Two chairs create the perfect opportunity for a romantic sunset moment. Though the interior doesn't quite hold a candle to the surroundings, it's still comfortable. There's also more than enough room for a family or group of friends. As for location, beach lovers can rejoice knowing they're only 800 meters from Palombaggia Beach.

And while the setting feels remote, local beaches and restaurants are all within easy reach by car.

On a panoramic promontory, close to the glamour and glitz of the Costa Smeralda, this charming villa is the perfect base for exploring Sardinia’s splendid coast. The view over the Gulf of Portisco is the kind of sight we’ve been dreaming of all winter. Picture yourself soaking up the Sardinian sun beside the lagoon-like pool or gazing out over olive trees and deep blue ocean from the veranda. Inside provides a welcome respite from the heat of the midday sun, with cool terracotta floors, traditional furniture and local handicrafts. You’re 2km away from a string of white sand beaches, as well as the Marina di Portisco with its selection of waterfront restaurants. The characterful borgo of San Pantaleo is just inland and is ideal for picking up fresh produce for an Italian style feast come the evening. You’ll want to be back home before the sun goes down though, for an aperitif with a view.

The swimming pool and hot tub here are shared with the building’s other guests, and you’ll also have your own private terrace – perfect for alfresco dining or relaxing in the sun. And animal-lovers can make friends with the dog and cats that live outdoors here – they’re very friendly and used to guests. It’s worth noting that at full occupancy – when guests five and six will be sleeping on sofa beds in the living area – privacy will be limited, as the only bathrooms are en-suites accessed via the bedrooms. Location-wise, you’re a few minutes’ drive from the artists’ village of San Pantaleo, and a ten-minute drive from Cannigione Beach.

A 350-metre stroll from Porto Rafael's tiny beach, this villa's lack of wi-fi invites you to disconnect. Pet friendly with postcard views, this home has two terraces for sunbathing and dining, plus a lawn for barbecue picnics. While baby equipment is available as an extra, the low railings may mean parents can't relax. One bedroom can only be accessed from outside, but unless your group exceeds eight, this room stays locked. There are nearby shops for essentials, but we recommend planning a trip to Palau.

The outdoor dining table is the natural social setting for sharing a cold bottle of Vermentino di Gallura and a chargrilled Mediterranean dinner. When the plates have been cleared, settle into the garden chairs for panoramic sunset views.

Grab an authentic taste of Sardinia life with a stay at this contemporary home perched along the seafront of the bustling port town of Olbia. Its central location, set close to the town’s historic centre crammed with wine bars and a restaurant-lined plaza, will come in handy as there’s no kitchen at this home. It’s also worth noting there’s no living space to speak of. But with an impressive private balcony overlooking the island of Tavolara and the Gulf of Olbia for morning coffees and evening drinks, we don’t think you’ll mind.

Often overlooked for its showier cousin – Costa Smeralda – the authentic port town of Olbia remains relatively untouched by tourism. Discover its charms at this dazzling new apartment overlooking the waterfront and just a short walk from the town's historic centre, crammed with boutiques, wine bars and a restaurant-lined plaza. More like a hotel room than an apartment – it's important to note there's no kitchen or living area here. However, that private terrace overlooking the sea is a nice touch for morning cuppas, and there's a coffee pod machine to kickstart your days.

With a private garden overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, this charming bungalow makes for a restful stay. The interiors are on the minimal side of things, but the space feels perfectly practical and inviting. Outside, you’ll find a dining table and barbecue to share alfresco dinners, and as night falls, you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of locally-produced Vermentino. Although there isn’t a swimming pool here, the sands of Quarta Spiaggia are just a few steps away, so after soaking up the sun, you can cool off in the crystal-clear waters.

If you're staying in a home situated on the Sardinian coastline, it would be a crying shame if the address didn't have an outdoor spot from which to admire the majesty of the local landscape. Thankfully, this apartment in the north of the island really delivers on the front.

Not only is there a large sun terrace with 180-degree views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Tavolara island, but there are two further verandahs with alfresco tables and a well-kept garden. There are pleasant views out through the home's windows too, which, thanks to the elevated position, also bring in lots of natural light. This asset works particularly well with the bright and contemporary design throughout, from the white walls and glossy kitchen surfaces to the rather striking head sculpture in the living space.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, there's a rock beach only eighty metres from the home and the sandy Spiaggia Mare Rocce is two hundred metres' walk. There's a decent choice of restaurants in the surrounding town of Pittulongu, while you can find a wider choice, plus some archaeological ruins, in the city of Olbia, just over fifteen minutes' drive away.

Base yourself along the Sardinian coast at this smart apartment set in the authentic port town of Olbia. While the sea-facing balcony overlooking the island of Tavolara and the Gulf of Olbia is impressive, it's important to note that this home has no kitchen or living area. But with the best of Olbia's restaurants just a short walk away for the freshest seafood imaginable, we suspect you'll eat out a lot anyway. And there's an all-important coffee pod machine to kick-start your day. Fancy a beach day? There are miles of uncrowded sandy coves just a short drive up the coast.

Located within a vast, rural estate and surrounded by pomegranate and olive trees, this captivating Corsican home really does have it all. Alternatively, if you fancy a little light exploration, one of the island’s most idyllic beaches, Plage de Roccapina is just 14km away whilst the historic village of Sartène can be reached in 20 minutes by car.


Pomegranate & Olive

This villa is an excellent spot in which to admire the natural beauty of Sardinia. Thanks to the home's elevated position, guests get a wonderful view of the dazzling blue waters of Porto Rotondo from the upper floors. However, don't be surprised if the paradisical garden immediately below grabs your attention, too.

Out here in among the colourful flower beds and handsome granite walls, you can while away lazy afternoons paddling about in the swimming pool, catching some rays on the loungers or cooking up a storm in the outdoor kitchen (complete with a barbecue and pizza oven).

Inside, the home is spread across four floors, so while there are plenty of stairs, it feels cool and airy, thanks to the high ceilings, stark white walls and terracotta tiling underfoot. There's a discernible rustic theme to the design, from the wicker chairs and natural-themed artwork to the large rock feature in the main entrance hall.

With the nautical location, you might not be surprised to learn that there are two beaches that can be reached in just over a quarter of an hour's walk (Spiaggia dei Sassi and di Ira), while the historic city of Olbia takes a similar amount of time to reach in the car, too. Closer to home, there are a handful of restaurants, bars and discos in the local area.

Designed by architect Cini Boeri, this wonderfully unique home in Sardinia is tilted forward to better show off the panoramic views of its incredible surroundings. Created to make the most of indoor-outdoor living, it's also cleverly constructed to keep the south-facing areas cool and shaded, shielding your from the heat of the Sardinian sun. While the stark grey facade and sharply angled lines make a breathtaking first impression, we think the interiors speak for themselves too. We love how the architect decided to show off the incredible landscape of La Maddalena by creating a picture frame out of every window – each one set at the exact right height to maximise the impact. There’s even a telescope in the study so you can explore the area from the comfort of your own home, or go full Rear Window and see what your neighbours are up to down in the harbour. The muted grey tones of the exterior are mirrored in the contemporary kitchen, while the dining room is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows offering the best views in the house. Outside, you’ll find a wooden deck that’s perfect for morning coffees, evening cocktails, and everything in between.
