With two terraces overlooking the bay of Portu Frailis, this home calls for a relaxing coastal getaway. From here, you can admire the views and then take the short stroll down to the beach where you’ll also find a small selection of restaurants. You will need a car if you’d like to explore further afield, but there is free private parking. It’s also worth noting there’s no lift access here and that while some of the furniture is a little dated, the apartment has been recently renovated. However, we think most of your time will be spent outdoors – taking advantage of this great location.

It’s worth noting there are stairs leading up to the entrance of the apartment, but once inside you’ll find a family-friendly home with the addition of a sofa bed for two guests in the living room. The terrace also includes a barbecue – perfect for alfresco dining as the sun sets over the bay.

If you're staying in a home situated on the Sardinian coastline, it would be a crying shame if the address didn't have an outdoor spot from which to admire the majesty of the local landscape. Thankfully, this apartment in the north of the island really delivers on the front.

Not only is there a large sun terrace with 180-degree views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Tavolara island, but there are two further verandahs with alfresco tables and a well-kept garden. There are pleasant views out through the home's windows too, which, thanks to the elevated position, also bring in lots of natural light. This asset works particularly well with the bright and contemporary design throughout, from the white walls and glossy kitchen surfaces to the rather striking head sculpture in the living space.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, there's a rock beach only eighty metres from the home and the sandy Spiaggia Mare Rocce is two hundred metres' walk. There's a decent choice of restaurants in the surrounding town of Pittulongu, while you can find a wider choice, plus some archaeological ruins, in the city of Olbia, just over fifteen minutes' drive away.

Granted, the interiors aren’t the most characterful, and there’s no kitchen or living space to speak of, but the private balcony is a nice touch for morning brews (and the coffee pod machine can help with those). Location-wise, you’ve got the best of this bustling port city at your feet. Grab a dose of sea air along the promenade right outside your door, and when thoughts turn to food, head to the old town’s restaurant-lined plaza for the freshest seafood imaginable. Fancy a beach day? There are miles of uncrowded sandy coves waiting just a short drive away.

This villa is an excellent spot in which to admire the natural beauty of Sardinia. Thanks to the home's elevated position, guests get a wonderful view of the dazzling blue waters of Porto Rotondo from the upper floors. However, don't be surprised if the paradisical garden immediately below grabs your attention, too.

Out here in among the colourful flower beds and handsome granite walls, you can while away lazy afternoons paddling about in the swimming pool, catching some rays on the loungers or cooking up a storm in the outdoor kitchen (complete with a barbecue and pizza oven).

Inside, the home is spread across four floors, so while there are plenty of stairs, it feels cool and airy, thanks to the high ceilings, stark white walls and terracotta tiling underfoot. There's a discernible rustic theme to the design, from the wicker chairs and natural-themed artwork to the large rock feature in the main entrance hall.

With the nautical location, you might not be surprised to learn that there are two beaches that can be reached in just over a quarter of an hour's walk (Spiaggia dei Sassi and di Ira), while the historic city of Olbia takes a similar amount of time to reach in the car, too. Closer to home, there are a handful of restaurants, bars and discos in the local area.

Featuring picturesque scenery – best viewed from the private terrace, this apartment offers a boutique hotel-like experience, with the added privacy of having your own cooking and dining facilities. While the swimming pool is shared with other guests staying in neighbouring apartments, the complex is quiet and residential and there are thirty apartments in total on-site. Separated into two buildings, three of the double-bedroom suites are located in the annexe. Meanwhile, the other two bedrooms are found alongside the living area and dining area in the main building. Additionally, the laundry room is bound to come in handy for those here on longer stays.

While towels, linen and wi-fi aren’t included and need to be paid for separately, the home isn’t without its charms, boasting beamed ceilings, comfortable, practical decor and a sofa bed in the living area for groups seeking more flexible sleeping arrangements.

This villa stands in the village of Budoni, within easy reach of the beautiful Cala Brandinchi beach and Lu Impostu. The decor is simple, and there isn’t much space for everyone inside – but with views like this, you won’t be spending much time indoors. The terrace is a great spot for alfresco meals, and kids will love the private swimming pool. We recommend hiring a car so you can get out and explore more of Sardinia.

This apartment, just outside Valledoria, boasts dreamy coastal views. Pad out to the balcony, and you'll find sweeping panoramas of the sea, town, and mountains – if that's not the ideal backdrop, we don't know what is. While the interiors may not rival the scenery, the modern design is clean and comfortable. It has everything you need to settle in, from inviting bedrooms to a well-appointed kitchen. Keen to hit the beach? The sandy shores in San Pietro a Mare are 1.5 kilometres away – we recommend hiring a car for ease.

Beach lovers rejoice – this villa is within a short stroll of a trio of sandy beaches, with the nearest just 50m away. Located on a complex overlooking Golfo Aranci bay, you’ll have access to a large, shared pool with spectacular sea views, as well as your own private garden and terrace. Location wise, you’re a short drive from the centre of Golfo Aranci, where you’ll find a picturesque harbour and a selection of restaurants and bars, and a fifteen minute drive from the historic town of Olbia.

It’s in a quiet residential area, with a supermarket, restaurant and bar all under a kilometre away and the buzzing coastal town of San Teodoro just 12 kilometres away. This comfortable home is just a short walk from the beach in La Ciaccia, making it the perfect base for a coastal adventure. While the interiors are nothing special (it's function over style), the highlight of this home is the two terraces. Upstairs, the bedrooms have direct access to a balcony, offering an extension of living space with sea views – you might prefer to be outside, as there's an extra fee for the air conditioning. Meanwhile, on the ground floor, the larger patio area has a barbecue and dining area for alfresco meals. If you don't fancy cooking, there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance – if you're looking for more amenities, we recommend visiting nearby Castelsardo, named one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

You’re in the penthouse here – and there isn’t a lift – so you'll need to climb stairs to reach the home on the third floor. While that won’t suit everyone, we think it’s worth the trek for a view like that. The home centres around a sociable open-plan living area – which will also be the bedroom for guests five and six when the home is at full occupancy. Location-wise, you’re within walking distance of the vibrant old town, the seafront, shops, and restaurants, and a ten-minute drive from the nearest beaches.

Located in Porto Istana, on the northeastern coast of Sardinia, this terracotta-toned home is a slice of botanical beauty with its palm and cactus-filled garden and its idyllic coastal setting.
