You’ll find this modern apartment through an archway of a historic building which shelters a shared courtyard garden. The living room has a homely feel and there are views across the River Tiber. A well-equipped kitchen makes preparing some Italian cuisine easy or have a walk to one of the local restaurants nearby. You can also take a stroll along the river here on your doorstep or visit many of the city’s cultural attractions within walking distance. These include the Roman Forum and the Coliseum to mention just a few.

Tiber View

Despite a small footprint, Saguaro makes great use of the space it has. The mezzanine creates a feeling of openness while the colours brighten the place. We also really liked Iacopo, who we found really patient and helpful (even for a Plum host). The area is an interesting one, and depending on your point of view, could be considered a downside, as it’s a bit out of many of the main tourist hotspots. It is, however, an opportunity to experience Rome as a Roman would, free from the crowds and vendors.


Saguaro

Unpretentious and reassuring, Shoreline is comfortable, and the kind of place where things work without any fuss. It’s on the lower ground floor, so views are out of the question, but while it’s not overly bright, it’s not really any different to any number of the old flats in narrow streets closer to the centre of the city. However, as it’s in Monteverde, the streets are wide and lined with trees, the traffic much calmer, and the tourists far away.


Shoreline

Situated in the Trastevere district, this modern apartment has access to some fantastic communal amenities. There’s a gym, rooftop terraces to enjoy with views over the city and a co-working space, making this place ideal for both leisure and business travellers. The apartment itself also has a private balcony reached from the open-plan living room (this space sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full capacity). There's also another small balcony off the bedroom. The public transport links here are great, too, so reaching Rome’s key attractions is easy and you’ll find a variety of trattorias, bars and independent shops in the area. 

L'Eleganza di Rome

Located in a coveted spot directly across from the Piazza Venezia in Rome, this stylish home puts you at the very heart of the city’s action. Inside, modern comfort meets Italian elegance with large leather sofas, herringbone wood floors and a stunning coffered ceiling in the living room. Of course, the piece de resistance is the windows here, offering unobstructed views of the piazza. Snuggle up on the sofa with your morning coffee while feasting on the vistas, then head out to see the city’s other iconic sights. The Colosseum is just a ten-minute walk away, while the Trevi Fountain is just eight minutes away on foot. After a day of sightseeing, come back home for a luxurious shower before sitting down to a meal in your dining area as you watch the sunset from your picture windows. Alternatively, head back out to sample Rome’s famous food scene, then return to your swish flat for a serene night’s sleep in your comfortable, minimalist bedroom. 


Caput Mundi

Tucked away in the atmospheric alleys of Trastevere lies this little gem of an apartment. Housed in a 17th Century building that was once a Roman monastery, there’s a feeling of grandeur about this property, with a sweeping staircase guiding you to the entrance. But once inside, it’s all fresh and contemporary interiors. Just the high ceilings tell of its historic beginnings and give the space a lofty, airy feel. We particularly love the striking sliding copper door – a smart way to close off the lounge space from the dining area should people choose to use the sofa bed as a second bedroom. And you’ll be guaranteed a good night’s sleep here, with room darkening shades in both rooms. Just don’t snooze too long with the beautiful piazzas of Trastevere and Rome’s sights waiting. Both the tram and bus stops are a mere two-minute walk away and in a few stops, you'll be in the heart of Rome. Alternatively, take a stroll over the river and you can be at Rome’s biggest sights, including the Colosseo and Pantheon, in under half an hour. Or perhaps a little longer to account for those gelato and pizza pitstops, naturally.  


Gioiellino

Step into the heart of the Eternal City with a stay in this cosy pad, nestled in the vibrant Trastevere neighbourhood. Tailor-made for two, it’s the perfect place to relax after a busy day – that said, you can add a couple more guests in with the sofa bed in the living room, though it’s a bit of a squeeze. The kitchen here is basic, so you won’t be able to test your culinary skills too much – but with restaurants lining the streets below, meals out are a must. And with Trastevere station nearby, you'll have easy access to public transport when you’re ready to explore Rome. 

Liberty in Rome

This apartment in the Testaccio neighbourhood of Rome is a shining example of a somewhere we'd be more than happy to stay in the Italian capital. Quite literally in the case of the gleaming chequerboard tiling, parquet-style flooring and black marble in the master bathroom, which reflect the light beautifully and make this home feel gloriously light. The open-concept kitchen-dining area feels geared towards shared mealtimes, which is only appropriate given the locale's reputation as a gastronomic hotspot. Stroll over to Testaccio's glass-roofed market in under ten minutes and pick up some fresh ingredients for a home-prepared feast. Alternatively, if you're feeling lazy — or intrepid, however you want to frame it — there are a wide choice of restaurants nearby from which to take your pick.

Mondo Nuovo

You can relax on this apartment’s sunny terrace or chill out in the well-designed open-plan living room. There’s a well-equipped kitchen too for when you want to cook some Italian cuisine or there are a variety of great eateries in the vicinity. This area allows you to live like a local and offers a slower pace of life. While a lot of Rome’s key attractions are a ride away – the transport links here are good so exploring the city is easy.

Terraces & Vines

Enjoy the heart of Rome from your own Testaccio apartment. Recently renovated, the space features rustic tiled floors and stone and beam ceilings that feel charming, plus all the essentials for a relaxed, comfortable stay, including Wi-Fi and a TV. It’s just across the road from the famous Testaccio Market and a short stroll to the Piramide metro station, which means you’re ideally placed to explore Rome’s iconic sights, enjoy local trattorias, or take a scenic bike ride along the Tiber.

Cinder & Amber

Positioned bang in the heart of the historic Trastevere district of Rome, there's no better location than this elegant escape – especially if it's a picturesque and authentically Italian experience that you're looking for. Along the cobbled streets, endless eateries, bars and boutiques welcome both locals and tourists with open arms. You'll see people sipping Aperol spritz in the summertime, and red wine come winter, but out on the terraces whatever the weather. Dubbed as the historic centre of Rome, this humble home boasts an idyllic location, just minutes from the city's most notable museums and monuments. Stroll across the River Tibet for twenty-five minutes and you'll wind up at the Roman Forum where you'll spend hours exploring and unearthing its history. From there continue on to the Colosseum, before heading back home for some well-deserved downtime. Enjoy panoramic views over the neighbouring rooftops as you take the elevator up to the top floor, where you'll find your apartment set away from the hustle of it all. Inside, contemporary interiors – carefully selected by local designer Beatrice Medici offer a notable contrast from the historic surroundings of the local area. While funky artwork brings colour to an otherwise minimal design style. Rest up in the bedroom which faces the back courtyard of the home and allows for increased privacy, as well as that all-important peace and quiet after an action-packed day.

Cinnabar

When we say that this home is a stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain, we really mean it. Or should we say a coin’s throw? Watch where you’re aiming that penny, because this apartment is just steps away from Rome’s most striking water feature. In a quiet lane away from clamouring tourists, this spot has world-famous attractions, but with a local vibe. Stepping in to look around the decor, you notice a delightful mixture of old and new. Keep an eye out for chunky wooden beams, parquet floors, and original masonry as you settle down on antique furniture. Then there’s a somewhat contemporary Scandi look, with minimalist bedspreads, stepped bed frames, and modern, white shelved walls. These shelves are packed with literature and art books. Take your pick from the collection and perch in the study – with its twisted gold column, hardwood furnishings, and vintage typewriter, you’ll feel every bit the European intellectual. A stroll in the immediate neighbourhood will take you to jewellery boutiques and hidden wine bars for a glass of barolo. Descend the famous Spanish Steps to the Piazza di Spagna, just over five minutes from your home – from here, you can explore all the sights of the city by metro.
