Step into the Art Nouveau sunroom of this period apartment and just soak up its vintage style and warm character. Surrounded by extraordinary windows – some frosted for privacy, others with stained glass – along with huge houseplants and antique furnishings, it's a striking space. Read on the sofa or linger over coffee at the dining table in the morning light. Overlooking a lush garden, it's certainly the highlight of the home. But there's plenty more to love about this place. Small, but perfectly functional, the kitchen leads to a hallway and a snug TV room with its own dining table. The pretty master bedroom is beautifully decorated, with plenty of storage and a desk, while the ensuite second bedroom has its own desk and a fabulous tiled floor. There's even the option of adding a cot if you're travelling as a family. With such easy access around the city from this spot, you'll be surprised how peaceful and quiet it is – yet it's surrounded by excellent shops and restaurants and it's just a fifteen-minute walk from the Colosseum.

Through Frosted Glass

Located in the Tuscolano neighbourhood, this apartment makes it easy to enjoy the timeless magic of Rome. Outside, it’s just 500 metres to the nearest metro station, while the Colosseum is just a twenty-minute bus ride away. There’s a great selection of local restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Plus, your host is on hand to help organise extras like taxi reservations and grocery deliveries. It’s worth noting the apartment is basic, but there’s a little balcony and plenty of space for couples and families in search of a relaxing base in the Eternal City. 

The Amara

Situated in Rome’s Campo de' Fiori, this apartment is ideal for those who want a base with all the necessary comforts but aren't too concerned about frills. That said, the private terrace is pretty wow, with a lounge area, dining area and sweeping city views. We like the traditional features, but you might find the kitchen and bathrooms a little dated. What sold us on this pad was the terrace, the enclosed patio, and the central location – from here, you’re a short walk from the Pantheon and the Roman Forum, while you’ll find plenty of trattorias, neighbourhood bars and little cafes just off your doorstep.

A Touch of Rome

On a quiet street near San Giovanni in Laterano, this eclectic apartment offers a haven to return to after a day in the bustling centre. Though the neighbourhood is quiet, you’re still only a fifteen-minute stroll away from the Colosseum and Roman Forum. If you don’t fancy stretching your legs, the Manzoni metro station is a three-minute walk, putting all of Rome at your fingertips. This loft apartment is a mix of glamour and kitsch – think gilded mirrors, leopard-print throws and thick, red velvet curtains. Though the arched windows and exposed beam ceiling reassure that you’re in an old quarter of Rome. The eclectic fireplace set in a traditional mantle is a nice homely touch too.

Unicorn's Mane

If you've been planning a Roman holiday and are craving a location that's within walking distance to top sights but away from the tourist throngs, this is it. Brush shoulders with the locals as you peruse the local cafes and shopping streets. Take a short walk to the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum. Enjoy home-cooked meals in the cosy kitchen here or taste local delicacies in one of the many restaurants within reach. Well-placed and with everything you could need for a comfortable stay, this place has lots to like about it. 

Roman Residence

Calling all music lovers, this small but unique apartment is for you. Decorated with a musical theme and equipped with instruments, you can spend days exploring Rome and evenings making music. It's located just outside the centre of Rome, in a quiet neighbourhood between the lively Pigneto and San Lorenzo districts that offer a taste of local life with flea markets, authentic restaurants, and live music venues. Central Rome is easily reached by tram or bus, with the iconic Colosseum only thirty minutes from your door.

A Musical Dwelling

With its contemporary style full of sleek furnishings and decor, this is slice of modern living in an especially ancient part of Rome. Find yourselves right in the thick of the action as soon as you leave your door, with the Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori close by, and the iconic Pantheon just down the street. When you’ve had your fill of sightseeing, kick off your shoes and climb into the cosy bed, or have a coffee outside in the courtyard.

Pantheon Charm

This stylish apartment is right around the corner from Termini, Rome's biggest train station, so there's no doubt that the transport links are excellent. But many of the must-see sights can also be reached on foot, including the magnificent Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore five minutes away and The Colosseum just a little further, about a twenty-minute stroll. After fueling up on pasta and gelato at Mercato Centrale Roma across the street, set off for the Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon and The Spanish Steps, all reachable in under half an hour. When you're not off exploring, shopping or sipping Italian wine at one of the bars in this area, rest your tired feet back at home. We love the bold green colours and funky design – picture cowhide rugs, vibrant pop art and leafy wallpaper in the bedroom. The bathroom is also one of our favourites – it has a huge walk-in rain shower that's the perfect way to relax after a busy day. And this pad has more than enough room for two, so there's plenty of space to make yourself at home. In the evenings, pour yourself an aperitif and rustle up a feast in the contemporary kitchen, then end the night with Netflix in bed, nodding off while to the sound of your favourite shows.

Verdant Verde

Obsidian & Cream is a quietly stylish home located in the South West of Rome in the heart of Trastevere, renowned for its narrow streets and authentic Italian feel. Here, the city's busiest sights are left behind for charming backstreets, lined by cosy cafes and shops. You'll be able to stroll along the River Tiber, take a trip to the Basilica Di Santa Maria (a two-minute walk away), and come back to relax in this welcoming apartment all in an afternoon's escapades. With sleek bathrooms and two truly comfortable bedrooms as well as extra space on the sofa bed, this humble abode would suit a group of friends in Rome for a few days perfectly. While there may be lots of sights to tick off around the city, the home invites guests to unwind in pure comfort as the warm, earthy tones and rustic charm throughout, makes for a laid-back ambience worth writing home about. We particularly love dark wooden doors and beams that run across the ceilings – as well as the beautiful stone sink in the master bathroom. Trust us when we say, you won't want to leave the relaxed way of living here, let alone the feeling of zen that flows freely around this apartment. 

Obsidian & Cream

When it comes to location, you could hardly ask for a more convenient spot to be than this bright and modern apartment, situated just moments away from the Forum and the Colosseum. At the same time, you’ll benefit from being slightly removed from the main tourist tracks, able to immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of one of Rome’s trendiest areas. 

Arrive to be welcomed by the light-filled open-plan living room and kitchen area, inviting you to kick off your shoes and relax after a long day of exploring the Eternal City. Lounge about on the plush sofa or gather everyone around the dining table for a light supper you’ll be able to rustle up with ease in the well-equipped kitchen. 

For a night of restful sleep head over to the cosy bedrooms, one offering a double bed and the second featuring two singles, with additional sleeping spaces in the living room. Wake up restored and ready for another day of la dolce vita. 

Outside your door, you’ll find yourself just steps away from the vintage stores and charming cafes of Monti and a ten-minute walk from all the splendour of Ancient Rome. 

Fellini's Dreams 

If you’re after a smart bolthole set slightly back from the hustle of Rome's centre, this San Giovanni district apartment is a strong contender. The city’s sights, including the Basilica San Giovanni, are still within walking distance. But it’s just as easy to hop on the Metro (200 metres away on foot) – or ask your host to arrange a chauffeur for you, if you’d rather travel in style. A home best suited to close-knit friends or a small family, two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the lounge. That said, the two bathrooms are a welcome bonus to speed along your mornings. As is the small but sunny balcony – the perfect spot for morning coffees or aperitivos. 

Giovanni's Place

This apartment is a comfortable and practical space in the Italian capital. Though slightly outside the historical centre, getting around is a breeze thanks to nearby public transport. If you fancy stretching your legs, you can also walk to the Colosseum in thirty minutes. Back home, the fuss-free living space and functional kitchen have everything you need to settle in. There's also a desk in the main bedroom, ideal for digital nomads. Just note that two guests will sleep on the sofa bed.
