It's right in the heart of Costa Rossa, a short walk from the beach, harbour and town centre. Northern Sardinia's hot spots are easily accessible by car, like Costa Paradiso and Castelsardo. But if you don't feel like venturing out, you'll find everything you need in this seaside town. Start your day with an espresso on the private terrace, spend the afternoon sunning on the sandy beach, and watch the sun go down from one of buzzing local restaurants. Sounds good, right? Now that's what we call a view. Whether you're relaxing on the balcony, swimming in the pool or whipping up a feast in the kitchen, you'll be able to watch the waves rolling in the sea. Although bed linen and towels are an additional cost, each bedroom is comfortable and cosy – but, as there's only space for eight around the table, we think ten guests will be a squeeze. Location-wise, Costa Paradiso is yours to discover. Li Cossi beach is less than a five-minute drive, with restaurants, bars and seasonal shops also within striking distance.

If you’re in search of a slow-paced Italian break, this home delivers a sweet solution. There’s a little garden and a terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining. We recommend having a car to explore further afield, but it’s just a short drive to the nearest sandy beach, while the nearest restaurant and bar are a short walk away.

While the interiors may not rival the scenery, the modern design is clean and comfortable. It has everything you need to settle in, from inviting bedrooms to a well-appointed kitchen. Keen to hit the beach? The sandy shores in San Pietro a Mare are 1.5 kilometres away – we recommend hiring a car for ease.

This comfortable home is just a short walk from the beach in La Ciaccia, making it the perfect base for a coastal adventure. While the interiors are nothing special (it's function over style), the highlight of this home is the two terraces. Upstairs, the bedrooms have direct access to a balcony, offering an extension of living space with sea views – you might prefer to be outside, as there's an extra fee for the air conditioning. Meanwhile, on the ground floor, the larger patio area has a barbecue and dining area for alfresco meals. Sun-seekers will love this Sardinian villa. It can be found in the village of Portobello di Gallura, just a short distance from the sandy shores of Cala Sassari. Its outside space is comprised of two large terraces with plenty of room for everyone to stretch out in the sun – and there are glorious sea views to admire. There's also a private pool. Inside the villa is crisp and modern, though you’ll have to pay for bed and bath linen (or bring your own). When you’re not at the beach, you can soak up the rays on the hiking and cycling trails of the Gallura area – it’s best to hire a car if you want to explore.

In the rugged south of Corsica, near Bonifacio, sits this chalet-like retreat in the hills. Wood-clad outside, it blends in with the rolling scenery, where ancient woodlands cover the hills like a deep green blanket. It’s a ten-minute drive into Bonifacio, an ancient port town with a buzzing marina and medieval hilltop citadel. The villa itself is set in field-like lawns where a shady olive grove invites you for an afternoon stroll. The turquoise swimming pool sits pride of place on the deck and is lined with loungers. If you're staying in a home situated on the Sardinian coastline, it would be a crying shame if the address didn't have an outdoor spot from which to admire the majesty of the local landscape. Thankfully, this apartment in the north of the island really delivers on the front.

Not only is there a large sun terrace with 180-degree views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Tavolara island, but there are two further verandahs with alfresco tables and a well-kept garden. There are pleasant views out through the home's windows too, which, thanks to the elevated position, also bring in lots of natural light. This asset works particularly well with the bright and contemporary design throughout, from the white walls and glossy kitchen surfaces to the rather striking head sculpture in the living space.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the local area, there's a rock beach only eighty metres from the home and the sandy Spiaggia Mare Rocce is two hundred metres' walk. There's a decent choice of restaurants in the surrounding town of Pittulongu, while you can find a wider choice, plus some archaeological ruins, in the city of Olbia, just over fifteen minutes' drive away.

If you can tear yourself away from your home's many little luxuries, you're only a fifteen-minute walk from a sandy beach and the charming marina filled with bobbing yachts, while just outside your door, the Old Town offers up restaurants, bars and plenty of cultural attractions including the impressive Église St-Jean-Baptiste.
