Immersed in the Trapani countryside, where you can admire the Sicilian mountains, this villa is a beautiful spot for large groups and family getaways. Panoramic views surround the private pool and outdoor seating – which includes a dining table for alfresco meals and rooftop terraces ideal for wine and conversation. Though not everyone might like the rustic quality here, the exposed stone and wooden rafters add a traditional beauty. Two of the three bedrooms feature a double and a single day bed each, so they aren't the most private and would be best suited to two adults in a child. Still, the rooms are as spacious and comfortable as the rest of the house.

The Sicilian Horizon

The wow factor at this Sicilian villa is the incredible view. Best seen from the roof terrace or poolside, you’ll be treated to vistas of the surrounding countryside with a mountain backdrop. Outside you’ll also find a hot tub, private pool, and alfresco dining area, so there’s plenty to keep you occupied. And when you’re ready to see the sights, we suggest hiring a car to explore the island. The nearest beach is fourteen kilometres away and the must-see destinations of Erice and Segesta are within easy reach.

Hills in the Sea

Situated among rolling hills and picturesque vineyards of Western Sicily, this large villa makes for a tranquil base for family holidays. The home boasts a private swimming pool and stunning views from both the outside areas and from the interiors. The inside is all about traditional décor with sleek modern touches – note that you’ll need to climb stairs here. The outdoors is perfect for sunbathing and alfresco dining. We think a car is necessary here to explore the island and reach the nearby town of Battaglia, as well as the coast. 

The Country Watch

For a wholesome getaway in the Sicilian countryside, it doesn't get much cosier than this. With traditional kitchen tiles, exposed brick, and a sink of pure Italian stone, it feels like you've stepped right into a family home. Perfect for those that like to stay somewhere with character, personality, and that feels like a home from home. The furnishings are timeless – you'll love sitting around your dining table with a cup of coffee, admiring the traditional touches and the tall wood-beamed ceilings.

Up the steps, you'll reach the mezzanine that serves as a second bedroom. But you'll also find the door that leads out to what's arguably the shining gem of this home, the terrace. We love its rustic walls of ancient stone, that promise complete privacy. Mornings out here are particularly beautiful as you enjoy a breakfast spread on the outdoor dining table with the morning sun on your face, looking out at the vineyards and luscious rolling hills. And the cherry on top is your sparkling shared pool, complete with sun loungers and beach chairs. Relax while you look out at the view, taking all-important dips to escape the heat, and sipping on an afternoon glass of wine. 

When you want to get out and explore this beautiful corner of Sicily, you're around a twenty-five-minute drive from the whitewashed city of Trapani. There are plenty of rocky coves and beaches to relax and swim in the sea or simply wander around its narrow streets, soaking in the rich Sicilian culture. 

Terrace Hideaway

Found in a small village atop a hill on the outskirts of Buseto Palizzolo, this terracotta and stone home takes the rustic comfort of a traditional villa and injects it with a dose of luxury so it doesn’t just look pretty, but also sets you up to lift as few fingers as possible. 

Enjoy your welcome buffet alfresco, amid the vibrant green garden, before you’ve even unpacked your bags. Outside is where you’ll probably enjoy all of your meals considering the beautiful view of the Sicilian countryside. Have a chef prepare your meals or opt for a grilled feast by making use of the barbecue found in the outdoor kitchen. 

The saltwater pool will offer reprieve from the blazing sun when it’s at its apex – paddle lazily in it’s crystalline waters and enjoy a cocktail in the sunlounger after. With plenty of outdoor seating, it doesn’t just create opportunities for wine and antipasto for the entire group, it also allows you to steal away to enjoy a cup of coffee at one of the more intimate tables. 

Before watching the sunset from the loggia, you can wander the corridors of this beautiful home. Find your favourite spot under the exposed beams and settle down with a novel, or practice at the piano in the music room. 

One of our favourite features is the cobbled floor of the dining space – the farmhouse style goes a long way in making this feel homely, which makes it the perfect room for tiramisu, copious amounts of coffee, and a board game or two. 

Now that you’re among some of the most charming towns found on this side of Sicily, you may as well visit the mediaeval town of Erice or the salt pans of Marsala. 

Orange Nasturtium

If you're looking for a cosy, wholesome getaway in a traditional Sicilian village, this home could be just the ticket. Nestled on the edge of Buseto Palizzolo, a small hillside village, this feels like the home of a Sicilian family. It's warm and inviting, with wood beamed ceilings, homely furniture, and traditional checkered floors. Upstairs, you'll find comfortable bedrooms, with high ceilings and charming decor. But in the outdoor area, you're taken somewhere completely different than a quaint cottage in a village – you have a terrace that offers a breathtaking view of the rolling mountains and vast countryside, as well as a long glistening pool for taking that all-important dips in the summer heat. Surrounded by gardens of palm trees and lush greenery, it's a delightful oasis. 

This home is a lovely place for a group of friends or small family to settle into the slower pace of life while exploring the charming surroundings. Casa Chiara

A short trip from the bustling, colourful streets of the island capital of Palermo, seventy minutes by car will whisk you away to another world. This home in the west of Sicily sits in a region peppered with hillside villages, traditional fishing towns, and historic rural architecture. But this charming countryside abode has so much to offer, that you might fancy staying put.

The classic stone build of this restored ‘baglio’ is characteristic of the local area. Set around a paved courtyard with native foliage blooming all over the walls, this postcard-ready scene feels truly welcoming. Even better, you’ll be greeted with a hamper full of local goodies for breakfast. We love the exposed stonework in the living space, with grand timber beams propping up a wonderfully lofty ceiling. Minimal furniture lets the architecture do the talking, while the 'tricolore' colour scheme of the country kitchen is a vibrant little touch that makes cooking even more of a pleasure.
