We recommend checking out the centrepiece of the town, the Duomo di San Giorgio, which is one of the most spectacular sights of Baroque architecture in Sicily. This home delivers that, along with a few 21st-century touches to keep things feeling luxurious. It’s in the heart of the city, where the narrow streets are home to chi-chi coffee shops and family-run restaurants serving Sicilian cuisine. Absolutely surrounded by a pedigree garden, native foliage, and stunning panoramic views of the natural landscape and the ocean beyond, this home in the beautiful Val Di Noto – of which the baroque cities are a UNESCO World Heritage – is the epitome of understated luxury. It’s in the barest of touches that this home shines. The fireplace, for one, where the glass panelling allows a hint of the outside to make itself known even when you’re relaxing indoors. You’ll also find that from the indoor jacuzzi, you get another glimpse of the outdoors through a large, square window, and those nuances make all the difference in the feel of this home. 

Then there’s the landscaped garden and the precise way in which it all comes together, and the gorgeous views from the infinity pool, the inviting comfort of the outdoor furniture, and the wonderful mix of elegance and cosiness in the furniture. Nestled away in the Hyblean region of southern Siciliy, this farmhouse was recently treated to a four-year refurbishment that finished in 2021 and this hard work is immediately apparent as you take a tour around the buildings and the grounds.

We're full of praise for the way that period features have been retained alongside more contemporary features, which lead to super-sleek kitchens and bathrooms rubbing shoulders quite happily with patches of exposed stonework and wooden ceiling beams overhead. A former stable has been turned into a lavish dining space, while the wine cellar has been kept and filled with local bottles.

The very same climate that makes Sicily so propitious for wine production is a pretty sizable reason why people jet over to the island for a sojourn and there are plenty of ways to bask in the sunshine here. The large swimming pool and adjoining Jacuzzi are sure to see plenty of use, as are the barbecue and alfresco tables on the verandahs that are treated to peaceful views of the local landscape.

Although there's a welcome sense of isolation at the address, the nearest town – Frigintini – is only 3km away and has a few restaurants and shops to tide you over. A little further afield, there are beaches on the island's southern coastline starting from as close as 30km away – well within range for a day trip or two.

Outside, you'll find a covered dining terrace as well as an immaculate lawn, plus a lovely pool and plenty of loungers where you can top up your tan. The pool is shared with the other two villas on site, and you also have the option of booking these at the same time if you're coming along with a large group.

Situated in southern Sicily, this villa suits a family or a group of friends wanting to spend their days in the sunshine. There is a private saltwater pool for splashing about when the temperature rises and a covered terrace for dining on Sicilian delicacies. While there is a no-nonsense approach to the interiors, you have everything you need to feel right at home. We recommend hiring a car if you’d like to explore – Sampieri Beach is only a short drive away.

Surrounded by olive groves, ancient trees and stone walls, the Sicilian estate on which this home sits is as idyllic as you could imagine, but it's not a completely back-to-basics affair – the swimming pool shared with other apartments on the site adds a real splash of luxury and is a gorgeous spot for cooling off during the height of summer.

The home itself is similar to the outside space, in that it mixes together rustic aspects with contemporary features. High ceilings and stark white walls lend an immediate sense of brightness, while the sleek kitchen lies on the modern side of things. There are a few nods to heritage, though – the wooden ceiling beams and ceramic collections. To top it all off, guests are treated to a private terrace on which to lounge, dine or simply gaze out at the surrounding countryside. 

As you'll quickly find out for yourself, the home's immediate surroundings – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, no less – are peaceful, but you don't have to venture far to find a bit of life. The nearest town is the Baroque beauty of Ragusa about 10km away, which has shops, restaurants and a weekly market with which to get acquainted. In the other direction, there are sandy beaches starting from as close as 15km away.

Situated in the peaceful coastal region of south-eastern Sicily, this home is part of a small complex of three villas, with a shared swimming pool and lovely sea views. You’ll also enjoy your own private garden and terrace, perfect for relaxing and sharing alfresco meals. The interior is on the rustic side – this home may not be suitable if you’re seeking luxury – but there’s certainly enough charm and comfort here to make for a relaxing island holiday for a family or a group of friends. We think a car is necessary here for reaching the beaches and the nearby shops and restaurants.

Experience the Sicilian countryside from this modern, pet-friendly villa, with its own pool, tennis court and games room. Spread over three floors, you can enter at the garage level or head up the driveway to the pool level, making this home suitable for guests who struggle with stairs. The views are gorgeous and you're guaranteed peace and privacy, but we highly recommend a car here. It's only a short drive to Marina di Ragusa where you'll find beaches, shops and restaurants, and the town of Ragusa itself is even closer.

From the outside it appears grand and majestic, with regal columns, intricate tiling and ornate fences – and the inside is just as elegant, with unique glossy floors, opulent wallpaper and divine soft furnishings. Step downstairs and you'll be blown away by the indoor pool and spa, with painted ceilings that remind us of Renaissance art, together with starry lighting and gorgeous mosaics, creating a blissful place to relax. There are some lush outdoor spots here too where you can enjoy the Italian sunshine, and the beach is just a short drive away for when you fancy sea-swimming and sunbathing.

The Emerald Wonder

This beautifully decorated home is fit for royalty, with a glistening chandelier in the living room and a patterned floor underneath sleek white leather sofas. Open up the doors to the terrace to admire the blue skies and verdant landscape that surrounds you – the crimson curtains pulled back to allow the daylight to stream in. One of our favourite details within the house is the unique spiral glass staircase that resembles branches draped with leaves. 

The focal point of this home is the gorgeous indoor wellness area fitted with a refreshing swimming pool, relaxing jacuzzi, and a wonderful sauna with low mood lighting. There are even loungers to stretch out on as you sip on a cocktail or read a brand new book. If you fancy catching some rays, head to the terrace to soak up the sun on a sun lounger or tuck into a meal together with your loved ones at the outdoor dining table.

Explore the charming town of Scicli and wander the streets to find local hidden gems, delicious eateries that serve global cuisine, and bars that offer fine wine and cocktails.
