living in an especially ancient part of Rome. Find yourselves right in the thick of the action as soon as you leave your door, with the Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori close by, and the iconic Pantheon just down the street. When you’ve had your fill of sightseeing, kick off your shoes and climb into the cosy bed, or have a coffee outside in the courtyard.

Pantheon Charm

Located in a quiet corner of Rome’s bohemian Travestere neighbourhood, this stylish apartment offers a calm and relaxing base from which to explore the city’s most famous sights.

Distinctly modern with its dusky blue feature wall, wood floors and contemporary decor, the open-plan living area is a sociable space in which you’ll feel right at home. Make yourself comfortable on the sofa with your morning coffee, enjoying the breeze flowing through the open glass door. Here, you’ll find three steps leading out onto a private sun-baked terrace – the ideal spot to catch some rays on the loungers or to gather for an alfresco meal around the outdoor table.

The study – which acts as a second bedroom – is the perfect spot to retreat for some quiet reading or to catch up on work at the desk space with its views of the communal garden, while the main bedroom is pared-back yet elegant and boasts a luxurious en-suite complete with a rainfall shower. And if that wasn’t enough, you’ve also got access to the building’s on-site sauna.

When it comes to exploring, visit the Botanical Garden of Rome (a six-minute walk away) or stroll across the River Tiber to see the Pantheon (a twenty-three-minute walk) and Piazza Navona (an eighteen-minute walk). With countless traditional and innovative trattorias, craft beer pubs and artisan shops within your Travestere locale too, you’ve got the best of the Eternal City within easy reach.

The Garden Mill

St. Peter's Basilica is just a ten-minute stroll from this apartment – how's that for location? Sightseeing is a breeze here, with Vatican City next door and central Rome easily reached on foot or via the nearby metro. But landmarks aside, Prati is also home to chic wine bars, trendy boutiques, and delicious eateries. The apartment itself is a great option for small groups. Two lounges each boast sofa beds – fine for short stays – while the breezy bedrooms have desks if remote working is on the cards. Stylish, bright, and well-located – apart from the compact kitchen, it has everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Eternal Romance

Right here in the centre of Rome, this impressive apartment offers all the benefits of a self-contained home with some of the bonuses of a hotel.

Elsewhere in your apartment, you'll have a well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and three good-size bedrooms, each with an en-suite. With the main sitting area in the expansive master suite, along with bookshelves and a mini-fridge, you could well end up using this as your lounge. And it's plenty grand enough, with its elegant, frescoed ceiling and dual windows.

Step outside and you'll be within striking distance of Piazza Navona, with its fountain and bars, and from all sorts of museums, shops and eateries. And don't miss the open-air Campo de' Fiori market – just a five-minute walk away.

A Certain Prestige

At this city-centre apartment, Rome's storied history isn't just visible outside the window – it's present in the original, detailed Baroque ceilings and elegant terracotta floors. In the living space, patio doors open to a small balcony overlooking the Pizza Navona's famous Neptune Fountain, so you can bring the historic atmosphere inside while you unwind or work at the desk. There's a fuss-free kitchen for meals at home, but with some of Rome's best restaurants on your doorstep, we doubt you'll have need of it. You're also within walking distance of sights like the Trevi Fountain, Vatican City, and the Pantheon – what could be better?

Sacred Piazza

The palazzo that houses this apartment is something to behold. It's a wonderfully historic building that backs onto a little square and housed renowned American expressionist painter Cy Twombly for a good part of his later life. Once inside, the apartment is simple and traditional but elegant. There are plenty of eye-catching original features on display, including the stunning exposed beam ceiling and open fireplace, It lacks the personal effects of a lived-in home, which will appeal to those who tend to find Roman apartments on the busy side, but your hosts made your comfort their number one priority – the beds (and linens in particular) feel very luxurious and make getting up in the morning that little bit trickier. Explore the labyrinth of streets and you'll find yourself a few minutes' walk from the River Tiber, a five-minute stroll from Piazza Campo de' Fiori and 550 metres from the stunning Piazza Navona.

Pencil Graffiti

Obsidian & Cream is a quietly stylish home located in the South West of Rome in the heart of Trastevere, renowned for its narrow streets and authentic Italian feel. Here, the city's busiest sights are left behind for charming backstreets, lined by cosy cafes and shops. You'll be able to stroll along the River Tiber, take a trip to the Basilica Di Santa Maria (a two-minute walk away), and come back to relax in this welcoming apartment all in an afternoon's escapades. With sleek bathrooms and two truly comfortable bedrooms as well as extra space on the sofa bed, this humble abode would suit a group of friends in Rome for a few days perfectly. While there may be lots of sights to tick off around the city, the home invites guests to unwind in pure comfort as the warm, earthy tones and rustic charm throughout, makes for a laid-back ambience worth writing home about. We particularly love dark wooden doors and beams that run across the ceilings – as well as the beautiful stone sink in the master bathroom. Trust us when we say, you won't want to leave the relaxed way of living here, let alone the feeling of zen that flows freely around this apartment.

Obsidian & Cream

Sitting on the banks of the Tiber River in the authentic Rione XX Testaccio neighbourhood, this apartment puts you in an ideal position to experience the best of the city's history and culture. You're a short walk from the start of the Roman Forum which leads to the beloved Colosseum in just a matter of minutes. Along with the top sights, renowned pastry shops, cosy eateries, and alfresco bars will please traditionalists and creatives alike.

Inside, kick back with a good glass of Rioja on the plush sofa, stick on a movie from the home's impressive collection and recover from a busy day of sightseeing. Whether you're waking up in the comfortable bedroom or preparing breakfast in the open kitchen and dining area, you'll feel perfectly at home in this elegant yet cosy space.

But the real standout here is the desirable postcode. Beat the crowds with an early morning visit to the Trevi Fountain or explore the Pantheon and the surrounding piazzas, teeming with family-run restaurants – pizza, pasta, and limoncello awaits.
