Located in the centre of Terrasini, this home sits in a sunny position in this harbour town on the Sicilian gulf of the northeast coast. To the south and west of this town, there are the fruit plantations ‘Conca d’Oro’, and the area is surrounded by vast mountains which provide a stunning backdrop to your terrace views. 

A cappuccino on the terrace, as you admire the panorama is the ideal way to begin each morning here, before you head out for the day. Why not go hiking and explore the paths at the Riserva Naturale Capo Rama – 4km away? Or, for those looking for a more relaxing break, you can spend their time on the sandy beach of Magaggiari – just 1km away.

In the evening, return home and fire up the barbecue for meals on the terrace in the Italian alfresco style. Then, as the night grows chillier, snuggle up together in front of the open-hearth fireplace.

It’s a leisurely walk into the pretty coastal village of Scopello for pizzerias, seafront bars and a calm bay for swimming in the sea.

Inside, the villa feels beachy and traditional at the same time with wooden ceilings, crisp white walls and splashes of ocean blue. The table by the glass double doors offers a coastal panorama for long, leisurely breakfasts and the nautical theme of the decor is a reminder of your oceanfront location. The entire living area is open, thanks to an archway at the centre, making the kitchen, living and dining areas feel spacious and breezy. Bedrooms, with their splashes of artwork on the walls and cute wooden-shuttered windows, are a delight to retire to come bedtime.

Set within acres and acres of olive groves, this villa is all about Sicily’s peace and quiet. If you do want to catch a bit of the island’s buzz and stock up on supplies, the historic town of Castelvetrano is a short drive away. But this place is all about the tranquil life, floating in the huge, turquoise swimming pool or enjoying a long, lazy lounge thanks to the full outdoor kitchen. There are plenty of shaded spots with comfy seating dotted around the grounds. 

The villa is set out courtyard-style, all on one level (except for one little turret) with white buildings clustered around the pool terrace. Bedrooms, living rooms and dining areas have their own entrances onto the terrace. Inside, we love the old-world feel of the place with its sloped, wooden ceilings in the bedrooms and Persian rugs in the living room. Furniture feels like it belongs to a 19th-century aristocrat. There’s a big wood-burning stove in the dine-in kitchen, though we doubt you’ll need it in the heat of spring, autumn and summer. All in all, this place feels like you’ve got your own castle in the Sicilian countryside.

The golden sand of San Vito beach is within a ten–minute walk away, giving you ample opportunities to spend your days at the beach with your family or friends. The charming town of San Vito offers a wide range of eateries for you to expand your taste palate and sample some incredible Italian cuisine, washed down with a refreshing glass of spritz.

The Royal Blue Sea

Feel at home in this charming house that combines elements of Italy and Morocco. The living space has a more traditional feel, thanks to the wooden doors leading to the outside that let the fresh sea breeze in to wake you up in the morning. The outdoor area has to be the show stopper, where you can spend hours admiring the mountains and the turquoise sea from the comfort of the loungers, and enjoying a refreshing swim in the cool pool when the balmy heat gets too much.

Located in Cornino, a great starting point for discovering western Sicily. Prepare for a day of exploration and being awed by the beauty of nature with a forty-minute trip to The Zingaro Reserve – walk along the coastal path from Scopello to San Vito Lo Capo, where seven kilometres of diverse beauties await you. Your gaze will be drawn to the countless enchanting blue bays where the delicate hues of the silky white pebbles alternate with the roughness of the rock. The next day, take a thirty-minute drive to Trapani and relax on Mura di Tramontana beach before walking up the road along the sea wall to find a beautiful place for aperitivo, or continue towards the Ligni tower to meet a delightful tiny fishing village.

With the outdoors overlooking sparkling views of the ocean to one side and rolling panoramas to the other, you'll likely want to spend all your time poolside. Though the style here might not be everyone's cup of tea, it's well-kept and comfortable, with plenty of natural light. Location-wise, you're within walking distance of Lumia Beach. And Sciacca, with its Cathedral and vibrant staircases, is only a short drive away. 

The Olive Sea 

Close to the ancient village of Eraclea Minoa, surrounded by Greek ruins and pristine sandy beaches, this contemporary villa is the perfect contrast between old and new. Boasting a beautiful garden, complete with a private pool, you can spend your time swimming and lounging on the comfy sunbeds which face the spectacular countryside. There's even a fitness suite here if you like to begin your days with a workout. 

However you choose to start the day, we highly recommend you spend the rest exploring the local area. The village itself has a few shops and restaurants, plus a magnificent sandy beach. You'll also find ancient ruins of a Greek theatre with incredible sea views, making this the ideal place for avid historians. 

When you return home, the patio awaits – tuck into a laid-back supper on the patio and enjoy the scenery. The hammock or swinging chair are great spots to catch a sunset – don't forget to pour yourself a glass of wine first.

Up in the hills of northern Sicily, this villa enjoys seclusion and some incredible views of the coastline. Fields, hills and a shore pocked with sandy beaches stretch before you and the charming coastal village of Scopello is around a fifteen-minute drive away for restaurants, bars and swimming spots. The highlight of the villa has to be the terrace, not just for the panoramic view, but for the inviting plunge-style pool and summer kitchen letting you know this place has been designed with days outdoors in mind. Deck chairs and lounge seats are shaded by olive trees.

Inside, the living area is bright and open, with a typical combination of terracotta tiles and a wooden ceiling. You can throw open the double glass doors to the terrace and let the hilltop air in, where the lofty space remains breezy. And the view from in here, of the rugged Sicilian mountains, is just as good as outside.

Standing brilliant white in the rugged Sicilian countryside, overlooking the glittering Mediterranean, it feels like pure bliss waking up here every morning. The house faces northeast, so you’re in for some spectacular sunrises – if you can get up, that is, as the plush beds are irresistible. 

Slick, all-grey interiors are kept deliberately simple to allow the technicolour landscapes to sing. The bedrooms are minimalist yet comfortable and with food at the heart of Sicilian living, it’s only right that this home’s only interior communal space is a large kitchen and dining room. 

Outside, it’s delightfully quiet – the ocean and the soft melody of birdsong the only sounds. Splash around in the pool before enjoying an aperitivo on the terrace. When you’re ready to head out and explore, the picturesque town of Castellammare del Golfo with its ochre fishermen’s houses and golden beaches are just twenty minutes away by car.

A short trip from the bustling, colourful streets of the island capital of Palermo, seventy minutes by car will whisk you away to another world. This home in the west of Sicily sits in a region peppered with hillside villages, traditional fishing towns, and historic rural architecture. But this charming countryside abode has so much to offer, that you might fancy staying put.

The classic stone build of this restored ‘baglio’ is characteristic of the local area. Set around a paved courtyard with native foliage blooming all over the walls, this postcard-ready scene feels truly welcoming. Even better, you’ll be greeted with a hamper full of local goodies for breakfast. Naturally, you might want to set up brunch on the poolside terrace before dipping your toes in the pool, mimosa in hand.

When you need a break from the midday sun, you certainly won’t mind going inside to play table tennis in the resident's clubhouse, or relaxing in your own rustic villa. We love the exposed stonework in the living space, with grand timber beams propping up a wonderfully lofty ceiling. Minimal furniture lets the architecture do the talking, while the 'tricolore' colour scheme of the country kitchen is a vibrant little touch that makes cooking even more of a pleasure.

Sicily as an island has so much to offer – especially this area at the most westerly tip. Wine lovers will be glad to know Marsala is an eighteen-minute drive away – a town internationally known for its wine production. After wandering its historic streets, pick up a bottle of marsala wine to enjoy on the terrace later. This area of Sicily is also well known for its small but picturesque beaches. Lido Marakaibbo Beach is one of the most famous in this part of the island, and it's only a six-minute drive.

When you're not lounging in the sand, spend your time back at home on the wrap-around patio, soaking up the coastal air. There's more than enough seating – share an alfresco dinner around the table (we suggest creating a dish using Mazara's famous red shrimp), then pad over the outdoor lounge chairs for an Aperol Spritz as the sun goes down.   

Inside, a breezy living space is perfect for relaxing away from the Sicilian rays and the kitchen is well-stocked for rustling up whatever you fancy. Three stylish bedrooms and a bathroom round out the main house – there's also a separate annexe, which has its own living space, bathroom, kitchenette and a sofa bed, making it ideal for those wanting a bit more privacy. 

Mazara del Vallo is an ancient town with plenty of character – and, no surprise, much to discover. Visit the stunning Cathedral of the Holy Savior, buzzing Piazza delle Repubblica and the famous fishing harbour – all about twenty minutes by car, give or take. There's also a seaside promenade for strolls along the water, as well as plenty of restaurants nearby serving fresh-caught seafood.
