Set within acres and acres of olive groves, this villa is all about Sicily’s peace and quiet. If you do want to catch a bit of the island’s buzz and stock up on supplies, the historic town of Castelvetrano is a short drive away. But this place is all about the tranquil life, floating in the huge, turquoise swimming pool or enjoying a long, lazy lounge thanks to the full outdoor kitchen. There are plenty of shaded spots with comfy seating dotted around the grounds. 

The villa is set out courtyard-style, all on one level (except for one little turret) with white buildings clustered around the pool terrace. Bedrooms, living rooms and dining areas have their own entrances onto the terrace. Inside, we love the old-world feel of the place with its sloped, wooden ceilings in the bedrooms and Persian rugs in the living room. Furniture feels like it belongs to a 19th-century aristocrat. There’s a big wood-burning stove in the dine-in kitchen, though we doubt you’ll need it in the heat of spring, autumn and summer. All in all, this place feels like you’ve got your own castle in the Sicilian countryside.

You can spot the sea in the distance – the nearest sandy beach is just twelve minutes away. After a morning splashing in the surf, drive to the Selinunte Archaeological Park to take in the incredible Greek ruins. 

For real R&R, head out to the villa’s pool – on a hot day, the water is so inviting. After a dip, lie out in the sun and revel in the peace and quiet. The outside space is a haven of flowers and trees, so all you’ll hear is the faint hum of insects and the water lapping the edge of the pool.

But location isn't all we love here – the sweeping panoramas of olive groves, vineyards, and the surrounding countryside aren't to be missed. A covered terrace makes a prime spot for alfresco dining, while the private pool invites you to jump in for a swim. Head indoors when you need a break from the sun. It's not the most modern, but it's cosy, comfortable, and traditional. There's also a sofa bed in the study for the seventh guest. Just note that while the owner lives next door, they'll respect your privacy during your stay.

One of our favourite features is the cobbled floor of the dining space – the farmhouse style goes a long way in making this feel homely, which makes it the perfect room for tiramisu, copious amounts of coffee, and a board game or two.
