Set within acres and acres of olive groves, this villa is all about Sicily’s peace and quiet. If you do want to catch a bit of the island’s buzz and stock up on supplies, the historic town of Castelvetrano is a short drive away. But this place is all about the tranquil life, floating in the huge, turquoise swimming pool or enjoying a long, lazy lounge thanks to the full outdoor kitchen. There are plenty of shaded spots with comfy seating dotted around the grounds. 

The villa is set out courtyard-style, all on one level (except for one little turret) with white buildings clustered around the pool terrace. Bedrooms, living rooms and dining areas have their own entrances onto the terrace. Inside, we love the old-world feel of the place with its sloped, wooden ceilings in the bedrooms and Persian rugs in the living room. Furniture feels like it belongs to a 19th-century aristocrat. There’s a big wood-burning stove in the dine-in kitchen, though we doubt you’ll need it in the heat of spring, autumn and summer. All in all, this place feels like you’ve got your own castle in the Sicilian countryside.

 This lovely family home can be found in Selinunte, a charming historic town in the south west of Sicily. Here, you have everything you need for a fantastic getaway – sandy beaches, piazzas with restaurants, bars and shops, and a delightful villa set amid an orchard and lush garden. 

The villa is bright and comfortable. Large windows in the living room let light flood into the house, adding splashes of the garden’s green tones to the colourful palette. The bedrooms lead out onto balconies, so you can begin your day by breathing in the balmy air and admiring the views. 

This villa benefits from a countryside location, so the views are lush and green, stretching over the grounds to the rolling rural landscape beyond. You can spot the sea in the distance – the nearest sandy beach is just twelve minutes away. After a morning splashing in the surf, drive to the Selinunte Archaeological Park to take in the incredible Greek ruins.

This villa offers a peaceful retreat just a ten-minute drive from Marinella di Selinunte and the beach. But location isn't all we love here – the sweeping panoramas of olive groves, vineyards, and the surrounding countryside aren't to be missed. A covered terrace makes a prime spot for alfresco dining, while the private pool invites you to jump in for a swim. Head indoors when you need a break from the sun. It's not the most modern, but it's cosy, comfortable, and traditional. There's also a sofa bed in the study for the seventh guest. Just note that while the owner lives next door, they'll respect your privacy during your stay.

When you’re not among vineyards, you might escape to another natural wonder – the beach. Drive along the coast to find your favourite among a number of rocky and sandy beaches and once there, you can fully indulge yourself for the day. Swim until the tides and sunshine has left you feeling that particular brand of happy-tired, or catch up on your reading as you lie back under an umbrella and listen to the waves lapping upon the shore. 

Back home you’ll find all the comforts you expect from a holiday home and we encourage you to spend time outdoors under the shaded terrace. Put out a platter of antipasto, uncork the wine, and simply enjoy each other’s company until the sun dips below the horizon. One of our favourite features is the cobbled floor of the dining space – the farmhouse style goes a long way in making this feel homely, which makes it the perfect room for tiramisu, copious amounts of coffee, and a board game or two. 

Now that you’re among some of the most charming towns found on this side of Sicily, you may as well visit the mediaeval town of Erice or the salt pans of Marsala.

In a villa made up of two apartments, this home is located on the ground floor, making it ideal for those with limited mobility.
