Your gaze will be drawn to the countless enchanting blue bays where the delicate hues of the silky white pebbles alternate with the roughness of the rock. The next day, take a thirty-minute drive to Trapani and relax on Mura di Tramontana beach before walking up the road along the sea wall to find a beautiful place for aperitivo, or continue towards the Ligni tower to meet a delightful tiny fishing village.

Outside is where you’ll probably enjoy all of your meals considering the beautiful view of the Sicilian countryside. Have a chef prepare your meals or opt for a grilled feast by making use of the barbecue found in the outdoor kitchen. 

The saltwater pool will offer reprieve from the blazing sun when it’s at its apex – paddle lazily in it’s crystalline waters and enjoy a cocktail in the sunlounger after. With plenty of outdoor seating, it doesn’t just create opportunities for wine and antipasto for the entire group, it also allows you to steal away to enjoy a cup of coffee at one of the more intimate tables.

One of our favourite features is the cobbled floor of the dining space – the farmhouse style goes a long way in making this feel homely, which makes it the perfect room for tiramisu, copious amounts of coffee, and a board game or two. 

Now that you’re among some of the most charming towns found on this side of Sicily, you may as well visit the mediaeval town of Erice or the salt pans of Marsala.

This villa rests on a hillside, 600 metres from Cala Mazzo di Sciacca beach. If you want to explore traditional Sicilian cuisine and wine in the local bars, the seaside village of Scopello sits prettily nearby.  The home’s burnt-sienna facade is striking against a near-constant blue sky, and a terracotta roof and wooden shutters speak of old-world Sicily. In a peaceful residential area close to Cornino, this Sicilian villa has its own pool and alfresco dining facilities. The three bedrooms are downstairs, meaning guests with limited mobility might be better off looking elsewhere. But for a family or group of friends looking for a simple and relaxing stay with privacy and lovely views, look no further. The location also offers easy access to nearby sandy beaches like Baia de Cornino, though we recommend hiring a car for getting to the Mount Cofano Nature Reserve or Trapani.

You'll want a car here to make the most of your stay – if you're not spending a day in Trapani or on Sicily's western coast, the village of Erice is close by with some fantastic local restaurants.

But this place is all about the tranquil life, floating in the huge, turquoise swimming pool or enjoying a long, lazy lounge thanks to the full outdoor kitchen. There are plenty of shaded spots with comfy seating dotted around the grounds. 

The villa is set out courtyard-style, all on one level (except for one little turret) with white buildings clustered around the pool terrace. Bedrooms, living rooms and dining areas have their own entrances onto the terrace. Inside, we love the old-world feel of the place with its sloped, wooden ceilings in the bedrooms and Persian rugs in the living room. Furniture feels like it belongs to a 19th-century aristocrat. There’s a big wood-burning stove in the dine-in kitchen, though we doubt you’ll need it in the heat of spring, autumn and summer. All in all, this place feels like you’ve got your own castle in the Sicilian countryside.
