Despite a small footprint, Saguaro makes great use of the space it has. The mezzanine creates a feeling of openness while the colours brighten the place. We also really liked Iacopo, who we found really patient and helpful (even for a Plum host). The area is an interesting one, and depending on your point of view, could be considered a downside, as it’s a bit out of many of the main tourist hotspots. It is, however, an opportunity to experience Rome as a Roman would, free from the crowds and vendors.


Saguaro

You’ll find this apartment in a characterful period building in authentic Testaccio. It’s a vibrant, historic district of Rome known for its culinary culture, full of trattorias, restaurants, and markets. The apartment building has an internal courtyard that makes it a peaceful base, perfect for a city break. The neutral hues of this home add to the restful vibe – you can relax here. There’s a kitchen to cook in, and a bright, welcoming living and dining space where you can spend time together. 

Authentic Rome

A balcony with views over the neighbourhood awaits at this home. Or, unwind inside and relax in the large and colourful living room. We should mention that guests three and four will be sleeping in the lounge on a sofa bed. The kitchen is quite compact, but it has been well-designed and has everything you need to cook some Italian cuisine. Location-wise, the neighbourhood allows you to live like a local, while a lot of Rome’s key landmarks are a metro ride away – the transport links here are excellent.

Arancione Vivido

Enjoy the heart of Rome from your own Testaccio apartment. Recently renovated, the space features rustic tiled floors and stone and beam ceilings that feel charming, plus all the essentials for a relaxed, comfortable stay, including Wi-Fi and a TV. It’s just across the road from the famous Testaccio Market and a short stroll to the Piramide metro station, which means you’re ideally placed to explore Rome’s iconic sights, enjoy local trattorias, or take a scenic bike ride along the Tiber.

Cinder & Amber

Vista Antica immediately grasps you with its view - a spectacular, west-facing panorama of the Colosseum and the Roman Forums. You couldn't be better placed to feel the energy of the eternal city.

Wake up to the sight of one of the world's most breathtaking buildings and feel inspired for a day in the Italian capital. The Roman Forums are just a short walk away, providing an insight into Rome's historical significance. 

Head towards the centre to discover the wealth of iconic landmarks that define the skyline. The Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Hadrian's Villa top the list of your sightseeing itinerary, fuelled by fresh cups of coffee and Italian pastries. 

At the end of a busy afternoon, treat yourself to some authentic pizza at one of the many charming restaurants. Whilst you're there, you may as well try some of the delicious bottles of wine too.

Return back home in the evening to your cosy apartment that has plenty to offer beyond its wonderful location. The interior is overflowing with character, infused with antiques and high-vaulted ceilings. Come nightfall, the balcony is a dreamy place to chat about the adventures of tomorrow.


Vista Antica

A seamless blend of traditional charm and contemporary flair, this apartment is quite a gem. The high-quality finishes are straight out of a magazine, while those searching for character will appreciate the wooden ceilings dating back to the 1400s. Two single sofa beds offer sleeping space for little ones in the lounge, though we think this pad is best for a couple. As for the location, you'll be based in Trastevere. Known for its bohemian atmosphere, local trattorias, and artisan shops, this neighbourhood is the perfect stomping grounds for those seeking an authentic stay. You're also an easy stroll into the centre if sightseeing is on your to-do list.

A Modern Mosaic

Situated in Monteverde, this apartment boasts a charming rooftop terrace with plenty of space for you to relax and enjoy alfresco meals. From here, it's a short walk or bus ride to the quirky Trastevere district, with a great selection of pubs, eateries and shops, plus a well-connected Metro station. The home itself is perfectly practical for two or three guests – though the third person will be sleeping on a sofa bed. It's also worth noting that this home is located on the third floor without a lift, so we recommend it for those who can easily manage stairs. 

Roman Sky

Sitting on the banks of the Tiber River in the authentic Rione XX Testaccio neighbourhood, this apartment puts you in an ideal position to experience the best of the city's history and culture. You're a short walk from the start of the Roman Forum which leads to the beloved Colosseum in just a matter of minutes. Along with the top sights, renowned pastry shops, cosy eateries, and alfresco bars will please traditionalists and creatives alike. 

Inside, kick back with a good glass of Rioja on the plush sofa, stick on a movie from the home's impressive collection and recover from a busy day of sightseeing. Whether you're waking up in the comfortable bedroom or preparing breakfast in the open kitchen and dining area, you'll feel perfectly at home in this elegant yet cosy space. 

But the real standout here is the desirable postcode. Beat the crowds with an early morning visit to the Trevi Fountain or explore the Pantheon and the surrounding piazzas, teeming with family-run restaurants – pizza, pasta, and limoncello awaits. 

The Modern Historian

You’ll find this apartment set back from the bustle of the inner city in the authentic Testaccio district. Take a stroll over to the famous Testaccio Market or the Tiber River (it's just across the road), or dive into one of the nearby trattorias and cafes to mingle with the locals. The Piramide Metro station is just a short stroll away, too, for when it’s time to explore Rome’s other must-sees. Back home, don’t be fooled by the historic building's exterior. Inside, this home has been converted to make a great practical base. Bedrooms are light-filled thanks to those period windows, and there’s  a living room for quiet evenings in. 

From Testaccio, With Love

Unpretentious and reassuring, Shoreline is comfortable, and the kind of place where things work without any fuss. It’s on the lower ground floor, so views are out of the question, but while it’s not overly bright, it’s not really any different to any number of the old flats in narrow streets closer to the centre of the city. However, as it’s in Monteverde, the streets are wide and lined with trees, the traffic much calmer, and the tourists far away.


Shoreline

This newly renovated home is just a two-minute stroll from Campo dei Fiori, with its daily market and array of cafes, bars and restaurants. St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City is under twenty minutes on foot. It's a few minutes more to the Trevi Fountain, and the Colosseum and Imperial Forum are about a thirty-minute walk or fifteen-minute ride. How's that for a Roman getaway?

Take some fresh produce back to this apartment and rustle up a carbonara and salad to enjoy at your dining table. After dinner, have a seat on the comfy chaise sofa and enjoy a glass of wine. This home is decorated in neutral mushroom hues, and the vases of flowers dotted around give the place a lovely homely feel – and we love the French doors, which allow light to flood in. This abode is perfect for a couple or friends looking to be within easy reach of many of the Eternal City’s attractions.


Porcini

This unique home is ideal for large groups. It’s a whole building divided into four separate apartments, so up to eighteen guests can stay together while also having their own space – though four guests will be sleeping on sofa beds. The steep stone stairs aren’t suitable for those with reduced mobility – or heavy suitcases – but those stairs mean that the views from the outside spaces are pretty special. Best of all, you’re just a short stroll from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, with all the sights of the city within easy reach.
